Hey guys,
I don't really have time to write a full analysis of the episode but one thing that I loved so so so much about last night's episode was that dialogue: "Ami ashbo" meaning I will come in Bengali. I'm a Bangladeshi Australian who speaks Bangla at home so you can only imagine how shocked and amazed I was when MJ said that! Usually Indians struggle to speak Bengali but Viraf sounded like a Bengali 😊 If only he was Bengali haha 😆
Why would MJ just randomly say "I will come" in another language when he could've expressed it in Hindi? I think it was a very subtle way of showing another side to MJ's character. We know that he's very artistic and poetic but now we see that he's also very cultured. Not only that, this dialogue also demonstrated how Tara's love and possibly this new look has made him more optimistic and hopeful for the future. He wants to come back and take her with him, something he wouldn't have thought of if things hadn't improved for him.
Perhaps I'm looking too deeply into this one piece of dialogue but I liked how wonderfully meshed in it was with the whole situation. It goes to show that dialogues in a show can make a huge difference in whether a show is one dimensional or multi-layered like EBI. Kudos to the dialogue writers for always having so much depth and profoundness in what the character's say.
Ami abar ashbo (I will come back again),
Shegufta xx

It is not unique to Bengalis alone. Even Tamilians say 'Poittu varein' which means the same i.e., jaake aate hain. The emphasis is always on returning. I guess other regional languages also have their equivalent.
