Analysis #3Subject of Analysis: Episode #462
Analysis:
The new montage is interesting. While Urmi is happy about the marriage, I don't want it to impose on Diya and Shaurya's friendship.
What the hell? So this lawyer has a daughter of his own and he still sides with rapists? This is the type of hypocrisy that makes me astounded. They are okay with others getting harmed and see them suffer but when it comes to their own loved ones, they get miffed.
Diya! She is my star right now! I absolutely love how strong she has become. The way she has stood up for herself is everything that I want from her! If she is able to be her own support and fend for her own character, then she doesn't need anyone else by her side. It's time for everyone to realize that Diya is no longer a victim. But rather a fighter and she will do everything in her power to fend for herself. She is not weak and should not be underestimated.
The way she turned the hypocrisy around at the lawyer and threw those rapists back onto him and his daughter is outstanding. Of course Diya wouldn't want his daughter to be actually harmed in any way but simply the idea of such a heinous act being committed is enough to make him shut up.
Another thing, the way Diya has accepted that she has been raped is another crucial matter. It is a gross violation on her person and it doesn't take away the fact that what happened to her was wrong. However, she is no longer victimizing herself over it. She is taking action to get the justice that she deserves and is entitled to.
I love the irony behind Karan's truth being revealed in court. He had a great desire to appear in front of the big screen and was willing to become a sell out to do so. That is exactly what happened. He did become a sell out, but the only difference is that the screen that he appeared on was in court, a pretty grave matter on its own.
One thing I find disgusting about Jamdaar is that he orchestrated a rape to occur on an innocent girl and yet here is worshiping Mata Rani. It is despicable.
What Urmi is saying right now is mostly to inform the society all the rights a rape victim has and the crucial steps that must be taken in order to provide sufficient proof to win the case. Fearing what society has to say, like Diya's parents, could greatly hinder the case. By not getting the medical report conducted, they are ensuring that justice will never be received.
By assuming that he is greater than Mata Rani herself is highly foolish of Jamdaar.
Okay, now here comes the interesting part. Shaurya holding Jamdaar's son at gunpoint. The rage that he has and simply the way he is making his threats is amazing. This is definitely a side that I will want to see explored further. Shaurya has the potential to go really dark if he is angered in the wrong way.
Now here comes the greatest moment of all. The son that Jamdaar had done all these heinous acts for dies by his own hands. His biggest mistake was underestimating not only the goddess but women in general. Here Mata Rani gained justice by taking the life of the person because of whom her innocent child was assaulted upon. On the other hand, in court, Urmi gained justice by caging the demons.
One more thing, before I forget - glad to see that Karan and Jamdaar will be prosecuted as well. They have also committed heinous crimes and deserve to be severely punished for it.
Wow, I'm actually crying.
The whole struggle that Diya had to go through, the trials and tribulations that she had to face by her own and society, it was all too real. But in the end, justice was achieved.
Good defeated evil. Light won over evil.
As women they showed that they are not to be underestimated. If pushed the right buttons, they will stand up for the atrocities they are facing. We are living in a time and age where we will no longer suffer at the hands of others. Whether they are men or women, we will fight for what is right and that is the right to live in peace and with dignity.
Here come the narrow-minded ladies that we all love to hate. It is these type of women that I hate the most but find the most interesting as well. Stigma, standards, boundaries and limits are all set by society. By fellow human beings that have been living in a patriarchal society for so long that when they see a small sliver of change about to occur, they become flustered. It is a normal reaction for men to suppress a woman because they feel that their status and power is being taken away from them. But for another woman to do that surprises me. How can you as a woman talk about another woman in such a degrading manner? How can you as a woman berate a woman for being raped? For being brave enough to take a stand and fend for herself. To have the courage to face the entire world and fight for justice. When the other woman refused to get her disabled son married to Diya, I was miffed. Is a woman's virginity that important to society? If she gets raped, then she becomes impure. But what if she is engaged in sexual activities prior to marriage? What if she goes on dates? What if she has had a live-in relationship with another man? Will these standards still apply?
It is apparent that Diya's struggle is not over yet. There is still miles to go but the self-respect that society claims she has lost, she has earned it by winning the case. She has gained the courage and strength to fight. She may falter at times but she has gotten the foundation that she needed to cement herself.
Regardless, and unfortunately, this is a fight that Diya will have to battle for the rest of her life. People's behavior around her will change when they get to know she has been raped. Some's attitude may become hypocritical, cynical and highly negative like Damini. Some may be in support, impressed and in awe of her for what she has done. Then there are others who simply may not know how to react around her. How do you react around someone who has been raped? Cautious, wary, or normal?
Overall this was a fantastic episode. I absolutely love that Diya's rape case came to a culmination with the Jagratan. It was extremely fitting and appropriate.
The star of the episode for me was undoubtedly Diya for the way she stood up to Nikam. Shaurya shined in that moment when he was in a fit of rage and had picked up the gun. As for Urmi, well she shines all the time. However, I did not find her response to Damini to be appropriate. It seemed more like she did it to give Damini a fitting reply. She did not consider Shaurya's opinion on this and rather stated that as a mother she would not mind having Diya as her daughter-in-law. But she did not ask nor bother to find out whether Shaurya would prefer to have Diya as his wife or more importantly, who Diya wishes to have as her husband. Or whether she even wishes to get married at all.
I have stated this before some place else, but a woman's life does not begin and end at marriage. There is still so much that Diya can do before heading into marriage. She could go back to work and earn her spot back at Awaaz. By that I mean that she can show that she is still capable of doing her work. By engaging herself and focusing on her career, she can create an identity for herself that is independent of her rape. Because of the media coverage, right now she will be recognized as merely a rape victim. But through her work, she can begin to be recognized as Diya the reporter/journalist.
I hope we get to see this direction soon as I don't want Diya to be tied down to becoming a wife and facing atrocities by Damini's hands.
