CHAPTER 29: THE CRAZY TRIP

"A ROAD HAS MANY TWIST AND TURNS. EVERY TURN LEADS TO A NEW DESTINATION. EVERY DESTINATION HAS ITS OWN STORY."

Raghav woke up by the sound of alarm and had a severe headache. He got flashbacks from last evening and his eyes went wide like saucers. He cursed himself for going weak infront of Kalpi "Oh God! Maine Kalpi se itni baat kyun ki? Kalpi ke saamne kamzor kaise padh gaya?" he got up and went to freshen up. Sammy came to his room only to find Raghav hold his head in pain. He asked him to come down for breakfast. Raghav got ready for office but his head was paining as if it would burst out anytime. He came down for breakfast and sat on his chair. Sammy shook his head and started making lemonade for Raghav's headache. Sammy handed him the lemonade and asked him to drink it. Raghav made a weird face and just kept the glass aside "Yeh Sammy bhi na..nimbupaani...chi..i hate it." Sammy looked at him and said "Dekh tu chup chaap isey peejaa. Varna main Kalpana ko..." Raghav's head atonce shot up and he asked "Kya? Ka..Kalpana ko kya?" Sammy took the chance and said "Kalpana ko yeh kehe doonga ki tu raat bhar nashe ki haalath mein sirf Kalpana ka hi naam le raha tha." He smirked and raised his eyebrows in a mischievious way. Raghav flinched and said "Maine Kalpana ka naam nahi liya. Aur tujhe kaise pata tu toh yahan tha bhi nahi." He at once gulped down the whole lemonade seeing Sammy taking out his phone and dialing Kalpana's number "Pee liya bas ab phone mat karna. Aur vaisey bhi dard hi jiski dawaa ho usey aur kisi cheez ki zaroorat nahi." Sammy shook his head and asked "Accha dard hi teri dawaa hai? Mujhe toh aisa nahi lagta." Raghav looked at him and said "Saaf saaf bol Sammy tu kya poochna chahata hai." Sammy looked at him and then said "Pakhi Kapoor. Kya hai tujhe ussey? Aur kal toh tu uske ghar bhi chala gaya usey bachaane ke liye." Raghav got up from his seat "Pakhi, Sahil Kapoor ki kamzori hai. Usey chot pohochaaunga toh Sahil Kapoor ko dard hoga. " Sammy looked in disbelief "Tu Sahil Kapoor ko barbaad karne ke liye Pakhi ka istemaal karega? Yeh thik nahi hai Raghav. Mana ki jo Kapoors ne tere saath jo kiya vo galat tha par ismey Pakhi ki kya galati hai. Lekin kya faida. Tu karega toh apne mann ki hi. Anyways main office jaa raha hoon. See u there." Saying so he left from there while Raghav was thinking about Sammy's words "Pakhi ki galati sirf itni hai ki vo Sahil Kapoor ki beti hai. Ab bas insaaf hoga. Sahil Kapoor ko main barbaad kar doonga." Suddenly his eyes fell on the glass in which Sammy gave lemonade and his expressions changed "Kya main sach mein Kalpi ka naam le raha tha neend mein? Nahi nahi yeh Sammy toh kuch bhi bolta hai. Par liya hoga toh. Sammy toh office gaya hai aur Kalpi toh office jaldi aati hai. Agar Sammy ne Kalpi ko bata diya toh kya karoonga. Bhaag Raghav. Jaldi office pohoch. Issey pehele ki Sammy Kalpi se kuch bol sake tu office pohoch." He took his coat, wallet and car keys and rushed out of the house.

Here Kalpi was busy working on some files when Pakhi entered the office. She was worried and that was evident from her face. Kalpi went to her with coffee and asked her to calm down as Raghav is not angry with her. Just then Raghav entered the office and saw Kalpi in Pakhi's cabin. A smile escaped his lips but no wonder he covered it very cleverly. Kalpi saw him and asked him to wait. Raghav did as he was asked "Chalo Sammy ne issey kuch nahi bataya..bach gaya Raghav." Kalpi came with Prasad and gave it to him. He thanked and went to his cabin. Pakhi came out to Kalpi when Ramu informed them that Raghav called both of them in his cabin "Madam. Sir ne aap dono ko cabin mein bulaya hai." Pakhi held Kalpi's hand while the latter assured her that everything would be fine. They both went towards Raghav's cabin.

Here Sammy was sitting with Raghav and saw him engrossed in some thoughts "Pata nahi Raghav Pakhi ko kyun apne badle ki aag mein jalaana chahata hai. Ab najaane yeh apne badle mein kya kya karega. Vaise isne inn dono ladkiyon ko achanak cabin mein kyun bulaya hai. Yahin baithta hoon, dekhta hoon iske dimaag mein aakhir chal kya raha hai." Sammy sat there waiting for the two ladies to enter. Just then both the girls knocked the cabin door. Raghav motioned them to enter while Sammy looked at him with confusion written all over his face. Raghav looked up at both of them and Kalpi's innocent eyes caught his attention but he controlled himself and diverted his attention towards his phone. Without looking up he said "Ms. Kapoor. Aaj humein housing project ki deal ke liye Alibaugh jana hai...be ready..hum dopeher ko niklenge." Pakhi asked him whether had to say something else but Raghav did not bother to answer that question. Kalpi turned to Raghav and said "Sir, mujhe ek problem hai. actually mujhe aai se permission leni padegi..." Kalpi could not complete her sentence as Raghav cut him off "Tumse kisne kaha ki tum bhi humare saath aarahi ho Ms. Jadav. Office mein bohot kaam hai tum uspe dhyaan do." This made Kalpi very confused "Arey khud hi toh bulaya tha..chod Kalpi." Sammy observed the changed behavior of Raghav but chose to stay mum and decided to wait for the right time "Yeh Raghav bhi na bohot ziddi hai..le kar jana chahata hai Kalpana ko par le jayega Pakhi ko..kya hoga iss aadmi ka." The girls left the cabin and so did Sammy.

Raghav got up from his seat and walked upto his cabin door. He looked at Pakhi's cabin through the glass "Aaj main apne maksad ke taraf apna pehela kadam loonga. Pakhi ko apne saath Alibaugh le kar jaunga aur ussey uske dil ki baat bulvaunga." Suddenly his eyes caught the number etched on his cabin walls. He looked at Kalpi who was busy doing her work "Kitni mehenat karti hai. Intelligent hai, smart hai, aur baat baat pe ladne ko tayiyaar reheti hai. Aam ladkiyon se kitni alag hai." He went out of the cabin and changed the number into 27. Kalpi looked at him while he went back into the cabin "Lagta hai bholapan chip gaya aur khadoospan bahar aagaya." She smiled and got back to her work. Here Raghav was finding it all the more difficult to keep himself away from Kalpi "Yeh kya ho raha hai mujhe. Manta hoon ki Kalpi mujhe pehele se hi apni taraf khichti aayi hai..infact bachpan se hi vo mujhe apni innocence aur simplicity se attract karti thi. Lekin ab toh jaise usey dekhe bina mera din hi nahi guzarta. Kya hai yeh? Uff...this girl is really something. Apni choti choti harkaton se humesha mujhe surprise kar deti hai jisse main khush ho jata hoon." Little did he know what was awaiting him.

At Kapoor's residence Manda is busy wiping the floor with soap water when Neetu comes and slips but balanced herself somehow "Manda!!! Kitni baar kaha hai iss floor ko sirf mop kiya kar." Manda makes some weird faces and continues wiping the floor. Neetu was in no mood to argue and thus leaves the topic and sits on the sofa. Just then Pakhi barges in the house and thud!!! She slips and falls down. She tried getting up but alas!! Her ankle got twisted. Manda and neetu helped her reach the room. She asked Manda to bring her purse "Manda!! Kahan hai mera bag." Manda rushes and gets the bag for her. Raghav and Sammy are in the car when Pakhi calls Raghav and tells that she won't be able to make it "I am so sorry sir. Main nahi aa sakti, mere pair mein mocha aagayi hai." Raghav asked if it was some excuse "Really?? Mujhe toh yeh ek perfect bahana sound kar raha hai." Pakhi told him that she could not even stand up forget about walking. Raghav agreed and gave her a leave "Ok. Tum rest karo. Aur bhi mauke milenge." With that he disconnected the call while Sammy gave a side smirk and said "Kalpana ko saath lekar jaa na." Raghav looked at him and said "Nahi main akele hi handle kar loonga." Sammy was not the one to give up and thus convinced him "Mujhe pata hai ki tu akele hi sab kuch handle kar lega par agar ek assistant saath hogi toh wahan se aane ke baad report banake sabko pass on kardegi. Main jata tere saath lekin meri meeting hai. Pakhi ke pair mein chot lagi hai. Toh bachi kaun...Kalpana. And she is the right one to be there. Usey iss project ke baarey sab kuch pata hai aur usi ke vajah se toh humein yeh project mila hai." Raghav knew that there was no point in arguing with Sammy as he was very well aquainted in convincing him "Tu nahi manega na. Kalpi ko mere saath bhej kar hi rahega. Thik hai. Ms. Jadav ko inform kar de ki usey mere saath jana hai." Sammy smiled and took out his phone while Raghav was in his thought "Yeh kya game khel rahi hai meri kismet. Jisy dur rakhna chahata hoon vo aur bhi paas aa rahi hai. Aur jisey paas lana chahata hoon vo dur jaa rahi hai. meri kismet bhi mera saath nahi de rahi hai. Pata nahi yeh Alibaugh ki trip mujhe kis mor par lekar jayegi." He loked at Sammy who was busy with his phone and started driving again. Sammy smirked thinking "Chalo akhir iske saath Kalpana hi jayegi...ab mazaa ayega. Main bhi dekhta hoon Raghav ki ab tu khud ko Kalpana se kaise dur rakhta hai." he dialed Kalpi's number.

Kalpi returned home and sat on the couch she was so busy cursing Raghav that she did not even hear Kamla asking her tea "Ajeeb aadmi hai. Pehele khud hi cabin mein bulate hain aur phir vapas bhej dete hain. Arey uss project pe maine bhi kaam kiya hai toh mujhe pata toh chalna chahiye na ki main uss project mein hoon bhi ya nahi." Kamla saw her muttering to herself and went to her "Kya hua Kalpi? office ki baat hai kya? Chal chai pee le dekhna bappa sab sahi karenge." Saying so she went to bring some tea. Just then Kalpi's phone rang. It was Sammy calling her. He asked her if she could make it for Alibaugh and the latter jumped up in joy. She at once went to Kamla and told her that she has to leave for Alibaugh with Raghav for housing project. Kamla was hesitant and thus Pakya supported Kalpi. he somehow convinced Kamla to call Vitthal and inform him but his phone was switched off. Hence Kalpi left for Alibaugh. Vitthal returned home and asked for Kalpi. Pakya told him that she has gone to Alibaugh. Vitthal's head shot up and asked Kamla if she went alone. Kamla told him that Raghav is with him. He sighed in relief that his princess was with a trusworth person.

Here in the car Raghav was finding it difficult to concentrate on driving with Kalpi beside him. It was not new for him to have Kalpi seated beside him in the car but each time she was with him something or the other was sure to happen. Either he would start scolding her for no reason or he would end up doing some kind of nonsense like the evening before. Kalpi was not the one who could sit quietly for a long time. Thus she started asking questions to Raghav "Sir, hum project ke bare mein baat karein. Like main jab project bana rahi thi.." she could not complete her sentence as Raghav put on his earplugs. But he forgat that the girl sitting beside him was Kalpi and not Pakhi. Kalpi noticed that Raghav did not connect the earplug wire to neither the phone nor the music player. She smirked and said "Earphones ek or kaano mein lagaye jaatey hain aur doosri or kisi music system mein. Yahan music system toh hia nahi toh phone mein hi laga lijiye." Raghav noticed the hanging connector and gulped "Main ek waqt pe sirf ek hi kaam karna pasand karta hoon." Kalpi took out the earphones from his ears which startled Raghav as no one till date dared to mess with him, but alas! This was not just anyone. It was Kalpana...She took out the earphones and said "Toh theek hai. Aap sirf gaari chalayiye. Vaise bhi aapke sir mein bohot dard ho raha hai na." Raghav looked ahead and said "Accha hoga agar tum apne bare mein socho aur apne hi bare mein socho. Samjhi Ms. Jadav." Kalpi turned making face and mumbled something about him "Pagal kahin ka. Pata nahi khud ko samajhta kya hai.." oblivious to the fact that she was audible enough to make Raghav smirk.

It was evening and due to the silence in the car Kalpi fell asleep. It was now even more difficult for Raghav to concentrate on driving with his sleeping beauty beside him "Uff..aur kitna control karoon. Pehele hi isey apne saath bitha kar drive thik se nahi kar paa raha tha. Phir isney baat karna start kar diya. Aur iski aawaaz sunne ke liye kaan taras jaatey hain baatein karegi tab toh hum Alibaugh kabhi phochenge hi nahi yahi ruk kar iski baatein sunta rehe jaunga. Ab jab kisi tarah isey chup karaya toh madam ko neend aagayi. Ab yeh meri galati thori na hai jo yeh sotey hue bhi itni khoobsoorat lagti hai. Meri aakhein road pe concentrate karey toh kaisey karey. Ab toh isey uthana hi padega varna pakka accident hoga kyunki main toh road se zyada apni iss sleeping beauty pe dhyaan de raha hoon." With that he purposely applied the breaks strongly which made Kalpi to wake up with a jerk. Kalpi's head jerked and she woke up. She looked at Raghav and thought "Kya musibat hai. Baap re!! inse khadoos aur rookha aadmi toh main kabbhi nahi dekha deva. Inko mujhse kya kya problem hai? Poochloon kya? Pooch hi leti hoon." She was about to ask him when her eyes fell on a couple asking for lift in the middle of the road. The lady was holding a baby in her hands. Raghav just drove past them while Kalpi was looking at them. Kalpi wanted to help the couple and asked Raghav to do the same "Sir, vo couple. Unhe madat ki zaroorat hogi. Humein unki maddat karni chahiye." Raghav knew this was coming so he said "Yeh highway hai. Yahan roz chori ,dakaiti, loot maar hoti hai. I am not stopping the car." Kalpi understood but she still wanted to help the couple "Sir, shayad aapne dhyaan nahi diya lekin uss couple ke saath ek baccha bhi tha. Mujhe vo couple normal lag raga tha sir. Please sir vapas chaliye na." Raghav looked at her and thought "Yeh ladki bhi na har kisi pe bharosa kar leti hai. Ab main isey kaise samjhaun ki har koi iske jaisa saaf dil waala nahi. But uss couple ke saath ek baccha tha toh..." he knew Kalpi would not listen to him and so he took a U-turn. Kalpi smiled and Raghav saw it.

They reached the place where the couple was standing and stopped the car. Raghav lowered the glass and the man asked for help. Just then the lady signaled the men hiding in bushes to attack Raghav and Kalpi. All the goons surrounded them and the man asking for lift now asked for the car keys. Raghav looked at Kalpi with the look of "See I told you." Kalpi knew that this time no one could save her from her akdoo boss. But the biggest question was how to escape these goons? They both got out of the car. The goons kept Raghav at the gun point which frightened Kalpi. Kalpi's heart skipped a beat on seeing Raghav at the gun point but she was yet to understand those feelings. One of the goons held Kalpi's hand roughly to take away the phone which made kalpi wincein pain. That was the last straw for Raghav he yelled at the goon and he left Kalpi's hand instantly. He punched the goons blue and black and at once moved to shield Kalpi. At first Kalpi was confused and too afraid to react. One look at the goons and she clutched Raghav's jacket as tightly as possible. Raghav understood that she was frightened but what she said next fueled Raghav's burning rage "Inke hathon mein chaaku hai sir. Aur mera haath bohot zor se pakda tha uss aadmi ne . Abhi tak dard ho raha hai." Raghav's eyes were red with rage. He pushed her behind him covering her from prying eyes. He kicked the goons one by one and within no time all were lying on the ground. But the goon who touched Kalpi was still standing there unharmed and made his way towards Kalpi and put the knife around her neck. Raghav was frightened and asked the goon to let Kalpi go.By this time all the goons were back on there feet. The goons asked him to hand over all his things and so Raghav took off his jacket,phone, watch and wallet and handed it to them. He even gave away his car keys to them. The goon putting knife around Kalpi's neck asked if the girl was valuable enough to be taken away. Kalpi flinched while Raghav was too afraid to lose her "Nahi..usey kuch mat karna. Maine tumhe sab kuch de diya hai ab usey chod do." The head of the gang asked the man to let Kalpi go while all the goons sat in the car. The goon holding Kalpi scratched Kalpi's neck with the knife leaving a scar there and drove off with his gang. Raghav's eyes widened and he rushed to check on Kalpi. She told him that she was fine. She felt miserably guilty for landing herself and Raghav in that situation.

Only if they knew that this night would mark them in eachother's mind, heart and soul for life or who knows even for each and every life. They would start a new journey with this night. It would become the most memorable night of their life as one would realize his feelings not only emotionally but physically also. While the other one would start understanding her new found feelings. This night would be marked as their first night of realizations, love and togetherness.
