CHAPTER 13: A NIGHT IN PUNE

"STRUGGLE IS PART OF LIFE. DO IT WITH FULL DIGNITY, CONFIDENCE AND HONESTY RATHER THAN COMPLAING. SUCCESS WILL SURELY BE YOUR BEST FRIEND."

After Kalpi got to know the identity of the person infront of him she just stood rooted in her spot. While Raghav had only one thought in his mind "Ab kya kahoonga issey." Kalpi tried reasoning and convincing him but he showed fake attitude. Once out of the washroom Kalpi again tried to convince him but to no avail. He moved ahead without turning. Kalpi was very much tired with all the running around. She asked for water but was to weak to hold the glass and thus the glass fell down and broke into pieces. The sound made Raghav turned around and looking at Kalpi's state he felt a pinch of guilt "Yeh mere peeche yahan Pune tak chali aayi aur maine isey kitni mehenat karwa di..." But Kalpi was strong enough to hold herself. Raghav saw this and felt relieved. He turned to leave but Kalpi was not the one to let go of him that easily and that too when she was determined to take him along with her. She ran to him and thus caught him on his way. Raghav looked at her but showed her fake ignorance. Kalpi pleaded him to come to Mumbai as the people there need him but he refused .

Raghav had a visitor and left with him. Kalpi was hurt thinking that the Raghav she knew was lost somewhere in America and went behind him and said "Thank you so much sir. Aaj aapne mujhe phir galat saabit kar diya. Jab aapne humare hotel ka bill pay kiya tha tab maine Prem se ek baat kahi thi. Duniya mein do kisam ke log hotey hain. Ek vo ...jo garib logon ka mazaak udatey hain aur doosrey vo..jo kabhi kisi ko takleef mein nahi dekh saktey." Raghav thought for a while and then threw away the file which brought by his employee "Yeh file tumhe kal dikhani thi.. aaj laaye ho aaj bhi incomplete hai. Kya hai yah haan.. designs incomplete hain, figures galat...I think you should leave you are fired." Unknown to them a paper flew from the file to Kalpi's feet. Kalpi picked it up and studied carefully. Raghav looked at her and she said "Sir main aapki file complete kar sakti hoon sir. Lekin please sir iske badle aap mere saath Mumbai chaliye." Raghav looked at her astonished "Ziddi kahin ki. Itna sab sunne ke baad bhi mujhe manane mein lagi hai. Kya karoon main apni iss befizool ki ziddi ka." Kalpi requested him for a chance. Raghav got up and asked "Really?" When Kalpi nodded in full confidence, he walked upto her with the files and said "Ok."

Its 9:00 pm and Kalpi is outside in the hotel compound still working on Raghav's file. Raghav removed the curtains of his room and saw his ziddi engrossed in work "Yeh ladki bhi na. Bahar itni thand hai aur yeh hai ki bahar hi baith gayi kaam karne. Kuch nahi ho sakta is ziddi ka." He called up someone and said "Vo jo madam bahar baithi hain unhe files aur apna saara saman lekar mere room mein aane ko kaho. Aur haan maine jo order place kiya hai usey do logon ke liye bana do." Kalpi was busy working when the waiter comes and said "Maam, Raghav sir ne aapko bulaya hai files aur aapke saarey samaan ke saath." Kalpi got up and followed the waiter. Raghav was waiting for her. When he heard the door click he sat down and started eating. Kalpi entered the room and Raghav straight away asked "Bhook lagi hai kuch khaogi?" Though Kalpi said a no but seeing him stuffing his mouth with that pizza she felt her stomach would burst out. Raghav saw the look on her face through the mirror. He smiled at her stubbornness. Raghav asked her to continue her work in the room itself "Bahar bohot thand hai. Yahin baith ke kaam khatam karo. Bahar rahogi toh thand mein sikur jaogi. Aur phir tumhari maa ka sapna toot jayega." Kalpi looked at him in pure shock "Yeh insaan hi hai na. Chod Kalpi lagta hai America mein log insaniyat bhool jaatey hain." Raghav got from his chair and went into his room but not before leaving two slices of pizza and a glass full of cold drink. He very well knew that this girl would surely feel hungry. Kalpi sat down and continued her work.

It was 3:00 am when her work was over. She started feeling hungry. Just then she saw the left over pizza and the cold drink. She went upto the table and thought "Kya karoon? Khaoon ya nahi Khaoon? Raghav ne poocha toh tha. Vaise bhi vo yeh nahi khayenge. Abhi toh ghode bech kar so gaye hongey. Kha hi leti hon. Bhook bhi mit jayegi aur khana waste bhi nahi hoga." Unknown to her someone was watching her every move from his room. Just like Kalpi, Raghav was also wide awake. He was waiting for her to complete her work so that he could have some peace. He went out to see whether she was still working and that is when he saw her wrapping up the work. The smile on her face told him that the work was complete. He stood there hiding watching her every move. Thus his face beamed with a big smile on seeing her eating. He closed the door as noiselessly as possible and went to sleep. At once sleep engulfed him. Kalpi finished her food and sat on the couch.Thinking about the day's event she didn't even realize when sleep engulfed her.

CHAPTER 14: THE POOR WINS THE STRUGGLE

"LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL GIFT TO A PERSON. DO GOOD TILL YOUR LAST BREATH FOR YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR SINS IN THIS VERY LIFE."

Next morning Raghav was the first one to open his eyes. The first thought he had was of kalpi. He at once got up from his bed and went out in the sitting area. The sight infront of him mesmerized him completely. Kalpi was sleeping peacefully and Raghav had an unknown smile plastered on his face. He was lost in the beauty infront of his eyes. He came out from his dreamland when his phone buzzed "Yeh main kya kar raha tha...lagta hai raat ko theek se neend nahi aayi." he closed the door behind him and went to attend the call. Kalpi woke up by the sound of the door closing. She at once went upto the table took all the files and opened the door to Raghav's room. Raghav was sitting on his bed fussing over his tab. Kalpi asks him to do a favour by checking the files and coming with her to Mumbai. Raghav smirked and asked without looking up from his tab "Tum ehesaan chahati ho ya apne zabardasti ke madat ka badla?" Kalpi wondered "Yeh Raghav toh pehele se bhi zyada khadoos ho gaya hai. Lagta hai America jaate waqt issey aliens kidnap kar ke le gaye hongey. Khadoos aur badtameez." Kalpi tried convincing him but he sternly said "Get out of my room and shut the door." Kalpi felt dejected and shut the door "Ab kya karoon? Kaise manau inhe?" Raghav saw her closing the door and thought "Yeh ladki mujhse vo sab karvayegi vo yeh chahti hai aur mujhe dekho main kar bhi raha hoon." He laughed at his own thought.

Kalpi was still thinking ways to convince him when Raghav stepped out of his room. He lookes at her pouting face and made a call "Haan ... main file reception pe chod raha hoon. Hmmm... aur tum log aagey badho aur iss deal ko seal kar do. Aur haan..driver se kehena gaari nikalde. Main Mumbai jaa raha hoon." Kalpi's smiled widely while Raghav took the file off and started reading "Kya file tayiyaar ki hai isne. Itni acchi tarah se toh main bhi nahi kar sakta." They both sat in the car and started off for Mumbai.

Here in the chawl, the lawyer came and said that Kamla had surrendered the chawl to the Kapoors for ten lakhs. All become shocked. Manda adds fuel to the fire by suggesting a house check. Kamla goes to the temple to ask for bappa's help. Meanwhile Vitthal, Pakya and Pakhi prays in the chawl temple for justice.

Raghav and Kalpi are on their way to Mumbai. kalpi thinks of calling Kamla and informing about their return but her phone's battery is dead. She asks Raghav for his phone and he gives it to he. She finds it difficult to understand the touch screen technology. Raghav sees this and takes the phone from her hand. He dials Kamla's number and gives it to Kalpi. Kalpi looks at the screen and is shocked too see that Raghav has saved Kamla's number as Maa "Inhone aayi ka number maa ke naam se save kiya phir bhi ek baar bhi aayi se milne nahi aaye. Khadoos kahin ke." Kalpi disconnects the call as the number is said to be switched off. Kalpi is all tensed and asks Raghav to drive faster. Raghav stops the car and looks at her intently while she looks sideways in a bit fright. Raghav thinks of irritating her a little and says "Aao tum gaari chalao." Kalpi looks at him and says "Par mujhe gaari chalani nahi aati." Raghav smirked knowingly and said "Toh phir chup chaap baitho aur mujhe chalane do apne tarike se." Kalpi becomes quite. Raghav sees some shops and gets something to eat on the way. He offers it to Kalpi but she denies. Raghav sternly says "Aagey yeh traffic dekh rahi ho. Yeh gaari udd (fly) nahi sakti. Pet mein kuch daal lo varna bhook lagni shuru ho jayegi." And forcibly gives the packet of chips to her.

Here Kamla reaches Siddhi Vinayak mandir and starts praying to bappa. Raghav and Kalpi enters Mumbai and Kalpi asks Raghav if he has some proof regarding the chawl but she gets no reply from him. While Raghav thinks "Sab kuch toh pehele se hi plan kar chika tha. Ab bas unn Kapoors ki haari hui shakal dekhni baaki hai." Kamla reaches chawl and Kapoors to enter at the same time. Kamla goes up and says "Agar yeh chawl tooti toh meri saasein isi chawl ke saath toot jaayegi." Here police gives orders to break the chawl and all the chawl people are stuggling to break free. The bulldozer is just about to reach the chawl when a car comes and stops infront of it. Everyone was shocked. Raghav stepped out of the car along with Kalpi. With full authority he asks the driver to stop the bulldozer right there "Ab issey aagey nahi badogey." The police approaches him and he says giving the legal documents "Yeh chawl toot nahi sakti inspector saab. Kyunki yeh zammen aur yeh chawl aaj bhi Sighanias ki hai." Prem comes and asks his identity "Kaun hai tu aur iss chawl ko kyun bachana chahta hai?" Raghav leaned agaist the car and said "Raghav Singhania." Every chawl member was happy and came running to him as their Singhania seth has come back. Kalpi was just looking at Raghav and thinking "Inhone sab kuch pehele se kar rakha tha. Phir bhi humein ladne diya. Samajh nahi aata yeh chahta kya hai. Apne hak ki ladai kaise ladi jaati hai koi humse seekhe aue kaise sikhai jaati hai vo inse." Raghav knew that Kalpi was looking at her.

Sahil and neetu come forward and says that the property is theirs while Raghav says "Logon ko dhoka dene ki aadat na toh meri hai aur na mere pita kit hi. Yeh chawl papa ne inn logon ke liye hi banwaya tha aur yeh chawl inhi ka hai." Prem gets furious and decides to break the chawl himself. He goes to the driver and pulls him down. Raghav sees the entangled rope on his foot and smiles thinking "Tut toh gaya. Mere hotey hue tu iss chawl ko chub hi nahi sakta thodna toh bohot door ki baat hai." He pulls the rope and Prem falls down. Kalpi giggles while Raghav gives a side glance. Vitthal smiles widely and Pakya declares "Bhaiyon hum ladai jeet gaye." Kalpi smiles seeing everyone happy while Raghav smiles seeing Kalpi happy.
