Bucks is absolutely right! it really does feel as if i've picked up a novel showcasing angst, memoriams of first love, the guilt & regret of not even giving each other the chance to explain their side, their new equation & the underlying love & care which they still have for each other... deep down these two are still the same Suman-Shravan they knew about once & loved...

continue karo yaara... aur wait nahi hota!!

Covid effect.

I had so many plans after my NEET.

Shopping, going out with friends, travelling.... all dusted into nothing.

So now I am scratching my head with stories and novels and movies.

Anyway,trying to keep myself sane.

But I am kinda introvert so it helps as well.

What a nice story Nancy! I‘m loving it. You write so good!👏 I really want something like this in the show.

Continue soon. I am so curious about Shravan's view on her apology

Faded-5

It's not the goodbyes that hurt, but the memories that haunt.

Shravan walked across the vast expanse of the garden, late at night. He could see the moon burning his senses. He wanted to scream and shout, he wanted to run away or maybe explode. Whatsoever he does, to show that its all fine and it doesn't matter- it all zeros down to one single question-WHY?

He decided that he would work on a few files. His job, his work, his focus had always killed his loneliness but not tonight. The words and numbers printed on the parchment felt like they were vanishing into nothingness. His brain had put up a block and won't let him think. It ran a marquee in his subconscious- the crying face of Suman Tiwari. He could close his eyes and picture her movements, her hands folded and shivering in an apology. His heart crumbled, but still, he couldn't accept her guilt. He just couldn't take the memory of his dead father, clad in white cloth, lying lifeless on his feet. That day it felt that the earth may snatch its grounds beneath his feet, that dirty people like him shouldn't touch anything.

He let down his father, he went away. He made Suman fall in love with him, she lost her family. He made them do all the wrong things because he thought it was love and no matter what his girl would stand by his side- again he was so, so wrong. He expected her to be his angel, the one who shall take him in his arms no matter what- but he was so, so wrong. The only thing he could do now was to do all the right things. He won't love anyone, he won't touch anyone- because if he did, he will ruin them.

Suman Tiwari has the right to be happy. He won't give her another chance to destroy herself.

-----------------------

Early in the morning, Suman had her spirits high. She was happy to be back in her uniform, moving through the normal rhythms of the day like a routine. Although it looked similar to what she did every day, her resolve was different. She won't let this chance go away from her hand. She was carrying a tiffin, she rarely did. She had taken the effort to cook beans, Rajma, and of course sweet porridge - all to Shravan's liking. She had cooked for him just once earlier, that too something he had an allergy from. She didn't really know what would be his reaction, so she decided to play it safe.

The tiffin distributor, stood scratching his head. 'You want me to give this to Major Shravan.' Suman nodded her head in positive. 'Without him knowing that it's you?' He further asked and again Suman replied similarly. 'What if he catches a change in taste? What am I going to do of the tiffin, I bring for him?' He had a series of questions, honestly, he was a bit scared of Major Shravan Malhotra. He felt the man gave extreme cold vibes and it won't be too good to mess with him. 'Not to mention his strict personality.' he gulped harder.
Suman laughed a bit and assured him that she would take Shravan's tiffin instead. 'If he asks that the food seems different, then say that there was a change in cook. Someone new has come.' At this, the man nodded his head, satisfied. 'Listen!' Suman requested him again 'ask him about the feedback once you collect it back from him, you know right- reviews and suggestions help in improvisation.' Suman found herself smiling silly as she spoke. The tiffin-man held his gaze and rolled his head 'I hope he listens to what you want to say.' Suman was baffled for a moment, was she so transparent? 'What are you saying?' She asked. 'Nothing Captain Tiwari. It's just that food, has enormous powers, the one who makes it with love actually presents a part of her soul to the receiver. beautiful isn't it? One can't remain unhappy for a long time after eating the food made out of love.' With this, the man went away on his business leaving Suman behind, who prayed that whatever he said comes true.

------------------------

Shravan stared at his tiffin. It was different. Something wasn't fine. 'Hey!' he stopped the distributor in his tracks. 'Yes sir!' The tiffin-man found himself rooted on the spot. He anticipated a series of questions coming to him like a missile, but instead, he heard something else. 'Send in Major Bassi. He may be outside somewhere. Thanks.' Shravan mouthed, unhindered by his work. The tiffin man sighed in relief. As a free soul, he waved through the corridors, looking for Major Bassi. Finding him he told what he was supposed to.

'Hey Mate! Up for lunch.' Bassi was already at Shravan's door when Shravan waved in for him to enter.
'You know how boring it is to do any desk job! I miss the field' Shravan stretched his hands onto his head.
'No doubt it is. But it's just two days from the last time you literally fired the shit out of a terrorist nexus.' Bassi was already taking his food out. 'New Tiffin.' he teased.
'Stop being a teenager Bassi! Anyways, I find it odd as well. But look at me, I just forgot to ask the guy.' Shravan admitted the confusion.
'Oh just sod off! That tiffin guy? He hasn't changed anybody's tiffin for ages. plus, I thought somebody else gave it to you. Anyways, let's eat.'

As Shravan opened up the content of his tiffin, he was heavenly surprised to see each dish to his liking. Not merely liking, but his favorite. He passed smiles while tasting each of it, finally having a good time after days together. He pushed back the confusion, thinking himself to be some lucky man. Once the guy came to collect back the tiffin, he didn't deter from giving a detailed appreciation of each dish. What he found odd was that the tiffin-man was equally interested in knowing his views.

-------------------

It has been 10 days to that incident since he saw Suman crying her guts out. 10 days, of Suman Tiwari fulfilling his orders with extra cheerfulness. She would do his work first and then breathe. Not that before the incident she was any less obedient, but still, there was a notable difference. He was in the shooting room, practicing gunshots on the target. His earplugs were on, as he shot 5 times in a row, missing the target. Something felt so wrong as if he wasn't getting what was going different with him. He felt his facade falling when Suman was taking coffee with him coincidentally at the same time for 4 days straight. There was something wrong when he was getting his favorite dishes in a row, every afternoon. There was something wrong when the tiffin-man literally jotted down his appreciation in a note pad.

He felt a commotion in the other section of the shooting room. He saw Suman stand beside him without any earplugs, shoot her target precisely as if it was some silly game in the park. He gave her deed a smile, feeling exhilarated at her good performance. But then he noticed something. There were burn marks on her stretched arms. Her wrist was burned, her finger was cut slightly with a knife. No, they weren't the bruises, he had seen back in the hospital. They were new, something- something she might get in the kitchen.

Shravan's mind snapped. He was a good observer, he really was. Suman rarely carried lunch from home. And then all the pieces fell so much in place. Her cut fingers and burnt skin and his favorite dishes with changing taste.

Suman Tiwari has been sending him food and he has been eating it unknown.

Lovely isn't it how people defy their own barriers.

From 'I don't want to see your face ever' to 'I would like to make food for you.'
Shravan chuckled a hysterical one. He needed answers.
