Chapter 14

I walked back to my room with a huge smile on my face. I was in love, with Antara. Mom told me how I had confessed my love before. But this time I wanted to make it even more special. I fell asleep while trying to figure out how to confess my love to Antara.

"Antara beta, haldi ki thal kaha hain?" Priya aunty asked. "Le kar aa rahi hoon," I said. I hurried out to the hall where everyone was getting ready for the haldi rasam. All of the decorations were white. It looked beautiful. I handed aunty the haldi and headed up the stairs where I saw Raghu. He had a different look on his face. He looked so much happier than he was before. "Good morning. Aaj kuch khaas hain kya?" I asked. "Good morning. Kuch khaas nahi. Waise tumne dawai li kya?" He asked. "Raghu! Main choti bachi nahi hoon," I said. "I know, I was just making sure," he said. "Ok, ab main jao?" I asked. "Haan jao," he said. I turned and ran back up to my room.

After taking to Antara, I headed towards Riya's room, which was down stairs. In the few days that we had been here for, Riya had gotten to know Antara much better than I did. I needed her help to plan out the perfect proposal. Riya was shocked when I told her how I felt about Antara. "Bhai... Are you serious? Aap ko saach mein Antara se pyaar ho gaya hain?" she asked. "Haan," I said. "Wow bhai. This is awesome. Par main Antara ke baare mein zayaada nahi jaanti. Par Piya toh Antara ki best friend hain. Woh aap ki madat zaroor karegi," she said. She called Piya into the room and told her everything. "Raghu, really? Oh my God, Antara kitni lucky hain ki usse tum jaisa ladka milega," she said. "Ab tum dono please meri madat karoge," I said, eagerly. "Of course," they said and the two of them launched into a discussion of how to create a perfect proposal for Antara.

I headed downstairs with Payal Di and saw Raghu walking with Ishaan from the other side. "Jee bahar ke dekh lijiye Ishaan ji, ek baar haldi ki rasam hogi, toh phir aap shaadi tak Di ka chera nahi dekh paoge," I said. "Kyun?" Raghu asked. "Arre, rasam hoti hain, issi liye," I replied. "Aisi rasam bani kiss ne?" he asked. "Pata nahi, par rasam toh rasam hoti hain aur rasam toh nibhani paregi," I said. "Antara, Raghu neeche aao," Priya aunty called. We walked down the stairs with Payal and Ishaan. The ceremony started and everyone was smiling. After putting the haldi on Payal and Ishaan, I went to go wash my hands, when someone came from me and put on haldi on my face. "Khete hain ki iss se khoobsurati barti hain. Waise tume iss ki zaroorat nahi hain, par maan kiya, toh laga diya," Raghu said as he came in front of me. "Par meri shaadi thodi nahi hain," I said. "Toh kya hua?" Raghu asked. "I don't like haldi," I said. I had haldi on my hand and quickly wiped it on to his face. "Hissab barabar," I said. "Acha," he said. "Haan," I said and ran away. "Eh Miss. Kaul, sunnah," he called. "Kya hain?" I said. "Kuch nahi, tu ja," he said.

"Antara beta," I called out. "Ji Rukhsana Aunty?" she said. "Antara, maine tumari ma si baat ki thi, unohne kaha tha ki tum Mumbai aana chati ho, internship ke liye," I said. "Ji Aunty," she said. "Kya tum humare saath Mumbai chalogi?" I asked her. "Aunty... Mom, Dad, Arjun... unn sab ko chor ke and that to all of a sudden?" she said. "Tumare Mom Dad se main baat karongi. I'm sure that they will agree. Par kya tum humare saath aane ke liye tayaar ho?" I asked. "Aunty, I would love to go. Aap ko paata hain aap logo ke aane se kuch dino phele hi mujhe mera acceptance letter mila tha," she said. "Toh phir theek hain, main tumari mom se baat karongi," I said. "Thank you so much Aunty," she said and gave me hug. "Ab tum jao aur mehndi ke liye tayaar ho jao," I said. "Ok, bye Aunty," she said and left.

"Bhai, kal shaadi hain aur phir hum wapas Mumbai chalenge," Riya said. "Pata hain. Aaj raat kuch na kuch toh karna padega," I said. "Par kya?" she asked. "Raghu, maine abhi Antara ki mom se baat ki hain, woh maan gayi hain," mom said as she walked in to Riya's room. "Kiss liye?" I asked. "Antara humare saath Mumbai aa rahi hain," she said. "Kya?" I said. She was coming to Mumbai with us? But for what? "Kiss liye?" Riya asked. "Antara wahan apni internship karna chati hain, issi liye," she said. "Toh Bhai, iss ka matlab aap Mumbai jaa kar puri tayaari karke Antara ko apne pyaar ka izhaar kar sakte ho," Riya said. "Haan, par tab tak kya karoon?" I asked. "Tab tak hume Antara ko apne pyaar ka ehsaas dilana hoga. I don't think ki usse abhi tak apne pyaar ka ehsaas hua hain," mom said. "Ok," I said. "Bhai now that everything is planned, aap apne kamre mein jao, mujhe tayaar hona hain," Riya said. "Accha jata hoon," I said. I walked out of the room just to bump into Antara. "Ouch," we said at the same time. "Sorry, tume lagi toh nahi?" We said in sync. We started laughing. "Nahi, main theek hoon," she said. "Ok ab mujhe jaana chaiye," I said and went towards my room. "Waise, sirf mujhe lag raha hain, ya uss haldi ne saach mein tumari khoobsurati bara di?" I asked. I saw her face then red. "Antara Kaul sharmati hain, yeh toh mujhe pata tha. Par itna sharmati hain, yeh nahi pata tha," I said and walked away.

"Waise, sirf mujhe lag raha hain, ya uss haldi ne saach mein tumari khoobsurati bara di?" He asked. He said it again. He thought I was beautiful. I blushed from the thought and he said. "Antara Kaul sharmati hain, yeh toh mujhe pata tha. Par itna sharmati hain, yeh nahi pata tha." After that, he left me with my confused feelings and racing heart. Yeh mere saath ho kya raha hain? Why was Raghu becoming more and more special with each passing day? And was he flirting with me? "Bappa, yeh kya ho raha hain?" I said out loud.
