Today was the day. The day of their wedding. Nerves were running high around. Maanvi was sitting in the large room of the manor side, the glass windows overlooked the large garden in the back, filled with spring flowers. The block colours colliding with the greenest grass. She smiled at the thought of the moments she had in gardens such as these with Virat. Together for 4 years now. Yet their journey seemed like it had only began. They were many girls around her, running about. Everyone was in a hurry. This was making Maanvi nervous. She felt uneasy by the nerves in the room but couldn't bring herself to be excused for fresh air as a make-up artist stood near her, applying her make-up for the wedding day.
'Maanvi, are you ready?' She heard her mother say. She looked over to the door where her mother stood. Trying to usher everyone out of the way and making her way to where she sat.
'Hmm', Maanvi said lazily. She closed her eyes as her make-up artist started applying the eye shadow and then opened to see her mother sitting beside her, looking at the makeup around her. Maanvi smiled nervously with the overwhelmingly feeling.
'Are you okay? Her mother asked, acknowledging her nervous expression, she placed her hand on hers. Maanvi sighed at the comforting touch and smiled at her to convince her otherwise. Her mother smiled brightly and lone tear escapes from her eye which she wiped instantly, Maanvi pouted at this making her mother laugh.
Her dad walked in that moment to where they were sitting, 'So who is getting married today?', he asked.
'Me Dad' Maanvi laughed. 'Just hoping my makeup doesn't melt off from the nerves', she added.
'Maanvi, you look beautiful', he sincerally replied.
'Thanks Dad' , she smiled. As his dad leaned in to peck her cheeks and she did the same.
'What's this?, she asked as her mother pulled out a small cloth in which there was a gold kangan with little muticoloured stones, shimmering. Resembling the one she was wearing on her wrist.
'Do you think I forgot? Your grandmother's kangans. Both of your sisters have one of each. Since I had four, this is my last one to give out. To my darling youngest daughter', she said, sliding the kangan onto her wrist as Maanvi grinned.
'Mum, I love this kangan!' , she exclaimed brightly and leaned in to peck her cheeks. Her mother kissed her forehead.
'Alright, enough of being senti as Maanvi says', Maanvi's dad said, as the mother daughter pulled apart and they both laughed. 'I am going to the main hall to welcome the guests and your mother will stay here, hopefully not crying', he added, glancing a look at his wife who chuckled and nodded in agreement.

Virat was sitting in the mandap with a few of his friends around him as he was waiting for his bride. They still had few minutes before Maanvi was going to be called to the Mandap and his friends didn't leave a chance to tease him. 'Do you think she will turn up?' Viren asked nervously as Arjun casually replied 'don't think so mate'. They smirked at his expressionless face.
'Thanks for easing the nervousness guys, much appreciated', Virat stated sarcastically and they playfully patted him on the shoulder.
'No worries buddy, we will be always there for you', Arjun replied.
'Don't worry Virat, she will turn up. I mean she might'' Jeevika said as Viren looked at her and they both laughed. Virat looked at Jeevika, surprised by what she said. He decided to stop listening to them and was beginning to tell them something but suddenly stopped mid-sentence to see his bride coming down the aisle to the mandap. Wearing a beige lehenga and dupatta with a red cropped choli. She looked at him and smiled, Virat smiled in return. Mesmerized by every step she took. Virat stood up to help her settle down next to him.
'You look beautiful', he said, after they both sat down.
'Thankyou', Maanvi quietly replied. Flashing a smile at him.
'Finally decided to turn up, he said sarcastically.
'I was having last minute thoughts about this. Then I remembered how much this wedding had cost so I decided to turn up', she replied and he nodded in understanding, making both of them smile. 'Are you nervous?' he asked. As she looked around the hall.
'Yes', she confessed.
'Why?' he asked.
'Well right now cause people are looking at me, which is making me a bit dizzy. I swear I heard one of the aunty say that my dupatta is placed weirdly', she said, adjusting her dupatta on her head so it covered her whole head. She was new to this. She had never covered her head before and it felt weird, alien like, to cover it now but as they were sitting in the mandap, she didn't have a choice.
'Maanvi your dupatta is fine. Here, look at me', he said as Maanvi turned sideways to look at him. They both smiled at each other and got few 'aw' and 'ohh' from the guests and their friends sitting nearby and Maanvi shyly looked at the front and Virat laughed and muttered to Viren that the next wedding is his so he will have his revenge. Both of them leaned forward and muttered sweet nothings to each other during the wedding.

'Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Vadhera', said the dj in the mike as Virat and Maanvi walked hand in hand together. The venue hall was decorated with cream and purple decors. The lighting was dim as chandeliers and table decor lamps were lit up in the room. They were led up to the cake, which stood in the middle. 3 tiered cream coloured cake.
Cakes do have a significant part in our story don't they? 'He whispered as she chuckled, remembering the first time they met. How he had cut her birthday cake and ate it without any worry in the world. They both clutched the knife making Maanvi's heart accelerate from the touch. They cut the cake and Maanvi fed him a big slice and he gulped it which made Maanvi laugh. He in turn fed her a smaller size after she whispered 'diet' to him making him sigh to why she needed to do that.
'Wait, is this''she trailed of, chewing the cake slowly. Her hand covering her mouth.
'I asked them to replace the original order cream with Ben and Jerry's vanilla ice-cream', he answered proudly and seeing the expression on his wife, he was proud that he did. She beamed brightly.
'No way! Officially the best husband! 'Maanvi exclaimed, wanting to hug him but the large crowds of people sitting in front of her made her think otherwise.
'Why thank you. Keep the compliments coming', he replied, wiping the left ice-cream on her lip corner and winking.
'Now for the first dance as Man and Wife', the dj announced as Virat held her hand and led them to the dance floor. Her arms wound around his neck and his arms around her waist. They swayed non-rhythmically as Virat wasn't the best dancer. Maanvi swayed un-rhymically by the nerves and the glances of people shooting in her way. Virat saw this and decided to ease the nerves as he knew getting Maanvi talking was the best way forward.
'Do you remember the our first date?', he asked, snapping her out of the thoughts.
'Yes, the mexican resturant', she replied, reminsicing.
'The day we kissed we in the resturant', he replied.
'Virat, we didn't kiss that day?', she asked confusedly, she moved her face up to look into his eyes.
'Didn't we? Oh I must be confusing our date with another date I had', he replied sarcastically, followed by Maanvi's jaw dropping'
'Virat!', she shrieked quiety, playfully punching him on his chest.
'Joking. Peace', he said.
'Oh that shopping centre', she remembered, the biggest shopping centre she ever laid eyes on. Virat's eyes narrowed at his wife's attitude towards anything to do with shopping.
'Mall', he corrected, subconciously.
'Shopping centre', she said.
'You have to start saying mall now since your going to be living in America', he stated.
'But I'll miss the rain', she whined.
'Hmm.. I will install the paper showers fire alarms in the patio so you can just stand there whenever you want rain', he suggested as Maanvi sighed. 'Where do you get these bright ideas'.
'Since I am married to you know, I ought to get a little smart', he replied.
'So what do you think our future life will be like?' he asked, breaking the silence as more couples had joined them on the dance floor, which meant all of the eyes weren't on them.
'Definitely not boring and-'she said.
'And', he cut in.
Perfect! She exclaimed as he leaned in closer to her and kissed her cheek.
'Always', he answered.
