Chapter 13

Kids are playing on the ground. Suman looks at them from glass window & smiles. Krish is sitting on a bench sadly, not joining them. Suman notices him. Kriya runs & falls. She gets hurt & starts crying, calling out her dad's name. Suman, Krish & others rush to her. Pushkar takes her in arms & goes inside. Krish is crying silently. He looks at Suman.

-Flashback

Shravan got hurt in hand during exercising. Suman cries while doing his band aid. Kids stare at her with absolute disbelief. Dad got hurt but Mommy is crying. Shravan gives her tissue, she wipes her nose loudly in stead of eyes. He controls his laughter hardly. Suman notices kids & Shravan's giggles & gets angry.

Flashback ends-

Shravan has returned & tensed seeing Kriya got hurt. He goes near her,she's sleeping peacefully. He places kiss on his daughter's forehead. Suman is standing at the door. Shravan moves toward the door. Suman calls him from behind.

"Mr. Malhotra, don't be upset. She's fine."

Shravan looks on sadly. Suman continues.

"I must say you got a very sensible kids. Your son was beside his sister all the time. Poor kid cried so much", she says.

Shravan knocks at Pallavi's room's door. She permits him to enter.

"Shravan Malhotra? aap yaha?"
"Can I talk to you, mam?"
"Depend karta hai kis bare mein baat karna hai aapko. Have a seat"

Shravan sighs & sits.

"Jo baat mujhe karni hai usse definitely aapko toh khushi nehi hogi I'm sure"
"Accha? Oh by the way, how's your daughter? Sanchi said she got hurt in the morning?"
"Hmm. She's okay. Main thode din ke liye ghar se bahar gaya and this happened"

Shravan sighs. Pallavi looks on.

"Puchenge nehi main kaha gaya tha? I mean jaha tak mujhe pata hai, meri family ke har ek member ke piche apne apne spy rakkha hai jo humare har ek move pe nazar rakhta hai"

Pallavi laughs.

"Its not like that"
"Forget it. Lets come to the point. I went to Canada. University of Manitoba..you know?"

Pallavi's face turn pale.

"What happened,mam? Aap itne ghabra kyun gayi? Oh I guess you know what I'm talking about. I went to your daughter's Sanchi's university, from where she graduated"

Shravan stops & observes her face. She sighs & looks away.

"Sanchi Roy, one of the most dedicated & talented foreign students there. She got special reward from university authority in the final year, even a famous newspaper published an article on her that year. Isn't it that article, mam?"

Shravan takes out a paper cutting & shows to her. Sanchi's photo is published there. Pallavi stares at her daughter's photo & gets emotional.

"Don't tell me this famous renowned newspaper published wrong person's photographs. Kyun ke mere paas college se published hua ek book hai jis mein uss batch ke sare students ke photos hai, here's Sanchi. And she met with an accident almost 2 years ago & she died...", Shravan stops seeing Pallavi crying.

Pallavi cries. Suman knocks at the door & enters. She panics seeing Pallavi crying & rushes to her. She looks at Shravan, those paper cutting & gets everything.

"Mr. Malhotra don't cross your limits"

Shravan grabs her wrists softly & shakes them.

"Sumo!! Wake up! Why can't you understand..you're not Sanchi"
"Enough is enough Mr. Malhotra", she yells.

Suman goes near Pallavi.

"Maa chaliye yaha se", she takes Pallavi with her.

Krish was standing outside the door, Suman sees him. He looks down sadly. Shravan sighs & tries to control his tears. Krish comes & hugs him.

-Flashback

Shravan is busy with some files. Suman stands in front of him with a wide smile on face. He's not paying attention.

"Shravan,dekho naa?"
"hmm?"
"what hmm? Look at me. Am I changed?"
"Changed? Yes. After marriage you've become more crazy."
"Shut up lamboo. Kitne boring ho tum. Arey baba I got a new hair cut"
"oh its lovely!", he says without looking at her.

Now she gets angry.

"Bina dekhe tumhe pata chal gaya?"
"haan because tum har tarha se beautiful ho"

She smiles.

"Accha listen, there's something to tell you", she says with excitement.
"Seriously? Sumo! Wow! I can't believe. I"m so happy!", he says hugging her.
"what? Abhi toh main kuch kaha bhi nehi"
"main samajh gaya. You're pregnant, right?"
"shut up! Stop daydreaming", she punches him slightly.

She turns back & removes her hair strands from her neck.

"Oho! Sumo's Romantic mood is on
Okay I am always on", he says leaning towars her neck.
"oh God! Shravan! Buddhu!"

She removes more of her hair strands & he gets stunned to see his name inked on her neck. His name can't look more beautiful else than this.

"Sumo!!"
"Shhh. Its so beautiful!"
"Not more than you, my hubby dearest."

He kisses over her tattoo then her forehead & hugs her tightly.

Flashback ends-

Days turned into months. Many things happened in between. Ramnath met with an accident & got injured on leg. Now he moves via wheel chair.

At morning.

Vandy is busy in cooking, she goes upstairs for something & when she was about to go downstairs, Suman calls her from behind. She goes to her. Suman says tomorrow is durga puja, she wants her to manage all preparations. Payal enters as Suman is talking rudely to Vandy.

"Bhabi aap ne toh kaha tha, Suman bhabi is so polite, sabse pyaar se baat karti thi. Par ye sab..", Payal complains.
"Payal, ye Suman nehi hai. Ye Suman ho hi nehi sagti. Humari Suman aisi nehi hai", Vandy says sadly.

Suman looks on. Some noise is heared from downstairs. All of three go out & sees Leela falling from stairs. All rush to there.
Doctor comes & checks Leela. She got hurt on head. She stares at Suman's face with fear. Suman sighs.

At noon.
Leela goes to Ramnath to serve him food.

"Tumhari himmat kaise hui yaha aane ki. Ek kaam diya tha woh toh dhang se kar nehi payi"
"Maaf ki jiye sahab. Hum choti mem sahab dhakka dene ke liye khade the par achanak badi mem sahab ne humko bulaya aur hum niche jate wakhat gid gaye siri se"
"Kisi kaam ke nehi ho tum. Maine tumhe Shravan aur Suman ke ghar bheja tha kaam ke liye take tum Suman ko raste se hata sako aur mera beta mere paas wapis aa jaye par tum naa tab kuch kar payi na ab", Ramnath fumes.

-Flashback

Leela tried every possible way to harm Suman in one year but she always got saved either by Shravan or by Pushkar. Ramnath paid her for everything. Even she brought mechanic to fail Suman's car's break which resulted into that accident.

Flashback ends-

Pallavi enters. Leela gets scared seeing her. Pallavi signals her to leave.

"Ram, apne harkato se baz nehi aaoge kabhi? Meri beti ko nuksan pohchane ke bade mein socha bhi kaise?"

Ramnath looks on.

"I'm warning you, next time aisa kuch kiya toh anzam accha nehi hoga", she leaves.
The next day.

Malhotra mansion is beautifully decorated as its Durga puja. Pallavi asked everyone to get ready as per Bengali tradition, wearing Bengali outfits.

Suman has wore traditional Bengali saree of white & red combination. She is passing by Shravan's room while her saree gets stuck on somewhere in front of his room. He's struggling to wear dhoti. He looks at the door with disappointment, sees Suman, wearing beautiful saree, looking heavenly pretty.

-Flashback

Suman is getting ready for a party. She wore a black saree, with backless blouse with dark makeup. Shravan steps inside the room when she setting her hair in front of the mirror. He goes near her, hugging her from back, rubbing his beard against her soft skin. She feels ticklish.

"Shravan..we're getting late"
"So what?"

He unties her knots.

"You're impossible", she says.
"You're beautiful", he says.

Flashback ends-

Shravan stares at Suman. Krish comes to him with half open dhoti.

"Papa, I can't wear it", Krish says in a disappointed tone.
"same here beta", Shravan sighs with disappointment.

Suman overhears their conversation & laughs out loud. Pallavi comes hto her & asks what happened. She laughs & signals toward the dumbstruck dad-son dueo. Pallavi also laughs & gets into the room. She instructs Shravan how to wear dhoti. But Krish can't follow her instructions. So Suman comes forward to make him wear dhoti.

"Thanks choti maa", Shravan says.
Pallavi gets shocked. Shravan looks on.

Puja starts. Some of the guests dance with Dhunochi(A Bengali tradition). Suman also does so. Shravan stares at her. She was about to fall, he rushes to her but before he could hold her, someone else holds her hand tightly, saving her from falling.

"Neil!!", Pallavi calls out happily.

The new guy, Neil smiles & goes to her leaving Suman's hand. A little boy follows him. Shravan is confused. Pallavi introduces Neil to whole crowd. Neil comes to Shravan & Suman.

"Sanchi! How're you?", he asks.

Suman smiles a little. Shravan looks at him with much confusion.

"Oh hi! I'm Neil. Sanchi's fiance", he forwards his hand to Shravan to shake.
Shravan looks on with absolute disbelief.

Neil introduces the little boy, Yash, as Sanchi's adopted son whom she adopted when she was in Canada.

Shravan looks at Pallavi. She looks down.
Shravan knocks at Pallavi's room's door. She tells him to come in.

"Shravan, beta maine kaha tha na ke woh meri beti Sanchi hai. Tumhari wife nehi!"
"Really? Toh ye baat aap kabhi mere ankhow mein dekhke kyun nehi kehte, choti maa?"

Pallavi sighs sadly.

"Ghar ke nilami ke din jab maine aap dekha tab hi main aapko pehchan gayi thi. Aap maa ki best friend, Pallavi Roy ho naa? Meri choti maa?", he says sitting on his knees in front of her.

She caresses his face.

"Mera chotu sa Shravu kitna bada ho gaya hai! Aur lamba bhi!", she smiles.
"Bachpan mein jab cricket khelte waqt mera ball aapke ghar ke window se jake aapke ghar mein gidta tha, tab jab mujhe apna cricket ball chahiye hota tha main aise hi aapke samne bethke kaan pakad ke apna ball mangta tha. Aaj phirse kuch mangne jaa raha hoon. Mujhe meri Sumo lauta di jiye, choti maa!"

Pallavi makes him stand.

"Beta, aisi bohot si baatein hai jo abhi bhi nehi pataa tumhe. Maine tumhari Suman ko rokke nehi rakkha hai"

He looks on.

Kriya pulls Yash's hair angrily. Krish tries to stop her.

"Woh humari mumma hai. Sirf meri aur bhaiya ki tumhari nehi", she yells on Yash.
"No woh meri maa hai", Yash protests.

Shravan & Suman come there. Suman pulls Yash back & Shravan holds Kriya.

"Kids why are you fighting?"
"Mumma, dekho naa ye keh raha hai ke aap iski mumma ho. Humari nehi. Bolo naa aap humari mumma ho. Papa, bolo naa ke mumma aapki wifey hai", Kriya complains.

Suman & Shravan look at each other. She sighs & sits on her knees in front of Kriya holding her arms softly.

"Beta, main aapki mumma nehi hoon, aur aapke papa ki wife bhi nehi hoon", she says.
"No. Aap humari mumma ho", Kriya cries & leaves.

Krish & Shravan follow her. Suman looks on.

-Flashback

Shravan & Suman along with their kids are at his employee's wedding. Suman is with the bride. Shravan is staring at her. She is also noticing him & smiling. Kriya is with him while krish is roaming around.

A middle aged woman comes to Shravan.

"Hi!", she says.
"Hello!"
"Do you know the girl?", she asks pointing toward Suman.

Shravan thinks a moment.

"Yeah!", he says with a smile.
"Isn't she prtty?"
"Yes she is", he agrees admiring his beautiful wife's beauty.

He takes sip on his cold drink's glass.

"Darasal, baat ye hai ke main apne bete ke liye ladki dhoond rahi hoon. Mujhe woh bohot pasand ayi hai. Can you help me in this matter?", she says.

Shravan spilts his drink with extreme shock.

"What?"
"Yes. Aap ne kaha aap usse jante ho..toh.."

Shravan can't decide what to say. Suman comes there.

"Shravan, isn't Tia looking great in bridal wear?", she asks him holding his arm.
"Yes! Mummum", Kriya says.
"Mumma?", the lady is surprised.
"No. Mummum. She meant aunty. Humare yaha aunty ko mummum kehte hai.", Shravan says.
"Oh!", The lady takes a sigh of relief.

Suman, who's extremely confused with the whole conversation, looks at Shravan. Shravan winks at Kriya, she got her dad's mischief & giggles.

"And yes she's very much single", he says to the lady.

The lady caresses Suman's face.

"Bilkul aisi bahu chahiye thi mujhe humesha se"

Suman's eyes widen with her shocking statement. Shravan & Kriya giggle mischievously.

"Arey! What the..Shravan! Whats this! Tum kuch kehte kyun nehi!", Suman says angrily.
"Ab main kya bolu, aunty shagun kab leke jana hai aapke ghar?", he smirks.
"Beta thanks", the lady says to Shravan.
"Teekhi mishty! Kuch kehte kyun nehi?", Suman says to Kriya.
"Main kya kahu, aunty!"
"Whattt! Aunty?"

Shravan & Kriya try to control their laughter.

"Beti wait main tumhe apne bete ki photo dikhata hoon!"

Suman fumes, her eyes get teary almost. Shravan notices & gets serious. He goes near her & holds her by right arm.

"Sorry, aunty. Extremely sorry. But she's married!", he says.
"What? Why didn't you tell me before"
"You didn't ask! She's happily married aur woh apne pati aur baccho se bohot pyaar karti hai", he says looking into Suman's eyes. Suman is silently crying.

"Bacche? Tumhare bacche bhi hai beta?"
"Haan. Ye meri mummum hai. Mummum means mumma", Kriya says with a guilty smile.
"Aur meri ek bhai bhi hai. Krish...", Kriya calls out her brother's name while he was roaming around in search of his mom.

He comes near Kriya.

"Kitni baar kaha hai main tumse bada hoon. Mujhe bhaiya bola karo, Kriya", Krish says in a serious tone.
"Sorf 10 minutes ke bade ho tum!", she argues.

Shravan laughs. Krish comes near Suman.

"Mumma! Kaha thi aap? Main aapko kab se dhoond rahi thi!", he complains.

Suman holds Krish lovingly. Shravan signals the lady toward Suman & Krish. The lady laughs & apologises.

Suman goes outside, wiping her tears. Shravan follows her.

"Don't you dare to talk to me. Kya tha ye?"
"Prank! Bachpan mein jo tum khelti thi"
"That was pathetic Shravan. I can't imagine myself without you & kids", she gets emotional.
"You don't have to imagine", he says in a husky voice getting closer to her.
"You're disgusting"
"You're breathtaking", he says in a husky voice.

She tries hard to ignore his effects on her.

"Ek din dekhna main bhi aisi prank khelungi. Tumhe pehchanne se inkar kar dungi. Phir dekhti hoon kya karte ho tum"

Flashback ends-

Suman was passing by the corridor, someone pulls her toward a corner.

"Kya? What's your problem, Sumo? Kitne din aur kitne din ye sab chalega?"
"Mr. Malhotra not again! I told you I'm not Suman"
"Accha? Then tumhe kaise pataa ke Krish aur Kriya ko meethe mein kya pasand hai? Tumhe kaise pataa ke Krish ko peanut se allergy hai? Tumne nehi bataya Leela ko?"
"Main aapke sawale ko jawab dena zaroori nehi samajhti", she tries to free herself.
Shravan turns her back, removes her hair strands from her neck. "Shravan" - still inked there.

Suman couldn't protest his touches, as he always had the same effect on on.

"Mujhe mera jawab mil gaya", he whispers against her ears.

She turns back & looks on.
