I will actually be happy to see them marrying and dealing with their issues in propinquity on a day to day basis. Because the only way these two will resolve their issues is together...and marriage will grant them the freedom to be together without being afraid of societal strictures. This will give them an opportunity to be themselves rather than over thinking whether they'll become a miniature Ramnath and Nirmala.
And last but not least...bahut sara romantic moments milega. We'll get to see the transition from friendship to a typical married couple's relationship. And the icing on the cake is the jhatka Ramnath will get:)

I too have a feeling that this is where they are taking the track to. Also, in terms of being a forced marriage - it sure will be under forced circumstances but not a forced move from their individual pov - they know where they individually stand regarding each other - they will rather be confused, as to whether this was the right way for this to be taken forward and of course might (will) think that the other one has done a favor of sorts.
And you are right - this will actually be the best way for them to discover each other in their totality - particularly for Shravan. He knows the girl Sumo - he is yet to fully comprehend the woman - Suman and those knowledge gaps needs plugging in - before Ramnath's biased opinion fills them up. This is also the right stage, because Shravan is often shown to be conflicted (or confused) about his understanding of Suman - he just needs a push - and the push rather be in the right direction.
Suman also needs this wedding to come out of her ehsaan baggage - the way Tiwaris are shown to be, no one in that family actually gives two hoots about Suman's well being per se. This girl can grind herself to death for all they care.
As for foreshadowing: it has also been mentioned that preeti and Pushkar's life does not move without Suman and Shravan - so I guess some precondition will come up such that their wedding will be made conditional on Suman-Shravan's wedding
