I'm back with my everlong update as promised. After this, my updates will be spontaneous, will either do it weekly or twice a week, not too sure. I know I am really cheesy in some parts of the story but what can I do, I'm a hopeless romantic.😍 I know I said I will be updating at the weekend but it was really busy with family gatherings and all. The next update of Closer will be the last. Hope you guys like it and do comment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flight arriving from Amsterdam.

Virat was standing in the crowds at the arrivals waiting for Maanvi. Crowds shuffled ahead of him as his eyes scanned around in search for her. His eyes fell on a familiar girl who walked in at that moment. She was wearing black skinny jeans and a baggy off the shoulder grey jumper. She stood at the arrivals looking around, searching for someone. He sighed and grinned, his breathing accelerating just by the sight of her. It was his Maanvi.

'Maanvi', he shouted to get her attention.

She spun around on hearing the familiar voice too quickly almost making her light headed. She saw him and smiled brightly. She hurriedly dragged her suitcase to where he was standing. Pushing people along and mummering sorries as Virat chuckled at her actions. She spun her arms around him as he held her waist and they both hugged. They stood there for minutes just clutching onto eachother.

'I have missed you so much', he admitted as he kissed her forehead as she closed her eyes at his touch.

'Missed you more', she argued, smiling.

'Not possible', he exclaimed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

' So they finally let my girlfriend go?', Virat said to Maanvi as he drove to his flat. Maanvi was leaning slightly on the car window.

' Virat, I had only gone for a week', she answered.

'A week?!', he shrieked, turning to face her, giving her a baffeled look. She smiled.

'Cognitive conference was important. It helped me get a job! I can't believe that I got a job in London', she enthusiastically replied.

'So proud of you, my Psychologist girlfriend', he grinned, taking hold of his hand and clutching it tightly.

'I'm proud of you, my lawyer boyfriend', she said, excited.

'Wow Maanvi,we are really growing up', he said and she nodded. Both of them laughed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Virat sat on the sofa at his flat waiting for her. He flicked through the tv channels boredly.

'Maanvi, today will be good', he shouted, leaning against the sofa.

'2 minutes', she shouted from the other room.

He mummered under his breath as he leaned on the side to leave the remote. He quickly realized something and sat still. Shocked.

'Where is the freaking ring?', he thought. He swore he kept it in his trousers pocket. He quickly got up and searched his pockets. He felt a sign of relief when he felt the ring in his back pocket and he sighed and sat back on the sofa.

'I'm ready!', she exclaimed, walking in the living room. He smiled at her as she spun around, spinning and posing in her dark green cocktail dress. He walked over to where she was standing and held her by her waist, smirking at her as she smiled.

'You are such a tease', he whispered in her ear. His husky voice sent shivers to her body.

'You are easily teasable', she kissed his cheek.

'Really?' he asked, leaning in closer to kiss her neck.

'Yes',she answered. Getting out of his grasp. 'Let's go now, I'm hungry'

'You are always hungry', he said.

'So true!', she exclaimed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Virat and Maanvi arrived at the Ivy restaurant. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. Glass windows surrounded the modern restaurant. Antique mirrors were hung on the dark walls. Glass tables were arranged with distance between them with thick maroon chairs. Small gothic table lamps lit up the atmosphere. The resturant was quieter then most.

'Sir, you're table is ready. This way', the waiter spoke and guided them towards the table in the far corner. The waiter pulled the chair as Maanvi hestitantly sat on it and smiled at the waiter, thanking him.

'Virat, isn't this too much', she quietly said.

'Maanvi, where do you think I was going to take you? McDonalds?, he asked, smirking.

'But I like McDonalds', she pouted. Don't diss it. I knew we were going somewhere fancy but not this fancy'.

'Do you want a cheeseburger on the way back?', he asked.

'Yes please!', she replied, her eyes lighting up.

They had eaten their food quicker then usual and by 10pm they were strolling down to the park of the resturant. It was on the opposite side of the building and completely empty.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Where are we going?', she asked him as they walked, hand in hand.

'There', he moved his gaze to a gazebo, she followed his gaze and stood astounished. The white gazebo in the garden shone brightly. It was lit up with bright orange fairy lights. The white gazebo resembled the moon and the fairylights resembled the dazzling sun. He looked at her face as she stared at the sight infront of her. She was mesmorized. It looked special. Something out of the world. He walked with her to the gazebo, smirking at the fact that she was bewildered.

'This is soo beautiful!', she exclaimed, admiring the sight infront of her. She looked over to the lake on the side. The gazebo stood by the side of the dark lake. The fairy lights reflecting on the pitch black water. It reminded her of the night he first confessed to her and she smiled.

'Had a feeling you would like it', he said as they walked up the few steps into the bright gazebo.

'This must be used for wedding ceremonies right? It's really big', she said, looking around the gazebo as they stood there, overlooking the lake.

'Probably', he bit his tongue from smiling at her thought.

'This is really nice but why are we here?', she asked confused, looking at his face, he looked back, smiling and spun her around swiftly, she stood there shocked.

'Care to dance?, he asked her, sneering.

'Um Virat, there isn't any music', she asked, puzzled.

'We don't need music', he grinned, holding out his hand.

'Your cheesy', she answered, suspiciously. She knew Virat very well. He wasn't that romantic but when he wanted to suprise her or wanted things to go his way,he acted like this.

'You love it', he replied, grabbing her hand slowly and his other hand went behind her waist as he clutched her tightly and began to sway unrhythmically.

'True', she confessed. Swaying in his arms as he led. The sway was more beginning to be more tuned. 'Thank you for this. This has been a wonderful day', she replied, leaning her head on his hard chest.

'Thanks for being here with me', he said and a few minutes later as silenced surrounded them , they danced together in silence.

'Maanvi', he asked

'Hmmm', she replied.

'I wanted to say something to you', he nervously stated.

'Yes', she answered.

'We have been together for a year now. You might think it's too soon', he said.

She couldn't understand what he was trying to say. Being with him for all these months, she knew when he was nervous, he tended to leave his sentences in the middle without finishing them off. She stood there, trying to read between the lines of his meaning. She looked shocked. Her eyes grew bigger and her face flustered. She stopped moving and stood still.

'What was he suggesting', she thought as she looked up in his soft eyes, her eyes questionning.

'Virat, you know I don't believe in... ' she quietly replied.

'Huh', he stated, looking confused.

'Before marrigage', she replied.

'What?', he asked, still confused. Staring at her flushed face, he realized what he she was thinking and he smirked.

'Really', he asked, leaning in closer. Maanvi shyly looked at the floor.

He got down on one knee as Maanvi looked confused and he sighed and she realized what he was trying to do. She put a hand over her mouth in suprise. Her eyes filled up.

' Maanvi, we had both known eachother for years. I know I didn't exactly make the best first impression, eating your birthday cake and making you cry', Maanvi laughed between the teary eyes. ' He continued 'But learning from the previous mistakes, I promise to keep you happy. I want to wake up to your face every morning and close my eyes at night next to you. I cannot think of spending my life without you. You mean the most to me. Everyday with you is like my first'. She smiled at him as she wiped her tears. He got the ring out of his pocket and held it up.

'I actually don't know how to do this nor am I great with my words just that I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you', he simply stated and she smiled at his sincere words.

Maanvi, will you marry me?, he asked, staring at her. His breathing was ragged then usual. She cupped his face with her hands and kissed him and he kissed back as he smiled inbetween.

'I guess that's a yes', he exclaimed, when they pulled away.

'Of course silly',she stated and hugged him tightly. He kissed her forhead and put the saphire ring on her finger and kissed her hand.

'I wanted to propose to you something near the water and the bathroom didn't really cut it', Maanvi chuckled. 'I first told you I liked you by the docks and I wanted to propose near the water thus the lake'.

'This was just perfect', she exclaimed as they kissed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Don't be nervous', Maanvi whispered, sorting out his collar on his white shirt as he had just come back from his last day at the firm. They were both standing in the hallway of Maanvi's house. He looked at her hand, which were bare without any engagement ring. He smiled at the thought of Maanvi wearing an engagment ring when her parents would agree to their engagement.

'Easy for you to say. You're not the one asking for your hand', he whispered, sighing.

'Huh, don't be confused. Don't rumble', she instructed him. Pecking him on the cheek.

'Maanvi, I don't rumble you do', he replied, smiling at her as she pulled back. 'And besides I already know how the conversation will go, I will go in there and you're dad will try to kill me first and If I survive he will say we are too young'.

'He will say nothing like that. He likes you', she answered. She knew that her dad will approve her choice if he thought he was good enough for her. Maanvi was his dad's life. He would never refuse her and especially not on Virat's account as he was easily likeable and everybody liked him.

'He will hate me after what I'm going tell him', he argued.

'No he wouldn't. Just don't let him go near the bookshelf drawer', she said softly, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

'Why?', he asked, dumbfolded.

'We keep a gun there', she said in a serious tone.

'Whaaat?', he shrieked, exaggerating.

'Just joking', she admitted, smiling sarcastically. She pushed him into their living room and he stumbled in.

'Here goes', Virat thought.

'Hello Uncle', Virat said, smiling and walking along to greet Maanvi's dad. He hugged him and motioned him to sit down 'Hello Virat beta. How are you?', he asked.

'I'm good Uncle, how are you?', he asked.

'Doing good beta. You never come to visit us anymore? You dad told me you got a job with RS chartered lawyers in Seattle', he asked.

'Yes, I'm starting next month', he replied.

'I'm not suprised. Such a hardworking young man', he praised him as Maanvi peeked in the living room, smiling.

'Thanks Uncle', he smiled.

'Maanvi said you wanted to meet me to ask something', he asked.

Maanvi's mother came in the next minute, carrying tea and cupcakes.

'Hello Aunty', Virat greeted her mother.

'Virat beta, how are you?', she asked, handing him the tea.

'Good Aunty thanks', he replied, taking the tea. Maanvi gasped at this. 'Virat never drinks tea, he only drinks coffee', she thought. He must be really nervous she thought as she felt sorry for what he was going through.

'Maanvi is always baking so I thought today I would do the same. They are really good, here take some', Maanvi's mother said, holding the plate infront of Virat as he took a cupcake and thanked her.

'This is really good', he said to her mother as he ate the cupcake and then left the leftover on the small plate as his head snapped up to look at her parents who were smiling at him. 'Uncle, I wanted to say something to you actually ask you something', he said.

'What is it beta?', Maanvi's dad asked as her mother looked at her husband in confusion by the tone of Virat's voice. 'Um... ' Virat said, looking around the room and sighed, looking directly in their way. ' The thing is, Maanvi and I like eachother', he stated as he tried to read the expression on their faces. They looked confused then looked at eachother. Her mother smiled as his dad looked in his way with no expression.'I know my parents should be talking to you about this and they will. I just wanted to come to you first to officially ask for your daughter's hand in marriage', he added.

'Maanvi come in here', her mother stated as Maanvi walked in slowly and Virat turned around to face her. She sat on the same sofa as Virat.

'So you both like eachother', Maanvi's dad asked in a serious tone and they both nodded. 'You know what you are doing Virat. I mean you both are still really young', her mother asked. Maanvi looked at Virat in confusion and he smiled at her and turned sideways to convince her parents.

'I know that we are too young to be married and we don't want to be married until we are evolved in our careers and have saved up and managed for the future. We want to be engaged cause we like eachother and we want to be in a proper commitment', He spoke confidentally as Maanvi looked in his way, baffled.

'In that case, what can I say?' her father stated, leaning back on the sofa. Virat and Maanvi looked at eachother, bewildered.

'Dad, do you approve?', Maanvi asked in a soft voice. Her dad nodded as her mother smiled. Maanvi beamed and ran over to hug her dad tightly mummering thank you. Virat got up and hugged her mother and then walked over to hug her dad as Maanvi stood by her mother grinning. She bit her bottom lip in happiness as Virat looked in her way and beamed.
