Chapter 23
"Yeh pagal hai kya! " I sat on the bed, and laughed at my own destiny! Could I be ever happy! I looked around the room, which looked more like a five star hotel room to me, everything was so expensive! Yes I had been living in this room for past one week, but never really concentrated on the surroundings! I felt so out of place!
I laughed again, this was the room, when I first met Shravan, with all his pain, secrets, self-loathing! I still remember, that day when Alisha came to invite him, on her wedding! Then our crazy make outs on this bed! Planning for marriage! Yes from there it only went downhill! He never really opened his heart for me, I was never really that important for him! Was it all because of Alisha, he was conscious around me, or the truth, that my parents... "ohhh " my head would explode, "Why is it always me God! Why me! " I looked up, but could only see a fan ogling me from there! I sighed.
Last twenty four hours, just in twenty four hours, my life had become upside down, again!! I really, was happy, after listening to Alisha, I thought, I understood why Shravan reacted like that on that day, but no, there was a bigger reason it seemed! "Why did you do this to me Shravan, why! " I fell on my back, on the bed, my legs dangling to the floor.
Tap-tap, a sound, on my door! I sat up, expecting him to return, with another round of crazy reactions!
It was Rajni Amma, "Madame, aapne kuch khaya nahin, Shravan baba, aapko yeh soup deneke liye kaha! "
I sighed, "Aap rakh di jiye! " I eyed at the table.
"Main andar nahin aa sakti, Baba ne mana kiya hai! " she was clearly uncomfortable!
"To fir, Shravan baba ko jaake kahiye, yeh soup woh khud kha le, yaa fir feink de! " I shouted.
"Thik hai, main andar aa rahi hoon! " I really pitied this old woman, she was just a caretaker after all! She put the bowl on the table, and turned towards the door, she held the handle of the door for a brief second, and hesitated!
"Shravan baba bahut achche hai, bass unka tarika... Bahut kuch dekha hai unhone itne kam umra mein, isiliye shayad, aap basss,.. " she fumbled.
"Amma, please, I am really not in a mood for all this! Would you please,... " I snapped!
"Sorry.. I was just.. " nodding she closed the door from outside!
"Achche insaan... Huhhh! " I murmured!
I panicked, really panicked, seeing Aditya, there! I thought, he would do something really bad to me! He did! But, it was not what I thought! The very revelation he made, he showed me the papers to prove his words! How could Shravan do this to me! I was devastated, I roamed around, I didn't know, where to go, then thought of confronting him!
And he pleaded, the pain in his eyes, slayed me from inside, but again, he just...he just... Again a tap on my door, this time louder. Why the hell everyone knocking, I was imprisoned, I rolled my eyes.
"Sumo...main andar aaun?" Pushkar called out from outside.
I didn't bother to answer, I just sat on my bed!
He opened the door, and entered "thik hai tu? "
"Haan, koi kami nahin hai yahan! Mujhe aur kya chahiye! " I rolled my eyes mentally!
"Dekh Sumo... Pushkar regarded me with a grim expression; "I know ki tu bhaiya se naraz hai! Par.. " he eyed on the table, "Yeh kya tune khana nahin khaya! Sumo shaam ho gayi hai, tu... If you behave like this, you are going to end up... "
"Please Pushkar, mujhe na yeh pravachan nahin sunna, tu jo kehne aya hai, woh bol aur phir katle! "
He sighed, "What am I supposed to say Sumo, yahan tu aise, wahan bhaiya! Why are you doing this to him! Bhaiya ko pata nahin tha na, tujhe naraz hona hai to mumma papa se ho le! Bhaiya ka kya kasoor? "
"Really...really Pushkar! Matlab, main bass bhul jaun, ki mere maa papa ki maut tum logo ki wajah se hui hai! " I yelled,
"Hum logon ki wajah se! Pagal ho gayi hai tu! Woh driver drunk tha, humein kaise pata hota! Aur hum to yahan the, accident to delhi mein hua hai! Tu kyun bhul rahi hai! Delhi ki factory se assignment dispatch kiya gaya tha! "
"Thik hai, maan leti hoon! Fir, tum logone kuch kiya kyun nahin! Isse ek accident la naam deke, insurance claim kar liya, seriously Pushkar, like seriously insurance! " I nodded, trying not to cry in front of him.
"Insurance claim humne thodi kiya hai! Sumo. Tujhe to pata hai, har company mein disaster management team hota hai, khud ke lawyers hote hai, jo un logon ne sahi samjha kya! Tujhe pata hai woh insurance ki pure paise driver ki biwi ko diya gaya, tin tin chote bachche hai yaar, humari company se bhi diya gaya! Pati pi kar mar gaya, to usme un logon ka to koi kasoor nahin na! Please samajh tu! " he pleaded!
"Par Shravan mujhe bata bhi to sakta tha, usne kyun nahin bataya! Woh Aditya... "
"Kab batate? Unhe pata chala, usdin subah, aur raat ko to... " he paused, "Aur uske baad tu to chali gayi thi na... Tin mahine baad mili thi! Yaad hai na, fir kya kya hua tha! To kab batate tujhe bol.. " he scolded!
"Phir bhi... " I still couldn't accept it, I might had run out of logic but, still!
"Chod, tu nahin samjhegi, mujhe bass.. I just cannot see my brother like this, all broken! I have seen him once, like this! Not anymore! Ab to pehle se bhi buri halat hai! " he said in disgust!
"Buri matlab!!!"
"Tujhe kya karna hai jaan kar! Woh to kuch soch samajh k karte nahin hai, aise chalta raha to..." he got up, smiled, "Bhaiya ki kismat hi kharab hai!" he opened the door, and turned "Maine jo bhi kaha tu sochna zaroor! "
"Agar aap donon ki baatein khatam ho gayi ho to, main andar aaun?" Shravan standing at the door, his face was impassive!
"Bhaiya, aap aayie na..."
"Mujhe Sumo se baat karni Hai!" His voice was so cold, that Pushkar almost flinched!
"Sure sure main bass jaa hi raha tha..."
"Nahin to ruk!!!"
He looked at me with the same cold look, and sighed, "Sumo you are free to go now!!"
Wait what!!!
I kept looking at him with utter disbelief! Ohh, did I see a smirk!
"Yes, Sumo, you are free to go!!" He smiled.
Wait there must be more to it!! He looked at Pushkar, and he also looked really pleased! What were they hiding, what was I failing to see!
"So, should I start packing?"
"Yup!!" Shravan smiled at Pushkar, as if they were enjoying some inside joke. "Waise bhi half packing to ho hi gayi Hai! Ab baki ka bhi karlo!!!"
"What are you up to Shravan?? "
"Nothing, oh Haan...Jaane se pehele in papers pe sign karke jao!!" He handed me some court papers.
I read the papers, it said, that, I would not do any other work, as I was a employee of MnR company and as per the rules, I had a contract of 1 year!! But still, I violated the contract and I went on to work with Berry Industries, without any prior information! I had only worked 8 months, but still as a favor, the management of MnR company, had agreed to give my post back, and I had to complete my remaining, 4 months.
I gaped at Shravan, my mouth was almost touching floor!!!
Pushkar chuckled, "Bhaiya main chalta hoon!! You continue!!" He looked at me with an amusing smile, and rushed out of the room!!
"Tum aisa nahin kar sakte!!!" I whispered!
"Main aisa kar chuka hoon! " He said, nonchalantly!
"Shravan..."
"Aur agar tum nahin mani, to mujhe tumhare against action lena padega, to tum black listed ho jaogi aur tum zindegi bhar kahin aur kaam nahin kar paoge. So the choice is yours, honey!!" He tapped his stubbly chin with his finger!!
Though I was in middle of a crisis, and was very angry with him, still my heart thudded a bit louder in my ears, this man was going to be death of me!
"So if you have enough of ogling me, I would like you to join from tomorrow! And I hate people who are late!" He smiled.
Me being dumbfounded, didn't know what to say, "But what will be my post?" I asked, regretting immediately!
He regarded me with a long intense look, "Same as you left, nothing had changed, you will be my personal assistant!" He took steady and slow steps towards me, "Welcome to my world Mrs Malhotra!"
And my heart nearly exploded!
I didn't have much to think of! As per the papers, I could not work anywhere,and even if I leave the house, I needed to do something for living! So I got ready on time.
Shravan in office, was quite a veiw! Actually he was intimidating! Everyone around him was at their full alert! Sahi hai, pata nahin kab iska dimag ghum jaye! I suppressed my smile!
"Anything funny? "
"Nothing that concerns you, Sir!" I snapped.
" Everything related to you concerns me Mrs Malhotra!" He gave me a stern look!
We entered into his cabin! And I gasped! There was a 30x40 cms photograph of me, at one of his cabin's walls! It was black and white, me smiling, and it was beautiful!
"Beautiful isn't it?" He whispered!
I blushed, "Yeh yahan pe kyun hai!" Embarrassed I asked!
" Meri biwi ki photo hai, main jahan marzi lagwaun! Do you have any problem! If yes, I don't care though! Chalo, get to work" he walked around his desk!
Ohh this is so much fun writing! So how was it! ShraMan back to square one! But earlier Shravan was restricted because of the wheelchair, but now he is not! What will happen to Sumo!!
It took time to write, again sorry, for that! Hope you people will like it!
