I dont know whether to laugh or cry..romantic background music as the ML is throwing around the female lead, grabbing her and abusing her?? Where is the romance???? I see only rape and assault!

These things not just happens in ITV. In thai lakorns there is a genre / term.. Slap-kiss drama.. Where the ML will be so abusive, kiss FL without consent, rape her but still the girl will end up falling for him and people still keep watching it.

I seriously hope we don't get to see such things here with Jabir.. Pooja is not someone who is spineless and cries every time and neither is kabir someone who uses force to put forth his point.

ok. Glad that someone pointed out the Thai Lakorns. yes.. they are disturbing and they also have a genre which you call Slap-kiss and that's what they are selling. Atleast now its little better. Few years back most were slap kiss and I guess now they started to tone down them a little bit.. the sad part in the lakorns is the girl starts falling for the ML right after he *owns* her and that relation ship they start to call it as husband-wife and its very disturbing to hear.. they are not shown any sort of remorse towards the abuse they do to the FL and are never prosecuted by the courts

I had started watching chinese korean thai dramas after I got bored with the same type of shows in ITV.. With those annoying bg music.. And overacting and dramatic scenes.

There are good thai lakorns too but these types are the hot topic ones. What to say!!

Yes... When compare to that, I am glad that ITV still didn't stoop that low.. you can create tashan and show two opposite personalities at logger heads even thought you don't include manhandling between the characters… I am not a director but still its just my observation

This is why I loved the ending of the previous episode..when Pooja says "tum mardon ko toh yehi aata hai, apne taaqat se jeetna...aise me toh tumhaare saath ladke kuch mazaa bhi nahi aata hai" (something along those lines).

Before I comment in relation to the topic of the forum I would like to state some cold facts here-

1-In the ITV more than the bad guys its the vamps who rule the roost & perhaps would do so for the forseeable future. The vamps have been legendary like Komolika,Ramola,Yamini.Sakshi or perhaps Maya(a grey shader) perhaps & the current Tara of Ishq Mein Marjawaan.

2-Guys or ML are usually bratty or grey type billionaires whose heart gets healed with the passing time through the arrival of their beloved FL.

Does Bollywood or even the ITV need to provide a level playing field or stop portraying the FL'S as abla-naari? Yup this needs to be done & shows like EBSS are a step in the right direction with the grey shader Jhanvi/Pooja Sharma. Even Bollywood had its own share of women oriented films like Stree/Kahaani 1 & 2/Badla etc.

Misogyny seems to be present not only in ITV but in the real world too.Unfortunately as per the standard stereotype girls tend to get attracted to the uber cool bad guys sometimes resulting in abusive relationships. In ITV the bad guys might change while in the real world no possibility unless he goes through a reparcation or develops his own conscience.

So yeah Misogyny with being a male dominance do exist but females have started to match the steps too. There have been cases of bad side of the females too though on a rare basis. So both sides have pros & cons but the male side has got the more bad side than the female one bcoz of being a male-dominated society perhaps.

Change will come gradually & its happening with the advent of social media & technology in both rural & urban areas. Our education system needs a revamp along with the culture sensitivity too.Only then perhaps misogynistic attitudes might take a backseat.

Ananya🤗

Great Post!👍🏼

I have two very different and strong opinions on this and I am going to keep it as short and impersonal as possible because I have personally what a progressive family can do for women. And education simply does not translate into enlightenment.

First:

TV is a closer reflection of society that movies in India. There is a reason this weird supernatural shows work. If women do not start standing for other women there is nothing we can change. A mother has to call out her son when he is wrong rather than saying her daughter in law to adjust. We at times do not support each other enough. And this is coming from an only child of a single mother. We also have to learn that first we have to be willing to fight. Do not defend a man/boy because he is your child or husband or father. Call them out and believe in there are people who will support you. That is why loved when Pooja gave it back to Kabir like a boss when he twisted her arm. She nipped it in the bud and you could see that it hit a cord with Kabir. I strongly believe that Empowered Women empower women.

Second:

I am very strong believer of the fact that “ Strong Men raise Strong Women,”My Mama Ji’s are a great example for that. They stood by my mother when my father and his family said they do not want a female child was born. My uncles stood up said not caring about society and said,”Fine our sister and niece do not need you, we have raised our sister till now and will continue to do so. Our sister is educated and she totally capable of taking care of herself and her child.” I can not tell you how much love and care I raised with between my uncles, aunts and their kids. I do not hate men because my uncles and cousins have showed me what real men are.

Only a very secure strong man can give a woman equal right and it is upto a woman to raise that man.
