"It seems books r ur best pals," Antara chortled . Raghu was speechless 4 a few seconds wid a shy smile showing up on his face. He opened his stuttering mouth widout any words stored in it wid a response.
"No, I was just..." He left d sentence hanging as he steadily kept d book beside him.
"U were just...?"
"I was just reading dis short story... Ah... quite an interesting one!"
"So aren't u going 2 share ur interesting story wid me ?" She demanded as her eyes narrowed and her upper and lower eye lashes kissed each other more frequently. He swallowed harder, struggling 2 cme up wid some story. He reached 4 his book quite discreetly as he cud'nt think of any escape frm those brown eyes.
"Hey hey ... no classroom reading please. I want 2 hear ur story in ur own words," Antara said. Her eyes widened like an ocean dis time.
"Of course... why not," he stammered
"So let's get started," she said excitedly , elongating her dark pink glossy lips in a heart stopping smile.
Raghu summoned enough courage 2 open his mouth , but widout any story wid him. He was hardly reading any story.
"I don't think it will hold ur interest," He said in a few broken sentences.
"Don't lie; u hve already told me it's interesting . So dre u go," she spoke wid varying expressions.
Now he realized he had 2 think of smething but it was as difficult as finding a bucket full of water in a desert at dat precise moment. After taking a few seconds , he was struck by d idea of narrating her d story of sme movie. Still dere was risk in case she realized it was d story of sme film n not an original one frm d book. He choose 2 play safe; He picked an old movie n not a latest one. After taking 5 minutes 2 prepare himself, he opened his mouth.
"It's about 2 men- james and victor, they r kind of thieves. Once dey go 2 a village called Gabriel. James and Victor meet Taylor who is d village chief. Taylor persuades James and victor 2 agree 2 fight Gabriel and free d whole village frm his threat. And yeah, taylor (D village thief) ia a man wid only one hand. Years ago his other hand was axed by Gabriel so it ends wid james and victor killing Gabriel . But sadly, james also gets killed fighting wid Gabriel." The story was over and now Raghu breathed . Antara was startled and he noticed she was controlling her laughter. The next moment she asked 4 his book and he gave it 2 her in diffidence . She gave a quick look 2 d page of contents and closed d book wid a big smile.
"Raghu, there is no such story,"
"There is .. I am sure.. I just read.." He fumbled . He said 'shit' in his imagination.
"Dear, it just can't be b'coz it was ur own Englis remake of Sholay starring Amithabh Bachhan and Dharmendra,"
Antara articulated dis time and laughed like mad.
