This is my first post on this forum, dedicated to the best episode of MMZ yet, in terms of performances. The acting was SO powerful that it made me ignore obvious plot lapses and embrace it in all its cheesiness.
Heroes of the episode:
1. Sam- My God, can this girl act or what? My heart broke for her once on Saturday, but she just tore it asunder today. Her pain spoke to me- the pain of a daughter who yearns for just one word of affection from her mother. Just killed me. 🥺How can a human being survive with so much pain inside them?
2. Neil- Okay, this guy made my heart beat for NeSam. What a friend and what an anchor for Samaira he is. I'm seriously confused about whether I liked the bathroom scene more or the terrace scene. The way Neil gathered Samaira in his arms as she cried told the story of a bond forged in fire and made of iron. The way he hugged her and cleaned her up when she was at her worst was commendable. My favourite moment was when he blew her nose, and how it made Sam smile. He has the power to make her smile when she is about to die an internal death.😲
3. Radhika- Frankly speaking, the plan was silly and would never work in the real world, but her concern for Sam and how she stuck to her guns deserves praise. Her presentation made me cry and her dialogues were written well. Instead of making me cringe, it made me sob. 👍🏼
4. The terrace scene- Undoubtedly, the most powerful scene of the episode- a mother and daughter reuniting after years of hatred had torn them apart. Piyali sucks, but I liked this scene for Sam. I don't think Piyali can ever make amends for what she put Sam through, but just once, I let the pathos of the scene get to me- a mother and daughter mourning a son and a brother. Piyali is clearly obsessed with Jai and looks like she loved him more than Sam, which is sad.
I was finally happy for Sam who got to hug the mother she had wanted to hug for years. Jai was taken from Piyali forcibly, butPiyali pushed her daughter away voluntarily. IMO, there needed to be more buildup to this realisation.
In short, the powerhouse performances of all the characters made the episode what it was. Despite a shoddy story, the actors made it work, at least for me.
