"Do ends really justify means?" her conscience pricked her and kept on reminding her that she was in the wrong.
"She was cast in this role, and she had to live up to it, there is no other way around it. Sacrifice one or sacrifice the other. The choice was easy. Blood is thicker than water, or so the saying goes, so she just acted true to type.
Then came the slap to Adi that was delivered in style, that gave sakoon to her self respect. But then, she had to tell herself that she could not allow for delicate sentiments to sidetrack her from her purpose.
So, she reverted true to type. But then, came the dhamaka of the attack on Jayraj ji and Mrityunjay taking the bullet for him. That sort of shocked her out of her wits.
She wanted to make amends in some way, though not go all the way to get MJ acquited off the crimes of passion of Adi for which he is the fall guy. And then came the gun in Tara's bag and MJ claiming that the gun was his.
Rudra bhai saab keeps reminding her that she ought to be a Kaikeyi in Ramayan, and he keeps reminding her of all that he has done for her and of repaying him for his kindness by acting against Mrityunjay."
What was she to do? How was she supposed to be the witch in the tale? She is not even the black widow, (though someone did plan to make her one), so, how was she supposed to execute the plan that Rudra bhai saab set for her.
"Mrityunjay can never love Tara, his one and only love was Radha"
Her statement to Meethi, did not ring true to her very own ears. Nirmala thought to herself, what a drama queen I am! Who am I trying to con? Myself?!
She walked out of Adi's room with a guilty conscience, but also assertive that she would take this charade to it's final culmination.
Lo, behold! She found MJ enter with Tara and wonder of wonders, R*A*D*H*A.
Radha was alive?! Oh my god!
She looked askance as MJ entered the hall with his paltan! Her feet went cold and she was nervous like on a nine-inch stilleto. She looked hither and tither while Adi who was right behind her came to a sudden halt.
Her son the playboy had faced his worst nemesis right before her eyes, would he survive? She was shaken to the core, "what next?"
Mrityunjay looked up to find his mother and Adi staring at his party, "Maa, Radha zinda hai ma."
Radha looked up to find Nirmala and her gaze alighted on Adi and a shreik spun out of her vertebrae, "Adiii."
She fainted there and then!
MJ rushed her up to his room by carrying her and placed her on the bed, o so gently, while Tara hovered around in the vicinity setting the pillows right and pouring out a glass of cold water and putting a wet cloth to Radha's face.
The AC was on and slowly Radha woke up from her shocked slumber. She looked around the room and said, "our old room., I am back home again."
MJ rubbed her palms to warm her blood while Tara rushed down to the kitchen to get some refreshments for Radha.
She made her especial namkeen chai for MJ and her and brought a tin of sardines and some haldi wala dhoodh for Radha.
She hesitated while entering the room, as she could see from the doorway that MJ was comforting a teary Radha with soothing words and caresses.
On finding her at the entrance, MJ straigtened up and told Radha, "Radha, please meet my precious wife, without whose belief I would never have ventured out to find you,"
Radha's face lit up with a sudden realization as she looked from one to the other, "aap aur shaadi? Aap kab shaadi kar liye?"
MJ answered while staring at Tara with emotion, "it's a long story, but believe me when I say, "she was the best thing to ever happen to me after your disappearance."
Radha turned pensive while her eyes closed in pain and longingly uttered, "you have taken my place in his life, Tara."
MJ was about to speak, before Tara intervened, "no one can take anyone's place Radha, you were and are always special to him."
Radha opened her eyes and looked at this woman who was so generous and sweet.
Tara continued, "even though I am in his life, everything about you is fresh in his memory and it's like you were never away, either in his life or in his heart. No one can take your place, jo tumhari thi, woh tumhari hi hai."
She surrepetiously wiped a tear from her eyes before she smiled at them and served them tea and sardines.
MJ could sense something was deeply upsetting and hurting Tara but he could not get himself to continue to cultivate that thought nor could he afford to get sidetracked by that thought, he was confident HIS TARA would understand him and that she would let him make amends, and he would too, in the near future, that's a promise he made to himself. But before that he had things to do... and miles to go...things to set right! He cannot play at being a sacrifical lamb anymore, he has to get to the bottom of this and see that his loved ones are safe and secure. Enough of this escapist fatalistic nonsense! It's time to go, and meet his mom. He had a date to keep!
