Hello lovely people,
So I am back with Chapter 3 of our story. I deeply regret the delay, but personal life kept me onn my toes.I dedicate this chapter to my 3 little munchkins Castile, Nik03 and Tiina28, all 3 of whom I want to pamper to the hilt.
I would not want to waste any more time of yours. So lets proceed to Chapter 3.
GOODBYE SHRAVAN -PART 3
Suman and I smiled at each other and released our hands.
She looked at me ruefully and said "Hi Seher. I apologise for just barging in here like this. Actually, these page 3 parties usually unnerve me , I have heard a lot about you, actually seen you on TV as well..you know, you sure are a very famous lawyer. "
I was still intrigued by her smile which didn't seem to leave her face for a second, and the beauty it added to her face could not be ignored.
"Well. .aapke Husband se toh kaafi kam hai mera fame Suman, after all Shravan is the youngest lawyer to be entering the Supreme Court. He has taken the entire bar council by storm after the news was out. You must be a very proud wife." I replied.
Congratulations were definitely in order there. Shravan truly deserved it.
"Oh trust me, I am swelling with pride right now " she chirped.
"I can imagine, waise aapne mere baare mein kissse suna hai? Media se?" I asked eager to know the source.
"Shravan se" She answered with the smile still lingering on her lips.
"Really. .that's interesting. Kya bataya hai usne?" I enquired.
"Aur kitnaa?"I thought to myself.
"Sab kucch " She replied looking a tad serious, her face clearly depicting that she had read my mind completely, including the last question.
"Hmm" was the best I could respond at that point.
"Shall we grab a chair if you don't mind, actually I always prefer sitting down to chat " she offered .
"Sure, I would love that myself " I immediately agreed.
So we walked down to a couple of comfortable looking chairs near the pool and settled ourselves there. I quite liked the location of our seating. It kind of hid us from the eyes of the other guests while we were offered a good view of them ourselves.
I took a quick glance at the bar. Rishabh was still nursing his drink while talking to a very famous model known for her striking looks. A pang of immediate annoyance that hit my heart surprised me as well.
"All okay Seher " Suman enquired with a concern.
"Oh yeah " I laughed it off and added "Just looking around . Hey, I forgot to wish you on your special day. I understand that you were officially proposed for marriage on this day last year , Congrats on the anniversary ".
"Thanks, yeah it's a truly special day" Suman agreed with her face beaming at the wishes.
"Great. So what has Shravan told you about me? All good I hope" Curiosity was definitely getting better of me there.
"Yehi, that Papa, I mean my father in law and your Dad are good friends, you were his junior in Oxford, also his debate partner there and you guys used to win he championship every single time and also that you even worked under him as an intern once you graduated " She chatted away.
"Aur..' She was clearly hesitating.
"Aur yeh ki mujhe Shravan se pyaar ho gaya tha, ke Seher naam ki ek paagal ladki thi jisne Oxford jaane ke liye din raat sirf isliye mehnat ki kyonki woh wahan padhta tha, jisne law min major kiya taki Shravan uska senior rahe, jo ladki pehle theek se bolne se bhi darti thi ,par jisne debates mein sirf isliye participate karne ki himmat ki , kyonki woh debates ka champion tha.
.
Jisne doosre firms ke zyaada stipend wale internships chodkar Shravan ka firm sirf isliye join kiya taki woh uske saamne rahe,
Jisne ek qualified and capable lawyer hone ke bawajood bhi idiots ki tarah uske auraton ke opportunist hone wale ilzaam ko kabhi bhi contest nahi kiya, sirf isliye kyonki woh kisi bhi maamle mein Shravan se ladna nahi chahti thi , jo uske India wapis jaane ki khabar sunkar airport bhaagte hue gayi ussse yeh kehne ke liye ki Shravan, mat jaao, I love you, yehi sab right?" I retorted in sarcasm. I was sure now that she knew every little thing.
I caught her shifting a little awkwardly on her seat at that.
"Haan woh bhi" the smile quickly regained it's place on her face ,I noticed.
"Okay " was all I could offer her.
"Seher, trust me, mujhe is baat se koi diqqat nahi hai ki tumhe kabhi Shravan se pyaar tha. Pyaar kabhi bol kar ya plan karke kahan hota hai. .woh toh bas ho hi jaata hai na" she sounded reassuring.
"Pyaar. .Haan pyaar toh unreasonable hai. Par meri life mein pyaar bolkar aaya tha. Papa ne jab bataya ki Ramnath uncle ka beta aa raha hai hamare pass London mein, tabhi se ek ajeeb si khushi thi man mein, weird feeling, jaise kuch Acha hone wala tha mere saath " I recited dreamily.
I caught her colour fading for a fraction of a second there before she nodded her head.
"I am sorry Suman, I just took off there ,I mean yeh sab purani baatein hai, kuch yaadein jo peeche choot gayi hai ab ". I was on a damage control. Whatever made me go down that memory lane in front of Shravan's wife, I cursed myself. I usually took so much pride in my self control.
"Arre bilkul nahi, You are totally justified. Also, I can never have enough of his London tales. He has taken me through everything in detail, but I still cling on to every tidbit that I get about his life there. I somehow miss him less that way" she sounded wistful then.
I couldn't quite get that last part she said about missing him though.
Suddenly Suman interrupted my thoughts "Phir kya hua Seher? "
"London aane ke baad Shravan kuch din hamare saath raha , around 10 days, till his admission formalities were sorted and then he moved to his hostel. In those 10 days, my parents and I tried as best as we could to blend him in with us.
But there was something about the boy. He was so bottled up. I rarely saw him smile. The only people who used to call him were his dad and his cousin. He looked tired, hurt, his mouth was closed but his eyes used to speak a thousand words. He was with us in person, but his soul was somewhere out there searching for something..someone. He looked broken, you know like someone who has been cheated, robbed, like someone who has been. ."
"Abandoned " Suman completed it for me, her voice now a hoarse whisper, her face now totally pale.
To be continued..
