Nice topic!
im too lazy to read all the replies so ill just give my point of view.

Throughout history, it has always been depicted that the maiden is the one to be saved by the Prince charming of her life. This has been and still is the stereotype of all stories. Though girls may be well equipped to take on the role of prince charming, the story sells more and the scene looks more magical when it is the damsel who is in distress and the prince charming comes to her rescue. It looks valiant.
But this does not mean that girls cannot be the heroes. In life, if you look closely, there are many female heroes who have saved their prince charming. But as stated above, the stereotype is the boy saving the girl in distress. This gains people's sympathy more than if the roles were switched.

ummmm, ok now im just lost for words.. Sha, you have a nack for making hard topics!😆 Uff, how i had to think of what to write! Dont know if it even makes sense... oh well...

😆 .... you're starting to sound like my dad yaar ...... he's always telling me to stop my commentary and enjoy whatever show i'm watching ....... lekin control nahin hota yaar😆 .... analysis dene ki adat lag gayi hai .... seedi story ko seedi nahin rehna de sakthi ..... chaye mujhe kahin se hercules ko bhi iss sab me shamil karna pade .... lekin analysis to hoga hi hoga 😉😆

NOO what ur saying yaar i dont wanna sound like ur dad 😆

i think we have the same "sickness"....i cannot stop analyzing....i do it all the time..i drive my parents nuts.....my sisters are hiding from me....because they still watch KS and if i catch them i start analyzing and explaining why they should stop watching.......my mom says: toke seedha poonchi achha na lage hai ka (why do you always try to find something behind it 😆)

exactly be it hercules, greec myths, hanuman ji, ekta ji, biology, Darwin, sociology......kuchh bhi ho...discussion to ho na hi hai 😛😆

well i only watched the beginning and ending (read some updates in between) - watched the beginning cause of (a)anju producing; (b)story revolving around a rajasthani family - my parents are from jodhpur, rajasthan, .... okay sorry won't continue this ..... back to the topic😆 .....

are nooo yaar.....jab bhi Kulvaddhu ka naam ho...ya phir anuj ji ka naam ho....discussion jaadi rakhne ka.....i luved kulvaddhu and i luv anuj.😛

agree with that .... but it is interesting to understand what this jealousy is truly based on .... i don't think it is just that women will take over their position .... i think part of it has to do with the fact that we can take over their positions .... women can run houses, corporations, etc .... and we can still have kids .... men can't (at least not yet) ..... evolutionarily speaking it is always the creature that can adapt the best to its surroundings the makes it the farthest and women are able to adapt more ....

haylaaa....ye kya hai...ladki hai ya profession....ek baat batawo....tu karti kya hai yaar....dont tell me you read darwins books and sociological topics all day 😆😆

let me add more spice to your statement: we CAN take over their position for sure..their is no doubt about that, we are as capable as they are, we are as driven as they are, we are as competent as they are....BUT we are LIMITED in developing our selves. and especially for asian woman this process starts at home. yes! there is a current show Kasturi, the concept is that the girl wants to study and work and her family want her to get married.

as soon as we reach the age of 18 our parents start having sleeples nights (im so thankful that my parents are not in this group!)..........they start dreaming about their daughters life after marriage and sometimes i can understand because of pressure of elders in the family, financial and emotional conditions they let their children get married soon. But do they really think marriage is the ultimate answer. you will mary your daughter early. she will live her life on the same level as you did. she her self will have children. and she will get her children married as well. why dont asian parents understand that their daughters need a secured life in this current world. tomorrow if the husband leaves her...where will she go...what will she do.....she cant rely on her parents forever. if she has some level of education, she will able to feed her self and her children! Education is the key to success!! Agar shaadi se izzat milta hai to education se roti milta hai!! shadi to hota rahega. but parhai har waqt nahi kar sakte.

it is a shame if i think about it...i will give you an example.....last november my sweet nephew H. was born, son of my cousin S. And we were sitting in the hospital visitors hall...when my tjatja Y. came and said.....mera pota...mera ghar ka chiraag.....he will become a lawyer like his dad...he will make his dada proud...(he said in bihari allright😛)......and everyone was like ji inshallah he will do great things...

Now listen further.....last january.....same tjatja ke ghar par.....poti paida huwa....Zafira.....we were sitting in my bhabhis room and tjatja said......ek dumm apne maiwa ka mooh leyl hai (looks just like her mom).....and my other tjatja was sitting next to him and tjatja S said: Izaak we can get Zafira married to your pota.

I had no control....my gussa was coming out of my nose....and my mom was like what is ur problem....dont get in to it....ur little...😕

beta huwa to waah waah naam raushan karega....beti huwa to jhat se shaadi ke baat??

in this zamana!! 21st century our family, the elders....they still think like 8th century goats....omg i cannot take this........

i tooo find certain aspects of our culture important. i too think we shouldnt get all western. i tooo think we should protest our traditions because that is our inheritage. but should i also accept the injustice what has been done to women for ages now?? should i not fight for my rights and the rights of other women? dont i have the right to dream, only because i dont have balls....ooops sorry i should say 'because i am not a man'... 😳

i don't mean any offense to any male here on i-f or anywhere for that matter - and if my words are too hars lemme know and i'll edit .... i'm just trying to look at it psychologically (😕hey bhagwan ..... sha humne toh, mythology, zoology, or ab psychology .... sab cover kar liye .... yeh to uni ki classes ki thare lag rahe hai)

are tashu....sab tumne aur ruby ka kiya dhara hai...are maine toh simple si sawal diya tha....."why cant the girl be the hero" and you guys decided to start an academic, scientifically supported lecture which tries to explore why the situation is the way it is....why the girls are not the heros 😳

haha yea no more school, finally done 2nd year sciences NO MORE... no more haha hmm yea the whole adaption thing is "natural selection" aka survival of the fittest, aka evolution aka descent with modification! wow its been drilled into my mind yO! hmm u guys wanna start in psychological terms now?? OK here goes: society creates its norms, and boys and girls are suppose to act a certain way to fit in to that society, girls play with dolls boys play with action figures! its the way it has to be, one must follow their specific gender role to be accepted into society perhaps this is another reason why males/females are portrayed the way they are, they're are actually numerous factors that can be involved, but these are the only ones i can think of...

are maine abhi abhi gala phaar phaar kar samjhane ki koshish ki hai....education is our key to success....and ur being happy that you stopped with school...are is mein khush hone ki kaun si baat hai 😕

Tashu go back to school!!!!! before its too late!! Now...go fill the forms now!! go go go!! parhai jadi rakho!!!

and no tashu no! i was not born to play with toys and boys.....i did not came so far to touch the feet of men....i am proud to be a woman, i know i can achieve as much as a man and i know i am mentally stronger. i know i can be the hero! yes yes this girl can be the hero 😆

you know what..lets not forget....history is not an objective description of facts..history is written by people....so a high degree of subjectivity is involved. most scholar, especially in the past, were male. so who ever this psycho was that concluded that girls should play with dolls and thats the way it is....i think he was also one of the killers of women independence!!!!!

ppfff took me 30 min to reply to you and ruby...hayee my arm hurts yaar....but i luv it.....kahaan shuru kiya tha maine aur tum dono ne kaha le kar aageye mujhko.......uff its getting more and more complex 😆

how dare u be lazy in such an important discussion 😛

thank god u didnt read u would have all the three of us banned from this section 😆

because we are going nuts and i think others will go crazy when they read it...especially sweet guys like you shouldnt read it 😆

Throughout history, it has always been depicted that the maiden is the one to be saved by the Prince charming of her life. This has been and still is the stereotype of all stories. haylaaaa kya explanation hai...kitni politics ke saath handle ki hai aap ne...la jawaab hai ye hoth teri kalaam parhne ke baad.... 😆

so what ur saying is....women are stereotyped as the on the be saved and boys are stereotyped as the hero...so now knowing the fact that this stereotype is incorrect. we should ignore it and let it go...ka haar maan jaye hum?

so people are ready to see a woman in need.... even when they know the facts are not as they appear. i know that u are right...this is what are society expects to see ..so this is what they get to see...i know u didnt read my pages long analysis...so let me repeat in short....i think society is supporting this stereotype. it is rootened so deeply in our minds that even women think that their destiny lies at their husbands feet... 😕

ummmm, ok now im just lost for words.. Sha, you have a nack for making hard topics!😆 Uff, how i had to think of what to write! Dont know if it even makes sense... oh well...

are yaar u make perfect sense...how sweet words....you are a man and you admit that we can also be heroes...what more can i expect ....

ahahaa are maine kaha tha na i will crack ur brains 😆

luv ya

hey chill people. 99% of wht rubbish they show on daily soaps is far far away frm reality. so don get carried away. whtever they do is 4 their TRP's. it is business. they show the characters juzz 2 make money. 4 eg. in woh rehne waali mehlon ki the heroine wants 2 stay wid the hero although she knows he loves another gal n she will die in 40 days if she stays wid him.

in reality if a gal wil come 2 know i think she will 1st kill the guy n then his lover 4 cheating in such a big way. buttttttt most of the viewrs r females n they all like pari 4 the way she is.

as 4 society yeah i agree v live in a male-dominated society but i think gone r the days whn galz used 2 b thot as a burden. yes there r still a few restrictions on them but everything cannot change in an instant. change occurs gradually.

who knows after 20 yrs the roles may b even reversed. writing in red as it is a danger zone 4 us guyz. .

some1 was talking abt balls. i think indira gandhi had more balls than any other guyz. i mean she is better than any man tht tht time. don say galz don have any freedom at all. if they din have then u wud not b able write all those here.

people r becoming more broad-minded n the future may b 4 all of us equally i mean guyz n galz.

brick bats n bouqets r welcome. 😆

😕 .... sha yeh maine nahin likha ... i think crosby87 (is that ruby?) wrote that ..... yaar me toh abhi bhi uni mein hoon .... agle hafta se classes phir se shuru😭😆 .... lekin seriously - i agree education is very important ..... and i second sha's urge for crosby87 to bo back to school😊 .... and sha me tooooo ..... i wasn't raised to play with dolls - i had them but i also had toy cars and trucks and superman figures (me and my dad both love superman - used to watch it together and up to recently watched smallville together too😛😆) and i had tons and tons of BOOKS - kaha ne ke meri parents ke liye education hi sab kuch hai😆

😆 ..... my arm is hurting now too ...... and i want to applaud you for bringing up the point about history 👏 .... honestly our view of history is based on what is passed down to us ..... but the people who passed this info down that helped create these "norms of society" were male (i'm not even going to add "largely" cause it was probably 99.99% men to 0.01% women scholars back then - so glad that ratio has been turned on its head now😃)

and sorry for some reasons the colours and quotes are getting messed up - codes are not working for me😕

there is a girl in need, a girl indeed, helpless, innocent, deserted by life, left alone by others...

and then suddenly a prince charming come along....a rich guy, or a guy whos gonna fight for her, someone who makes her feel save, someone she feels good to have around, someone who understands her, respects her and blows new life into her

but yaar why cant it be the other way around

why doesnt the girl save the boy?? why do we always portray women as instable, helpless, lachaar, majboor, why does society think that it is us that needs to be helped?

it is proven that women are mentally stronger and more stable than man.

so why is it the girl who is helped 😕 why cant the girl be the hero!!

ya u r right i agree with u

hahahah i have a biological/ecological background😆, i had biology as a main course in high school. my dad is biology teacher so i learned a lot from him about Charles Darwin (he used to talk about him when he was supposed to read stories to me before i went to bed....😳) and what was left to learn woh school pe sikhne ko mila😛.....you know one of the most interesting part of Darwin's theory is the mutation aspect.....i was thinking can we not see evil things like "jealousy" like a mutation inside human souls, human nature? because when we are born, we are born care free, sin free, we are pure. from the moment we take our first breath our minds start to get spoiled by our environment. and slowly as we grow....our soul also grows and our nature also changes. so people are not born evil. they undergo an evolutionary change causing errors in there ethical values and it affects their integrity. the nature of a person.....once so pure and good....now mutates to evilness ......

hay allah😕.....i wonder why i was not this good in biology class......😆

i learnt differently in my psychology class, given that the environment does play a key role in development, i hate to break it to everyone but genetics play a bigger role... there are more similarities between a biological child and their biological parents than their is with kids with adopted parents... im not saying environment has no impact at all but genetics is key... its why some people are naturally smart or athletic while others have to study for hours or practice for hours to get the same results... even our happiness is genetically disposed!! u can be the richest person in the world, but someone dirt poor can be happier than you.... what u said about being born free, care free, sin free... ur actually going along with Aristotle's and Locke's theory, that the mind is a blank state... but its been proven that some ideas are inborn (genetic) .

hey wat i dont get is, when someone calls u a "janwaar" (animal) in hindhi or punjabi its considered to be rude and a huge diss, but technically we are classified as "animals" so i dont get whats to get offended about , ahaha just a thought! i saw the word janwaar being used in alot of indian serials so it came to mind.

hhmm i dunnoo....in dutch we also use "jaanwar" to say that a person is a monster. it goes something like this: wat een beest!! (what a monster) 😛.......hhmm ok forgive me if my following analysis is wrong oki.....in my religion we don't have something with animals...

but i mean in hindu religion hanuman ji is very respected and he is half elephant right? and the cow...the mother....is also an animal....so animals have a high respected position.....and the cobra als has some relation with the culture.....so why do they use the term "jaanwar" to state that someone is bad. because who says that "jaanwars" or animals are bad

and yes .....following Darwin ( i think ruby really believes in this theory).....if we follow his evolution theory.....we are related to the apes --> "homo sapiens" 😛

so...hmm omg omg i am a jaanwar....ruby did u have to bring up this topic 😛😆

hahaha sorry but i was justthinking about it... when someone used it as an insult in a indian soap... yea theres only 5 kingdoms... Plantae, Animalia, Fungi, Monera, and Protista! and we are classified as animals... so i dont get the insult here! 😆😆

true, but i think another root to evil could be revenge! muwaha yea not all guys are bad, we're bashing them like crazy here mite get in trouble ahah PLEASE DONT get angry at THIS MIKEY 😳 hahaha jk!! 😉

are shukr kar khuda ka...he was too lazy to read the whole analysis 😆

warne he would brake our bones 😆

but he did missed a lot didnt he 😛

haha phew, dodged a bullet there!😉
