Chapter 2 - Trust

The following day, Raghav, Sammy, Pakhi and Kalpi went for the meeting but were shocked to find that the Kapoors' presentation had the details of their presentation! Sammy immediately accused Kalpi of this, and told Raghav what he had heard...

Raghav couldn't believe it... it's impossible, Kalpi couldn't do such a thing... he knew in his heart that Kalpi would never do this, but why would Sammy lie about it?

His habit of mistrusting people and his previous experiences made him doubt Kalpi.

"Miss Jadav, is it true? Is Sammy right?"

"Sir it's-it's true that I went to meet Prem, but-" Raghav stopped her before she could explain. He couldn't believe it... Kalpi...Kalpi did this to him... Raghav was filled with anger. Out of all people, he had not expected such a betrayal from her...

"Miss Jadav, get out of here"

"But sir - "

"Enough with your explanations! I won't hear one more word! Just leave! LEAVE!"

Tears were flowing down Kalpi's face. Raghav left without even looking at her face... he couldn't bear to look at her...

Raghav just sat there worried and helpless. There was nothing he could do now... he would certainly lose...

Sammy and Pakhi came to find him. He didn't respond when Pakhi talks to him (ignored her as usual).

Sammy asked him whether he would stay or leave. Raghav simply replied, "I don't run from my defeat... I'll stay..."

The other companies gave their presentations. It was Raghav's turn now. Raghav just sat there without saying a word. Suddenly Kalpi entered and said that she has come to give the presentation for RS constructions. Sammy tried to stop her, but Raghav asked her to proceed. Prove your innocence Kalpi, prove your honesty, show them that you are loyal to me!' he was screaming internally (for some unexplained reason).

Kalpi gave the presentation, which she had created herself, and impressed everyone. Sammy and Raghav were feeling quite guilty by now.

Raghav won the project, but was not completely happy. He now regretted mistrusting Kalpi, and was thankful to her for saving him from defeat. Sammy came and apologised to him. He was going to apologise to Kalpi, but Raghav stopped him and said, "Also tell her... that her job is not going anywhere..."

Sammy went and apologised to Kalpi and also congratulated her for earning her job back. Pakhi also congratulated her. Raghav leaved without saying anything, he could not make eye contact with her, not after what he had just done...

Meanwhile, Kalpi was thinking about Raghav. He didn't even look at me, let alone say something... but what else can I expect from that Khadoos? He'd rather jump into a lake full of crocodiles than say sorry...'

When Kalpi reached home, she was surprised to find that her Aai, Baba and Dada had brought a cake for her. Actually, Kamla and Vitthal had witnessed Kalpi giving the presentation and were very happy to see how much she had progressed, so they decided to congratulate her with the cake.

Later, they left for Siddhi Vinayak temple, leaving Kalpi alone at home.

Meanwhile, at Pakhi's house, Pakhi overheard Neetu, Sahil and Prem talking about what had happened and she came to know that they had stolen the presentation from her room. She got very angry with all of them, and shut herself in her room, upset. Everyone tried to get her out of the room, but she listened to none. Sahil called Kamla, but as she was not at home, Kalpi picked it up. She got worried hearing what Pakhi has done and left for her house. She, too, tries to convince her to open the door, but in vain. Kalpi understands that at this point, she'd only listen to one person - Raghav. She leaves to bring Raghav.

But Raghav was not in a good condition either. He was drinking a lot, guilt ridden at having doubted Kalpi. He even started to hallucinate his younger self, who asked him how could he doubt Kalpi, when earlier it had been him only who proved her innocence when Prem framed her. He further said that Raghav did not trust Kalpi ever since he returned...

Raghav argued with him and finally threw the glass at him, making him disappear. Sammy now came and asked what he was doing. Raghav, who was in a whirl of emotions, just said, "Sammy, my friend, now you will also try to make me understand..."

Suddenly the intercom rang. Sammy picked up.

"Raghav, Kalpana has come... should I let her come?"

Raghav thought for a moment "Yes"

Kalpi came and was shocked to find Raghav in such a state. Nevertheless, she decided to talk to him.

"Sir, Pakhi has shut herself in her room. She's not listening to anyone. Sir I want to take you there... maybe she'll open if you ask her to..."

Sammy, seeing his friend's condition, interrupted her, "Kalpana, are you crazy? You want to take Raghav there in this state! To Kapoors' house!"

"No Sammy, I'll go. What will they do now, kill me? Let's see that also..."

Saying so, he left with Kalpi. They reached Pakhi's home and entered together. Prem was infuriated seeing Raghav, but Sahil stopped him for Pakhi's sake.

Raghav knocked on Pakhi's door. Hearing his voice, Pakhi immediately opened the door.

"Look up.You have no reason to be ashamed...

"Sir, you don't know what my family did..."

"Anyways, tomorrow, 9 am sharp. I hate late comers..."

Saying that, he left. Kalpi also told Pakhi to go and sleep, and left. Pakhi was really happy that Raghav came to help her.

While walking, Kalpi was looking at Raghav and thinking about him.

She went to him and said thanks. Then she continued walking as Raghav got into his car. Raghav, however, stopped his car in front of her and opened the door. Kalpi got in. He started driving.

Raghav was driving rashly, which worried Kalpi. She started pleading him to stop the car.

"Sir... Sir please stop the car..." Raghav didn't listen. "Sir please stop the car... Stop the car!" Kalpi caught hold of his hand to stop him. Raghav turned to look at her.

"Sir, lock the car... we'll go by auto."

"Don't worry, nothing will happen to you..."

"Sir right now I'm more worried about you..."

Raghav kept looking at her. He finally replied, "I'm not used to being cared for..."

He started driving again. After a pause, he spoke again.

"Kalpi... I'm sorry..." Kalpi looks at him in surprise.

"Not for drunken driving... It's a bit fast, but I'm driving straight..." he sighed "Whatever happened today shouldn't have happened... If Raghav Singhaniyais habituated to something, it is that being surrounded by deceitful people who want to take advantage of me... I can't trust anyone... I can't let anyone come close to me... if someone does come in my life, I throw them out of it... It is not easy, being khadoos all the time, and living alone is even more difficult... why am I talking about all this to you... what matters is that what happened today shouldn't have happened..."

Kalpi was pleased to see this side of Raghav.

Raghav looked at her. He was so lost in thoughts that he did not notice as he was passing Kalpi's chawl. He abruptly stopped the car, causing Kalpi to fall forwards, but he held her by the shoulders just in time to save her from being hurt.

Kalpi got down from the car and said bye. Raghav drove off, leaving Kalpi in wonder of his multi-faceted personality.

PS - As I might not post often, so I'll post two chapters together, atleast till I'm just repeating the tracks.

Chapter 3 - Revenge Plan: Success or Failure?

The next morning, Raghav woke up with his head aching badly. He was shocked at his behaviour as he reminisced the events of the previous night. How could he have said so much to Kalpi? How could he go weak in front of her?

But at the same time he also had something else brewing up in his mind. Pakhi's behaviour around him and the way Sahil Kapoor had let him enter his house just for Pakhi's sake gave him an idea... with this plan, now he could finally avenge his father's death.

He told Sammy about it. He wanted to use Pakhi's feelings for him to manipulate and finally destroy Sahil Kapoor. Sammy wasn't happy with this plan, but he knew it was no use to advise him against it, as in the end he would do only what he wants to.

So Raghav's revenge game started, but little was he aware that fate was playing its own game...

First he planned to take Pakhi alone to Alibagh on the pretext of a project, and make her confess during this trip. But fate played its game and Pakhi injured her leg, so Raghav was forced to take Kalpana. This trip got them quite close to each other(details in next chapter), and Raghav ended up thinking about Kalpi all the time...

Even after returning from Alibagh, Raghav did not give up on his revenge plan. He took Pakhi out on a "dinner date", in order to make her confess, but himself ended up imagining Kalpi in her place, and ultimately leaving Pakhi alone and going to the office. Meanwhile Kalpi had got locked in the store room while working and was continuously screaming for help. Raghav, on hearing her screams, immediately rescued her, and she hugged him in relief. Pakhi, who had followed Raghav there, witnessed this and immediately ran away, in tears. Though Raghav managed to convince her with his feeble excuse, his plan had failed yet again...

Chapter 4: Alibagh

The earlier mentioned Alibagh trip was a very important turn in the lives of RagNa.

That days events went like this...

In the office, Kalpi was in a better mood that day after seeing the better side of Raghav the previous night. Pakhi was still afraid because of what her family did, but Kalpi consoled her.

Raghav came to the office and called both the girls into the office. He told Pakhi that they would be going to Alibagh for the project. He asked if she had any problems, Pakhi replied in negative, but Kalpi interrupted and said that she needs to take permission from her aai. Raghav turned to her and said, "Who told you that you are coming?"

"But sir, last night-"

"I know exactly what I said last night" Raghav said pointedly. "Miss Jadav, you can go do your work now."

Both girls left his cabin - Pakhi excited, Kalpi disappointed. Kalpi looked back at him while sitting in her cubicle and thought Heart stopped beating yet again...'

Pakhi went home excited for the trip, but slipped due to the soap water spilled on the floor and sprained her ankle. So she had to call Raghav up and tell him that she'll not be able to make it. Sammy was also busy in other works, so Raghav had no choice but to take Kalpi with him. He wondered What game is fate playing with me? The one I want to get closer to is running away from me, and the one I want to go away from is coming even nearer to me...'

Kalpi returned home still confused about what Raghav was actually thinking and whether or not she was actually a part of that project. Just as her mother was asking her if something was wrong, Kalpi got Sammy's call to inform her that she'll be going to Alibagh for the project, as Pakhi got injured. This instantly lifted her spirits and she went to tell Kamla this, but to her dismay, Kamla paid no attention to anything except the fact that Pakhi had got injured. She was hurt to find that yet again her mother is worrying only about Pakhi, but went on indifferently to ask her permission to go. Kamla was initially reluctant to let her go without Vitthal's permission, but finally agreed on Kalpi and Pakya's insistence.

On their way, Raghav and Kalpi again had some tiffs. Kalpi wanted to discuss about the project, but Raghav ignored her and put earphones in his ears. Kalpi rolled her eyes thinking Khadooskahika! Now he's showing attitude' She noticed that he had not plugged the earphones into any music player, and pointed out the same to him, to which he replied that he doesn't do two things at once. Kalpi took out the earphone and said "Right... or you will get a headache"

Raghav, though internally happy on getting so much of her attention and concern, grunted and replied "I would appreciate it if you worry only about yourself, Miss Jadav"

They didn't talk after that, but Kalpi unintentionally distracted him many a times. Be it the charming innocence on her face when she was asleep, or the dim light from the passing street lamps lighting her face to show her stunning beauty, Raghav kept losing his concentration on the road to glance at her.

On the highway, Kalpi noticed a couple with a child. It seemed that they needed a lift. Kalpi pointed out the same to Raghav, but he was reluctant thinking about their safety. But on Kalpi's insistence, Raghav agreed and turned the car to go back to where the couple was standing, admiring Kalpi all the more. As the man was talking to Raghav, the woman signalled the goons and they came to surround the car.

The goons asked RagNa to get down from the car. One of them took hold of Kalpi's hand. Anger shot up inside Raghav like fire and he screamed. He started fighting with the goons, while Kalpi stood behind, scared. One of the goons caught hold of Kalpi and placed a knife on her throat. Raghav instantly stopped, fear visible in his eyes. No... not her... it was all he could think of. The goons demanded all valuables he had, and he gave away his wallet, phone, and car keys; eyes constantly on Kalpi. The goons also took away the jewellery Kalpi was wearing.

"Let's take this girl with us too, she means a lot to you, doesn't she? Then you'll bring more money to free her" one of the goons said, the others laughed. Raghav screamed again in anger, but stopped fear-stricken as the goon made a cut on Kalpi's throat. The goons left in his car.

Raghav immediately ran to her, concerned "Are you all right?"

"Yes sir... sir I'm so sorry..."

Raghav calmed her down and said "Taking care of my staff's safety is my responsibility..." trying to convince himself that it was all.

Kalpi again pleaded "I'm extremely sorry sir... it'sall my fault..."

By now Raghav had become angry again. "Yes, indeed it'sall your fault! I told you, didn't I, that it wasn't safe! But no, you had to show your concern, you had to become Mother Teresa!" He saw a board saying that there are bandits in the area, and showed it to her. He scolded her even more.

They began walking and got into many tiffs. Raghav kept scolding and taunting Kalpi the whole time. In the end, Kalpi decided that she has had enough, and declared that she's resigning. Raghav, also angry, accepts her resignation. Kalpi walks away in the opposite direction.

Kalpi climbs on some rocks and sees light coming from somewhere beyond the lake in front of her. She decides to swim across the lake.

Raghav, though angry, couldn't leave her alone. So he goes along the way she had taken, and finds her about to jump into the lake.

"Kalpana" Raghav called out to her "What are you doing?"

"Are you ordering me, sir?" Kalpi said mockingly "Sir I think you're forgetting, you've just accepted my resignation." She then continued, "I saw a small village across this lake, so I'm going there to get help."

"Kalpana, standing water is not safe..." Raghav said with concern, "We'll find some other way"

"Sir, can you see any other way?" Raghav didn't answer "Sir this is the only way to go there and I'm going by this way only."

Raghav went back, while Kalpi jumped into the lake and started swimming. Suddenly, her leg got stuck in some weed and she started shouting for help. Raghav, on hearing her voice, ran there and jumped into the water to rescue her. He carried her in his arms and put her down when they reach the shore. He started shouting on her "I've never seen a more adamant girl..." but suddenly collapsed. Kalpi got shocked. She tried to wake him up, but failed. She saw blood on his shirt, so tore it off to find a horde of leeches on his back. Worried and helpless, she panicked as to how she'll save him.

She suddenly saw an old man passing by and went to him for help. He gave her a matchbox to light fire and get the leeches away from Raghav, while he went to get a doctor. Kalpi went to Raghav and tried to light a match, but as thunder was approaching, the match kept blowing away due to the wind. She tore her dupatta and wrapped it around a stick to make a torch, and somehow made a bonfire to light it. She slowly took all the leeches out of Raghav's body and made him get up. She supported him and took him under the shade of a tree, to protect them from the thunder. Raghav fell down on her lap in pain, and she covered his back with her dupatta. It rained during the night, so Kalpi shielded him. They fell asleep in the same position.

When they woke up in the morning, they felt awkward, as they had spent the night in such closeness. The man returned with a doctor and a few more men. The doctor wanted to give Raghav an injection, but he was reluctant to take it, being afraid of injections. Kalpi went to stand afar so that he wouldn't feel uncomfortable due to her presence. A few children came to her to give her flowers, and she began to talk with them. Raghav kept staring at her lost. He didn't even feel it when the doctor gave him the injection and was surprised at his actions when the doctor told him so. "What is happening to me? I got so lost in Kalpi, that I didn't even feel the injections..."

He looked at Kalpi again, and asked her "Are you done with your socialising? We're getting late..."

As they were moving through the forest, they met up with Sammy and Maya, who had come looking for them.

Of course, by the end of the day, Raghav was back in his Khadoos form. But now, Raghav kept thinking about Kalpi and getting hallucinations of her all the time.
