Tara bewildered in shock, puzzlement and sadness realized she had a hard task ahead.
Fine! If that is what he will do, fine! Two can play at this game. Let me do "eent ka jawaab pattar se" so she yells out in equal measure, "fine, if u r on maunvrat; I will be on bookh hartal until u accept me as ur patni and tell me the truth. I shall not touch water, or food."
MJ was dumbfounded at the audacity of his 5foot-no inches pocket rocket (someone said this in IF, all kudos to them) of a wife. What the hell was he supposed to do, how was he supposed to stand up to this challenge?
Fine, if she thinks that she can browbeat me into answering her questions with this dhamki, let her suffer, I care a damn!
She cooked food for him, washed his clothes, ironed his shirts. But did not drink even a drop of water. MJ too did not drink a drop of water, not a morsel of food did they both eat.
They slept on an empty stomach.
MJ knew Tara could not bear hunger and that she would become weak as she was just then recuperating from the dose of fever that refused to leave. What if she fell sick again?
But what to do with this gal?
He woke up next morning. She was nowhere to be seen. He searched everywhere. Where the hell was she? Yeh ladki bhi na...
He and Mariah set off in hot pursuit. Could not find her anywhere. He was worried and his heartrate increased with fear that something has happened to her. Oh, why did he have to utter those disgusting words in anger? Why did he have to tell her to "die and not bother him or nag him anymore." Oh, why! Hope she did not take his words to heart and do something untoward. His mind and heart was filled with desolate thoughts while he rushed home to the mansion to inquire about Tara.
While he was stepping in through the corridor, he found the car pick up and leave from the gate and he found a piece of red in the backseat. Was that Tara in her red saree?
He rushed behind the car. She was animatedly talking to baba. Baba was smiling at her and asking her something and she was smiling at him. His vehicle almost reached their car alongside, when he found something pass by his dad's car. What the hell was that?
Next minute, he heard a tinkle of glass breaking. Holy God! Nooo, not her! Not baba! He turned his head and saw that both Tara and Baba were not to be seen in the backseat.
He smashed through speed barriers and screeched his car to a halt right alongside the stopped car of baba.
He rushed to the backseat and almost snatched the door off it's hinges. He found both Tara and Baba sprawled on the backseat, each holding the other's head. He found both of them bloodied. He screamed "Tara" "Baba" and checked for their vital signs. Both of them were alive. He pulled them out of the car and felt for the wound that was spurting blood. Tara came into consciousness, baba too. He found Tara's hand grazen with a wound. The hand that protected his baba. He found her bloodied hand and hugged her tight as he tied the red bandana around the bloodied wound to stop the blood from flowing out.
Baba and he rushed her to the hospital and had the wound bandaged. She was put on IV as she was weak. MJ walked into the hospital room and touched her other hand and made a promise to himself to never ever hurt her again as he hurt a 1000 times more whenever she was hurt.
She opened her eyes and squinted at him and in a low voice uttered, "aapne apna maun vrat todha."
He glared at her with love and mock anger and fed her an orange piece and said, "haan, mere patni ji."
