And how weird life truly was. Only a few months ago she was a broken girl in all spheres of life. She had been unemployed, a stranger to love, betrayed by her once best friend and the obstacles were thrown onto her path again and again and again. Yet throughout it all, there had been a silver lining in her thundercloud and that silverlining was the handsome man who was looking upon her face with bated anticipation for her to complete his life with love and togetherness.
The past few events in her life had taught her a valuable lesson. With her accident which could have seen her breathe her last on earth, she had come to realize that life was much too short to not live it the way /she/ wanted to live. And Bappa knew, she, Kalpana Jadhav, wanted to experience what life had to offer her only with the company of the man in front of her.
"Yes..." - the tears had began pooling in her eyes but when the word left her lips, they broke their boundaries and fell in a joyous stream down her face- "A million times yes."
Raghav breathed a sigh of relief, pure joy dancing in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her waist and spun her around on the lavish green grass of the park, his boisterous laughter causing a few passersby to watch the couple with some curiousity.
Kalpana touched his face, her beaming eyes meeting his as he lowered her and captured her lips in a deep, passionate kiss, trying to convey in that moment of intimacy the unrestrained elation which was pumping through his body.
His lips traveled down to her neck and he tasted her skin with hungry desire, Kalpana blushing at his eager display of his affection as she bowed her head, her fingers threading through the soft hazel strands of hair at the nape of his neck.
"My joy knows no bounds..." - he whispered against the soft skin of her neck before his dark gaze met her beautiful eyes. He cupped her cheek, the tears of unhindered joy biting his own eyes as his thumbs brushed her cheeks affectionately- " People see me, a successful business man, and they say, "Look at the rich man. He must have everything he wants." But how wrong they are. The only thing I want is in my arms right now."
Kalpana smiled at his words and he kissed her softly and closed his eyes in veneration at the peace which her touch had instilled in his heart. When they broke the kiss, he quickly removed the red velvet box from his pocket and extracted the simple but elegant pink diamond ring which he slipped into her ring finger.
"You bought a ring!" - she exclaimed and he grinned at her as he pulled her into his arms and buried his face in her hair before he inhaled her sweet intoxicating scent which was enough to melt his heart again and again.
"Yes and if you had refused me I was going to put in your finger anyway."- Raghav said teasingly and Kalpana lightly punched his chest, earning a chuckle from him. They remained in each other's embrace for a while, the cool breeze washing over them with comforting coolness. After a moment, Kalpana's soft voice broke the silence.
"Raghav... I know my past interactions with your mother hasn't been the best but she is still your mother. Will she agree to this wedding?"
Raghav stiffened at Kalpana's words, his eyes meeting hers with a serious gaze- "If she can't accept you as a daughter in law, then she will have to forget me as a son."

The familiar sounds of the office equipment seemed to echo in the ears of the man who sat in the waiting room of Singhania group of Companies. A manila folder was resting on the seat next to him, the edges bending with the many times it had been opened while the man waited to meet the daunting Mr. Raghav Singhania. He was a fairly handsome man, though his black hair was longer than what would have been considered neat for one who proclaimed to be a businessman. His grey suit also bore the indication that it had been worn a few times without being ironed and his white shirt was ruffled and creased.
The secretary's eyes meet the man's for a brief moment, the frigidity in his black gaze slightly unnerving the young woman.
"Mr. Dhruv Arora. Mr Singhania will see you soon."
Dhruv acknowledged the words with a stiff nod before he returned his gaze to the magazine he was pretending to read. However, his ears were focused on all the sounds that were circulating around him.
"Did he truly propose to you Kalpi!" - a young woman's voice exclaimed in the distance. Dhruv looked up through his lashes, his gaze landing on two young women down the right corridor. The fair one was holding on the other's hand, a slender dusky beauty with eyes as bright as the full moon.
"Shhh..." - the woman named Kalpi was indicating to her friend- "We haven't told anyone yet."
"I am so happy for you!" - the woman's friend hugged her and Dhruv rolled his eyes at their childish display, his gaze returning to the model in the magazine- "Who thought Akdoo had in it him to actually chose a wife!"
Dhruv closed the magazine and tossed it on the table, his hand brushing the stubble that was peeking through his cheeks. He was tired. Tired of life. Tired of drowning in debt. He prayed to God that Raghav was going to agree to his business proposal or he wouldn't have any other options remaining.
"Mr Arora?" - Dhruv looked at the secretary who gave him a polite smile.
"Mr. Singhania will see you now."

Kalpana flipped through the pages in the file as she made her way to Raghav's office. He had begged and pleaded with her to not join the office until she had atleast two more months of rest but Kalpana felt that would only be a waste of precious time which she had been blessed with. Upon nearing his office however, she paused when she heard the loud voices coming from inside Raghav's cabin.
"You can't do this to me!" - a desperate voice was saying- "I have showed you the plans. I have showed you the projection of profits! If you can just give me a chance I will prove to you that this will be a successful partnership!"
"Mr Arora." - Kalpana's heart skipped a beat at deathly seriousness which tinted Raghav's tone- "I have looked through the documents in detail and there is nothing to suggest that this partnership will be beneficial to my company. You have to understand. I do not make these decisions for my /own/ benefit. I have to think about my employees. If I enter a partnership that poses risk to my company then they can lose their jobs should my company go bankrupt."
"But you are not even giving this a chance Singhania!" -the man shouted harshly at Raghav. Kalpana felt her heart thumping against her chest in fear at the man's venomous tone but when Raghav replied, his voice was calm, albeit severe.
"I have already given you my reasons as to why I can't agree to this. Now I have nothing more to say."
Kalpana heard the faint shuffling of papers and a few seconds later, a man exited Raghav's office and came to a stop in front of her, her eyes widening slightly when his thunderous eyes met hers. He glanced down at her hand where she was hugging the file to her chest, his eyes flashing darkly at the diamond ring on her finger.
Before her anxious breath could leave her, he walked past her, his heavy footsteps echoing in the hallway.
Kalpana looked away from his retreating form and with a deep breath she entered Raghav's office, pure concern seeping into her expression when she saw his hands were grippinghis head in frustration from where he sat behind the desk.
"Raghav..." - at her voice he looked up and immediately he shielded the annoyance in his eyes as his gaze fell upon her beautiful face- "I am guessing that meeting did not go well."
Raghav leaned back into his leather bound chair, a heavy sigh leaving him as she approached his desk- "They all can't go well, now, can they?" - he said as he bowed his head and ran a tired hand through his hair- "I have never seen such desperation in a man before. I almost feel guilty for not being able to assist him."
"You can't help them all, Raghav.." - Kalpana said with reassurance as she place the file on the desk and move around the table to cup his cheeks. She stared into his tired eyes, a small smile playing on her lips- "I am sure he will find himself soon. A lot of people go through hardships in life but somewhere during their journey, if they are lucky, they meet someone who can change the course of their destiny for something better." Raghav eyes softened at her words, his gaze lowering to her enticing lips when her face inched closer to his. With affectionate tenderness, her lips moulded with his softly and he felt the tension which clung to his body dissipating instantly in that moment. His arms snaked around her waist and he pulled her onto his lap, his head coming to rest on her chest when they broke the kiss.
"You were the one who changed my destiny." - Kalpana's soft voice drifted to his ears and he looked up at her, the smile in her eyes reaching his lips- "Let me get you some water before I show you the file ok?"
Raghav nodded and with a quick peck on his cheek, she slipped off his lap and walked over to the small table in the middle of the room. As she lifted the mug of water, Raghav's eyes lingered on her with a peaceful smile even though he was already craving to feel her in his arms again. He was about to rise and approach her when a loud scream pierced the surrounding.
"SIR YOU CAN'T GO THERE! SECURITY STOP HIM!!!"
A few rounds of gunshot echoed in the office and Kalpana spun around, the mug slipping from her hand with a resounding crash to the floor as her terrified eyes met Raghav's.
Before he could move around the desk, the doors to his office went flying open and his face paled in a mixture of panic and fear when Dhruv Arora charged into the cabin, his murderous eyes connecting with Raghav as he levelled the gun to Raghav's chest.
"I tried to reason with you!" - Dhruv shouted at him, his trembling hand clutching the gun tighter- "But you rich men only care about yourselves! Now reason is dead. I don't want a /business deal/ anymore!"
Raghav's stared down the barrel of the gun, his jaw clenching at the man's words as he looked away from the gun and into the manic eyes of the man.
"We can talk this out.." - Raghav said slowly as he raised his hand- "Just lower the gun and we will come to a solution that will help you."
"No that opportunity is gone!" - Dhruv shouted, Raghav's eyes flashing darkly at the man- "You will give me the money now. I know you could do it right now from that desk! You will transfer the money into my account or..." - with a psychotic grin, he pointed the gun to Kalpana who drew in a shuddering breath as she stared down the haunting barrels of the gun, while Dhruv slipped his finger onto the trigger- "Your fianc dies."
