Yes Puba, a mother allowing such husband to let him keep the son is weird. She was independent, brave enough to stand up to her husband's bullshit, so why not stick to her stand and at least explain things to her son before going.
And when children are this grown up, the court asks them about their preference of stay with parents.
How did she become that insecure about Shravan believing Ramnath's accusations of her infidelity?
Jo insaan itne ginhone ilzaam lagaa sakta hai, itni ghiri hui soch rakh sakta hai, uski sangat mein apne bete ko kyu rakhna?

Couldn't agree more...never in a million years would I ever want my child to be with a father who according to me is such a bad influence!!

She gave up so easily, as if he was not her son. She could have contacted him anytime. After he turned 18 years of age he wasn't liable to anyone. She could have put forth the facts and then let him decide and Ramnath out of guilt sent him to London thinking that if he would give Shravan all the best things in life it would make up for how he stole his mother's love from him and deceived him by telling lies.

@bold: exactly my point.

She could have easily fought the case and win.against ramnath.. He dont have any proof that she was having an affair with her boss but her one statement against him for physical violence.can make.her case stronger... If he threated.her with maligning her image she could also do the same considering at that point of time he was becoming successful.. It could have done alot of damage to ramnath than nirmala.. Shravan would have forgiven her if atleast onces in thses 10 yrs she tried to contact him.. He was more hurt by sumo and nirmala mainly coz both of them didnt even bother to atleast talk.to him once.. He didnt believe ramnath that easily when he said bad about his mother.. Nirmala could have easily made understand her pov.to shravan since he loved her more than ramnath...
For a.story it was necessary to keep nirmala away from shravan for 10 years but in real if any mother doea something like this proves that she.loves her.ego more than her.son..

I believe it's wrong from shravan side if truth of his father comes out to leave him ramnath is a good father and what happen btw ramnath and nirmala ...both are at fault all of a sudden cvs are showing ramnath as a villain is wrong ...it will be nirmala and ramnath who will be left alone not shravan be when a person get older ...at that time he and she need a companion more and I believe they both need each other ...I think it's not good from shravan just leave ramnath all of sudden .

I think what she did was not entirely wrong. Shravan seemed to be closer top his dad even in his teens. And R threatening to drag him into a psychological battle would have hurt him a lot more. Nite he has already one anchor viz his father. In custody relationship with both might have turned sour.
Above all Nirmala always seemed to measure happiness with money's worth. Give Shravan this or that but in the process both the parents missed giving shra their time and emotional support. So even more Nirmala measures rams childrearing skills by Shravan having studied abroad his professional success etc. only sumo looks beyond this with Shravan.

The money factor well noted.
But money is important when you have to manage both house and work and have mouths to feed. Her presence, albeit as a working mother, still would have sufficed. And Shravan's parents kept fighting all the time so custody battle wouldn't have been a surprise. It would have been mutual and Shravan would at least have to feeling that his mother did want him. But she backed off. So Shravan here is left harboring feelings of abandonment.

Yes, the fact that she did not look back even after initial few years is hurtful.

Even I believe that Shravan should not leave his father after knowing the truth. Sure, he'll be upset(don't know the extent yet) bit knowing the kind of person he is, he will never give up on his family, no matter what. Though Ramnath lied, Shravan will someday understand that it was due to his deep sense of insecurity, so he kept trying to hold the extended family together as he no more had anyone to support him and Shravan as a family.
The thing is, Shravan should be able to forgive Nirmala for what she did.
There's a need of serious introspection from the Mommy here.
