The three faces of Suman Tiwari.

Ah the 3 facets of our female protagonist a very interesting way to put in totally loved it ..

Suman - the docile family oriented, responsible and buried under ehsaan,
Sumo - the fighter, owner of PCT, no ehsaan girl
Shravan ka sumo (SkS)- the dreamer, hidden , waiting patiently to tell the world ..

To understand her , one has to understand all 3 facets of her and see her as one whole person ..
as far shravan he always knew the fun bindaas Sumo . Only got a glimpse of Suman .. Now with all the misunderstandings and constant ranting of sr Malhotra began to see only the Sumo one who gets her way either by manipulation or by using her beauty... He is seeing what have already seeded in him , he is seeing the skewed version of sumo and an incomplete person .. getting to know suman would be step closer to knowing SkS

@A Hajnal makes a lovely point about how Shravan is not privy to the qualities you mention. In any analysis, one must never lose sight of what are the motivations of a character's behaviour...as seen from the character's perspective...not our own...becos what we have is a 360 degree view which is not available to the characters themselves...In this connection, i can't resist making one point, in the story, Sumo has a 180 degree view if not a 360 one...yet the story is stuck at a point...we know why she does not despite her view...

I am trying to put my thoughts in here, they are all jumbled up, so don't know of they make sense.
As you said, all three avatars constitute Sumo as a whole.
Shravan has seen them all. He also understands them...most of the time but they way he responds to them depends on his state of circumstances. He hasn't seen her develop them, the growth of her personality in all these years, that's why gets confused while encountering them. He doesn't know how to face them, he gets scared. He told Ramnath that she not what you think, he was hellbent on proving her worth but Sumo shut him out. He did reach out to her, thinking where he went wrong, but never received any proper explanation. Had she even once tried to explain her POV, he would have accepted her. He always did. But she shut him out, that made him think that she is shutting me out so that I don't influence her.'
He admires her for being a fighter, the stronger one. On face value, he masks it off to not appear vulnerable, but that strong, secure pillar is what makes him believe in her.
He loves the loving Suman. The one who would go to any lengths for her family. But has a problem when he doesn't find himself in her inclusion of family. The Preekar wedding drama, the middle class faade taunt is all that makes up as an excuse to blame her as he can't find the fault in her love for her family. And he wants to become like her. At preekar wedding, at their wedding, his attitude that 'if her family if important, so is mine.' But when he doesn't yield the result he hopes for, he gets frustrated.
He has seen glimpses of the one who loves him back. And whenever he has, he has been at his happiest. What he really craves is to be noticed and accepted by her. A pint of acknowledgement from her and he goes really high. The thank you, the promise of waiting for him -post the dal conversation, crediting him for saving Varun, the coffee conversation...they have just strengthened his hope that he is important to her. He will accept her with each ounce of his being when he comes to know that he is as much important to her as much she is to him. Because he knows Sumo like no other. The only thing that's making him label her is lack of acknowledgment on her part. When she stops ignoring him, he will again warm up to her. He has starting hoping again since his marriage. Just like she thinks that he loves her due to his own willingness to marry, he thinks the same. But he is confused right now due to his unmanaged expectations and the resultant lukewarm response on her part. Now her becoming a total Mrs Malhotra and being around him under the same roof will provide him an reassurance of the fact that she is not going anywhere, he will open up to all the faces of Sumo presented before him.

I don't think he ever got to see/observe her in these three avatars of hers as we have. He thinks of her as one, and that is why whenever he thinks he got her, she transforms into the other avatar of her and contradicts whatever he was sure about...😆

We have seen how much she sacrifices for her family. She even goes out of her way to give every and each one of them whatever there is. But has that aspect of hers was ever witnessed by him? No, it wasn't. He only got a glimpse of that avatar of hers during the Khosla case and he did melt, did he? His anger went missing as he saw her fighting for her home, for her family.

He himself craves for a family, always had, for so long and that side of hers made him attracted to her like nothing else could. He fell in love with her once again because of the warmth, the unconditional love and the protection she provided for her family. She had been his safe haven in the past, and after witnessing that side of hers, he knew he still could that in her...

Then the second avatar of hers if furious, independent, knows how to have what she wants and he does love that shade of hers, he always had. But now because of the kind of person he had become after the teen drama and mommy issues, he is wary. He loves it till he can understand the reason behind it. Till whatever is happening is within his control, till she is within his reach. Whenever she is 'Sumo' around him for others, he doesn't mind, but as soon as it starts mingling with their interaction, their relationship/friendship, he gets annoyed/irritated, even hates how out of control things become...

And then the 3rd avatar of hers is something he only got a glimpse of, as you said...But that became fake, a mirage and his own imagination the second she pushed him away, the sec she suddenly stopped being herself around him. Then he started to think 'ek khushfehmi thi... We can't really blame him for thinking she doesn't love him, he did hold on that belief for as long as he could...

And that is why the guy needs to be more around her, only then he will get to know all of her. Will get to know that there are 3 Suman Tiwari-s and not just one. 😆 One more reason why I am grateful for their marriage. If she is around him for 24/7, he will have time to know her, observe her and get to know her in all three avatars of hers. And she too will have time to know him and understand the difference between her Shravan and the Shravan Malhotra, and only then she will understand how deep are his trust and abandonment issues...And then, with time they both will become what they are destined to become...

And with that, one can only wonder, if he can love her for the small glimpse of her as Suman/Sumo/His Sumo, then how much he would worship her even he does get to see all of her...
