PART II- A MIDNIGHT DATE??
I decided not to eavesdrop the conversation between Abhay and Suman anymore. So I left the place. I was on the way to my house when I realised I left my phone back in the hospital. I decided I will go get my phone and drove back to the hospital. I went there to my cabin and checked it all over but I did'nt find it. Sighing I went.
"Hey Neelam I cant seem to find my phone. Can I make a call from here" I asked her.
"Doctor your phone is with suman. You have left it somewhere near the O.T apparently.
"Oh okay! Did suman leave already?" I asked neelam.
"No doctor. She is covering up for geeta. She has a night shift too. She must be in the room for residents. Please check." Neelam suggested.
"Thanks!" I told her and left in search of suman.
I found the room and gave a slight knock upon no response. I opened the door and went in awkwardly. And there I saw suman sitting cross legged on the chair asleep with her head rotating 360 and she didnt have any support for her head. I found that really funny. I was standing there watching her hilarious head rotation and in no time between those feats she smacked her head hard on the desk. She let out a squeak and I in a reflex reached her and caught her head and rubbed it with my palm. She got a bump.
"Doc?" She questioned in her groggy voice.
I left her head feeling a little awkward.
"I came here for my phone you have it right?" I asked her supressing my emerging laughter at her state.
"Huh. Yeah!" she said rubbing her forehead.
"Does it hurt?" I asked her.
"Yeah!" she said taking out my phone and handing it to me.
I found a first aid box and handed an ointment to her.
"Do you want some tea?" she asked.
"No I will leave. Thanks!" I said.
"Common doc 2 minutes?" she said holding my hand and making me sit on a chair and went ahead to make some tea. While I sat there I could'nt help but think about her head smack. I found it funny.
"You can laugh doc!" She said not even looking at me.
"Huhh" I was confused.
"I saw you supressing it. Go on laugh"she said suppressing her own laughter.
I tried to further suppress it but ended up laughing with her. She is one weirdo.
"Was it funny?" She asked handing me a cup.
"Very!" I laughed while she made a face.
We were slowly drinking while I heard her stomach grumble loudly.
"Uhh!" She grinned showing all her teeth. I smiled at her.
"Want to eat something out. I bet the cafe will be closed by now" I offered.
"Oh no doc! I am fine thanks" She said.
"I can see how well you are! Besides its too late for me to get back home, cook and eat I am hungry too" I insisted cheerfully.
"Give me a minute. I will change!" She said and left out waiting for her.
I cant help but smile at her cuteness.
"Doc! I am ready" She came back in her normal clothes.
I burst out laughing looking at what she was wearing. Goshh she is crazy. She wore a legging matched with long baby pink woollen tee with a big minnie mouse on it. Her outfit made me laugh a bit. I wondered if she was a teenager.
We settled in the car comfortably.
"What do you want to eat?" I asked her feeling all cheered up. Thanks to her energy.
"Anything! But mind you I will eat lots ok?" she said.
"Sure. Lets go to a dhaba nearby I heard its good" I said driving her off.
"Wohoo.." she squealed.
I cant believe I am taking her out. I mean this is so sudden. But she is cute. Very cute. Generally doctors tend to get boring. But she is a different piece altogether.
We went there. And she kept on eating and talking non-stop and managed to hook me with her talks. She was too impressed with the fellowship I recently finished in London. I felt like an achiever. She managed to make me feel good about myself. This woman is a mood-changer and easy to get along.I already feel all familiar.
"Doc. The food was yumm no?" She said rubbing her tummy.
"Told you!" I bragged a bit.
"Next time I will take you out for drinks! Okay?" she said.
"Done!" I smiled.
"Bye doc!" she said cheerfully getting out.
"Bye!" I said feeling all energized.
