"Fashionably late again I see..."-Arjun commented ushering Pakhi into the seat beside his.

"You would have noticed my presence earlier had you not been daydreaming about your Kalpana in the middle of the restaurant!"- Pakhi snapped back causing the people around them to turn and stare.

The bitterness in Pakhi's voice whenever she mentioned Kalpana's name never went amiss by Arjun and made him wonder whether there was more to Pakhi's intention than she led on. But he would often dismiss the thought just as quickly as it came realizing that she was merely helping him get back his Kalpu.

"So I see that my plan clearly failed. Tsk tsk."- Pakhi said taking a sip of her drink.


"Your plan? Am I missing out something here?"- Arjun asked completely clueless to what Pakhi was saying.

"Oh come on. Did you not even consider once why Kalpana was the only one who got hit in a crowded car park? Even you can't be that naive!"- Pakhi replied with a shrug.

"YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE?!"- Arjun snarled. "I thought we had agreed on causing no physical harm to either of them?"- he continued, his temper increasing by the second.

"Oh calm down lover boy... No pain no gain, remember? Besides, it's not like any major damage was done."- Pakhi explained without a hint of regret or guilt.

"Kalpu was unconscious for over twenty-four hours! I thought I had nearly lost her! What more damage could you have possibly done?"- Arjun retorted! He was almost on the verge of screaming now.

"Look, get a grip of yourself! And stop shouting. People are staring! And as far as Kalpana is concerned, I made sure no severe harm would be done. Plus if you had been smart enough to understand that this was all my doing, we wouldn't be sitting here and having this conversation. Instead you would have been with Kalpana and not Raghav!"- Pakhi hissed!

Arjun slummed back into his seat and was silent for a few moments because saying," What if Raghav or the police trace this accident back to you?"

"You don't have to worry about that. It's already been taken care of. With the right contacts and money, funny the things people are willing to do for you..."- Pakhi replied with a satisfied grin.


Arjun had become relatively calmer now but he still wasn't pleased with the fact that Pakhi had kept him in the dark. Nonetheless, he made no further comments and quietly sipped on his drink.


"Okay so let's not dwell on the past and focus on what our next step should be."- Pakhi said getting straight to the point and not wanting to waste any more time than they already had.

Arjun halfheartedly agreed but before getting down to business he made Pakhi promise that she would always keep him informed of whatever that was going on inside that scheming head of hers as he was not keen on putting anyone in danger, not even Raghav.

Pakhi reluctantly agreed and eventually the two got down to finishing the task which they had initially met up for...

A couple of hours later both Pakhi and Arjun walked out of the hotel with a satisfied look on their faces as if they were ready to conquer the world. With a quick hug, both quickly parted ways, each heading off to play his or her part!

It was way past dinner time when Kalpana finally woke up. She felt much better as the effects of the injections which were making her drowsy were finally wearing off.

The first thing which she noticed as she sat upright was Raghav sitting on the extra bed engrossed in his novel. Though visiting hours were over, as Kalpana had no family members present, Doctor Singh had made an exception allowing Raghav to stay overnight as Kalpana had now been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the private ward.

Just then Kalpana's stomach loudly grumbled causing Raghav to look up from his novel.

"You're up!"- Raghav said with a smile on his face. "And hungry too I presume."- he continued with a chuckle causing Kalpana to blush.

"Mum came by a while ago with your favourite sweet corn soup. Would you like me to pour some for you?"- Raghav informed Kalpana indicating to the bag on the bedside table.

"Yes, please. I'm starving!"- Kalpana replied gleefully just as her stomach growled again causing her to giggle.

"I haven't heard your laughter in a while. I was really beginning to miss it."- Raghav commented while pouring the creamy sweet corn soup from the thermos, into the bowl and placing the bowl in front of Kalpana.

Kalpana was too distracted by the aroma of the soup to reply to Raghav as she gulped down a spoonful.

"Better?"- Raghav asked perching down on the bed beside Kalpana.

"Perfect!"- Kalpana nodded enthusiastically, swallowing one bite after the other.

"When will you learn to eat properly? You know I won't always be around when you eat right?"- Raghav commented shaking his head while wiping Kalpana's mouth with a napkin. His hand lingered on Kalpana's face longer than it should have before he was forced to look away and break away from Kalpana's gaze.

"Raghav..."- Kalpana started but was silenced by Raghav.

"Please Kalpi... Not today!"- Raghav said getting up from the bed and walking over to his while Kalpana continued savoring her soup quietly.

Raghav continued reading his novel whilst waiting for Kalpana to finish her soup. Once she was done, Raghav quickly cleared away the bowl and placed the items back into the bag.

"All okay? Anything else I can get you?"- Raghav asked once he was done clearing up.

Kalpana knew Raghav was in no mood to talk but she wasn't going to give up that easily.

"Lay down beside me please..."- Kalpana asked, her eyes almost begging.

"I don't think that will be a very good idea Kalpi..."- Raghav said hesitantly.

But Kalpana kept looking at him pleading causing Raghav to leave behind his stubbornness as he kicked off his shoes and climbed in beside her. He wrapped his arms around Kalpana as she placed her head on his chest.

Giving Kalpana a quick kiss on her forehead, Raghav and Kalpana both drifted off into a peaceful sleep...

Now to any other person, this sight of Raghav and Kalpana would have brought a smile to their face but not to Arjun would banged his fist against the wall in anger as he watched the two from outside the hallway vowing to make Kalpana his, if that was the last thing he did...
