Suman has her share of behavioral problems. Her self-respect now, and her image consciousness in the past were her defense mechanisms just like Shravan's hurting in silence without revealing his true feelings or opinion until things reach a bursting point or escapism are his defense mechanism.

I definitely sympathize and connect more with Shravan as a character, but at the same time I am willing to cut Sumo's character more slack than you. ASR was definitely rude. Sumo though flawed does not act as despicably as he acted at times. Her rejection of Shravan when he came to her in their school days was a knee-jerk reaction to the comments of her good for nothing bully-gang.

Provided both Shravan and Suman can work out something by communicating properly where she does not touch his raw nerves or places where he gets hurt and he does not enter into those zones she terms as her self-respect, they could have a very good relationship.

A relationship at the end of the day is not a balance sheet or a profit and loss statement but something you'd like to be in despite the respective failings of both the individual partners than be without. Shravan was never able to move on or lead a happy and fulfilled life putting his past with Suman behind him. Even after ten long years, he finds himself stuck in the same rut.

Suman still acts immaturely when it comes to Shravan. But all the same we cannot say that she is completely undeserving or unlikable as a person. If at the end of the day, both Shravan and Suman think that they are really Ek Duje ke Vasthe despite everything, I don't see why any of us should have a problem. Two perfect people might not make a good relationship while two imperfect people(one who is more perfect and another who is more imperfect) could make a great relationship by complementing each other.

Absolutely loved that u pointed this out ... brilliant really ... have read a ton of posts on the forum but none which pointed out this point ... ESCAPISM ... the crux of their problem will stem from THIS FACT ... he did not wait he RAN

I just have a contrary POV on this ... yea of course it was knee jerk reaction ... but coming from a neutral stand point .. to be fair to SUMO .. she pointed out from day 1 to Shravan & then subsequently repeatedly .. that she did not want to acknowledge their friend at school .. & he shud never approach her there ... knowing this Shravan accepted her friendship ...

This is a love story ... IMHO both the characters wud b at fault some place or the other .. otherwise the story cannot progress

Lovely ... completely agree & concur ...

another thing i noticed when shravan told her she is selfish and baddimag. she just went away with giving him a unpredictable look.
tum kya se kya ban gaye ho
tum kya ho aur main kya hoon
this 2 dialouges defo has big meaning. which ll be revealed soon
m sure she would have went home and thought about what she did earlier. she had all those flashbacks. but before she could go deep into the matter. mami came up with all burdens and bad luck for her then things followed with shravan giving the money
and when she ran again behind his car called him. he didnot turn back
just like 10years ago
this also gives a clear picture. shravan didnot give suman a chance to explain
at that tender age what shravan did is justified. but i say trust me there is more to it.
what we see is necessarily not what it is.
suman has a side which is yet not revealed

I will give my simple answer why you are confused or not able to connect with Suman and her character.

1. We have seen most of the flashbacks from the perspective of Shravan, how he sees her and his interactions with her. We saw just one or two from her point of view. Even there it was more of nostalgia and having lost something precious. In those she definitely reminisces his care and affection.
2. It would help us understand her character better if we saw how she was with her parents. What was the kind of life she led then and what was her life after their demise. Some childhood scenes of Sumo will help us know why she became the bullying, insensitive and at times crass loud mouth she became at school.
3. The very fact the Shravan has never been able to move on or forget her must be because they must have some very beautiful and special moments and time together apart from those times she hurt him or disappointed him.
4. Sharavan, Sumo and Pushkar were childhood friends. So if we can have a third person perspective about these two like Pushkar thinking about their good old days together, it will add to the story.
5. We all are very ready to jump to the defence of Shravan. This includes me as well. But there could also have been times when he might have been too demanding in his friendship with her. She was the centre of his world. But though he was a good friend, her life and circle did not revolve round him. Was there a hint of possesiveness in the way he regarded her?

I think he genuinely believes that he is responsible for the aftermath of the party. Her grouse is shoving money after making her a stranger in front of the crowd. As a friend ,she might have rejected but he literally shoved the money, albeit with good intentions...

Shravan and Sumo please say Sorry to each other genuinely na!

n anyone or watever reason gave me money without taking permission i would have been furious n break his head most probably...😆

I am not speculating dear. Shravan clearly told Suman Jo nahin chahta tha woh bi ho gaya. He regretted the problems that he created for Suman & his family by his actions. Also even i support Suman for repaying the money, after all he did call her a gold digger. Aft that no self respecting girl w'd like to take money from him.

What me & others are talking about is the lack of inner monologue or self introspection by Suman. This is where CVs are at fault. While we see & understand the inner turmoil of Shravan, Suman is a black box to us viewers. Hence i said that the CVs need to work on her characterization.

Very Interesting topic.. What interests me about Suman's character is her blow hot, blow cold attitude...exactly like you mentioned... When Shravan was going on pestering her asking if she would come to party, she felt his affection and was attracted to it, which is the 'hot' phase. And before she could reciprocate the feeling...be it friendship or plain attraction, Shravan came up with his revenge plan and she was left all alone feeling cold, which is the 'cold' phase... This hot/cold attitude of hers is a natural reaction that any person may through...I find this very normal n human..

When some one gives you a cold-shoulder, cuts you out completely or if there's lack of communication, it effects you and your confidence..she's confused by it. She's unsure. When she takes a step to rectify her mistake, he makes her feel like it was long forgotten & he's moved on. So at that instant she reciprocates the way pertaining to the situation...which any person does bcoz it's normal...this makes Suman look real. I know what she did ten years back was her stupidity but give her chance to explain to rectify things... Am not siding Suman or Shravan here..they are behaving exactly the way they want which they feel is RIGHT..

Also so far we have seen only Shravans side of the story and not much of Suman's past., so guess we gotta wait & see how they're gonna shape her character..her character so far is 100 times better than most of the other female leads...
