"Neelam! Can you tell me when the surgery of Mr.Sunil is scheduled?" I asked.
"Dr.Shravan it is scheduled in the evening. I will send you the details soon" Neelam informed me.
"Thanks Neelam" I smiled.
Uff. I need to get myself prepared. I have a Facial Spasm surgical procedure to perform today. I was going to the ward to check on the patients when an emergency patient was rushed into the hospital. A girl was running by the stretcher providing the patient oxygen with a BVP.
"Neelam!" She shouted taking me by surprise. However I composed myself and rushed towards the patient. Neelam also came by.
"Neelam! Contact the general surgery immediately there is a presumed rib fracture. Take him to the accident unit please and contact Anita Ma'am soon. He injured his spine." She was giving instructions with so much ease but I could also notice that she was panting.
The patient was soon taken to the ward. She sighed and looked at me surprised.
"Dr. Shravan please take care of this case. Dr.Anita is unavailable at the moment" Neelam said. I nodded.
"Ohh! Sorry Doctor! He needs to be checked immediately I suspect damage to cervical vertebral" She said panting.
"Relax!" I said calming her down. She nodded.
"Are you a doctor here?" I asked.
"Yes Doctor! I am third year M.S resident for Neurosurgery" She said.
"Oh great! Why don't you get changed and join me there" He said pointing her blood stained shirt.
"Yeah" She said awkwardly and left. I left to check the patient too.
The surgery was to be performed right away. She joined me in the surgery. I finished the procedure and she was quite helpful.
"Do you want to finish up?" I asked.
"Sure sir!" She proceeded to finish it while I stood beside her watching her do it. That is when I noticed her big eyes through the mask fully concentrating on her task. Somehow I felt they were too beautiful. She successfully finished up and we came out leaving the general surgeon to work on the Rib-fracture.
"Doc you were cool in the surgery" She said cheerfully.
"Thanks doctor?" I hummed not knowing her name.
"Oh I am Suman Tiwari" She smiled stretching her hand out.
"Hello Suman! I am Shravan" I took her hand for a hand shake.
"I have heard Sir. You joined here last month I presume" She smiled.
"Oh yes! And please you can call me shravan. By the way I haven't seen you here. I already met your batchmates I guess" I smiled.
"Sure Doctor. I was on a little break actually" She said.
"You were good in the surgery. Why don't you assist me in a facial spasm surgery today?" I asked her. I really don't know why. I was planning on taking geeta her batchmate initially.
"I would love to doctor. But I have a surgery to attend with Anita Ma'am" She said.
"Oh! That's fine! We will catch up later" I said.
"Sure doc!" She said and went on her way.
I stood there watching her leave.
It was my surgery time. I was proceeding towards the O.T when I bumped into her.
"Ahh!" She let out a baby squeal.
"Sorry!" I said finding her expression cute.
"Doc I am covering up for Geeta today. I will assist you. Please please do not get angry on her. It was urgent. She is really sorry that she could'nt inform you. Actually I told her that I will talk to you. Please don't get angry" She was blabbering with childish expressions.
Is she even a doctor?
"Suman. But this is not acceptable. She should have informed me" I said.
"Please chuck it. It was really important. I will buy you coffee. Do not scold her please" She said and I was just astonished.
"Listen Suman that's upto me to decide. You were already in two surgeries today." I said sternly.
"I will manage doctor" She said though I could see that she was super tired.
I reluctantly agreed. We finished the surgery and came back. She checked her phone and stood there gasping. She just ran outside. I shrugged and went to change. I was about to leave the hospital when I saw Suman arguing with a guy. Wait he seems familiar. Damn! He is Abhay. My brother's friend. What is he doing here? I was intrigued.
"Abhay! Why don't you get it. We are over! Move on now!" I heard Suman saying.
"Holy Crap! Suman was Abhay's ex? He was a total wreck after breaking up with her." I thought. Deciding not to probe in further, I quietly left.
