Which is why I also like Svaamini Booa.
She loves Virain as her own son and this has been shown to us in many ways throughout the show.
She is not really the villain - she is just principled, disciplined, and likes to live by rules and regulations. So she does not gel well with Maanvi's personality which is more free-spirited and mischievous. However, she is compassionate and understanding when faced with Virain's needs or Maanvi's illness.
This is love, too - from one human being to another, in spite of not seeing eye-to-eye.

I have to say I have never seen a cancer track in a Indian serial before,and I think it is important to see a side of someone who has cancer makes you realize their pain and how strong they are as well as the family, I love the story line!!!

They are handling it rather well, aren't they?!
I'll grant that they are making some goofs here and her regarding cancer, its treatment, time lags, etc., but in the interests of a daily Soap, these are easily overlooked.
CVs have put effort into developing not only the characters - with very good dialogues! - but also a good story line with good direction, editing, and presentation.
