Part V HERE COMES THE TWIST!

Antara looked on nervously as Aaji took a piece of Karanji from Antara's dabba and took a bite. Today Antara had attempted to make karanjis and it had come out pretty nicely. Hence, Antara was at Raghu's home to feed Aaji karanji and get her review about it. They were sitting on Aaji's bed in Aaji's room. "Mmm...", Aaji swooned as she tasted Antara's karanjis. Antara smiled at Aaji's reaction. "Kya mast karanji banaayi hai! Ek dum best! Raghu khaayega toh ek dum khush ho jaayega!" Antara smiled softly at Raghu's name and looked downwards. Aaji noticed her reaction and smiled, "Sach sach bata, Chhakuli. Tu ne yeh Karanji Chintu ke liye banaayi hai na?" In marathi, Chhakuli was a term of endearment for small girl child like baby, kuchi koo etc. From her childhood, Antara was known to Aaji as Chhakuli! But as she grew up, Antara started disliking the term the same way Raghu disliked being called Chintu in front of others. And right now too, Antara disliked it and hence, pouted, "Antara! Mera naam Antara hai, Aaji! Chhakuli nahi! Ab main badi ho gayi hoon!" Aaji smiled sweetly, "Arre! Tu kitni bhi badi ho jaa tu toh mere liye Chhakuli hi hogi! Tere aur Chintu ke bachchon ke saamne bhi main tum dono ko Chintu Chhakuli hi bulaaungi!" Antara's eyes widened as her face turned red till her ears. Her face turned serious, "Aaji! Bas karo! Ab toh aap ummeed lagaana chod hi do! Main aur Raghu kabhi ek nahi ho sakte!" Aaji frowned, "Arre! Aise kaise bol sakte hai tu re! Tu dekhti jaa! Ek din Raghu tujhe mere ghar ki bahu banaakar jaroor laayega! Tu dekh lena!" Antara got up from the bed and faced away from Aaji. "Main sach keh rahi hoon, Aaji! Raghu aur mujhse pyaar karega? Kabhi nahi hoga, Aaji! Jo aaj tak itne saalon mein nahi hua woh ab kyun hoga? Maine ummeed chod di! Ab aap aur Machmach bhi yeh ummeed chod do!" A single lone tear fell from her right eye as she voiced her anguish out loud. Aaji frowned, "Arre ae Chhakuli! Arre ae yedi! Tu woh nahi dekh rahi jo main dekh rahi hoon!" Antara turned in surprise at Aaji's words. Aaji smiled, "Tu ne dekha nahi ki kis tarah Raghu tere aas paas ghumta hai, tujhse kitni saari baatein karta hai! Tum dono ki toh achchi khaasi dosti haina?" Antara shook her head, "Ab bhul rahi hai Aaji!" She turned and walked towards the window facing the main road. "Meri aur Raghu ki sirf dosti hui hai aur kuch nahi! Aur mujhe aur kuch hone ki ummeed bhi nahi hai!" Aaji hurrumphed, "Par mujhe toh hai! Achcha yeh sab chod! Mujhe yeh bata ki tu Raghu se itna pyaar kyun karti hai?" Antara rolled her eyes. From the time Antara confessed her love for Raghu in front of Aaji, Aaji always asked her the same question. Tell me the reason behind your love for Raghu! She did not know why but her answer to Aaji's question always made Aaji happy. Aaji waited eagerly for Antara's answer. From the time Antara confessed her love for Raghu to Aaji, she had always faced disappointment from Raghu as he used to ignore Antara. So whenever Antara felt sad and depressed due to Raghu's ignorance, Aaji asked Antara to recite the reasons behind her love for Raghu hoping that the answer would bolster Antara's confidence. Antara remained silent for a while and Aaji frowned, "Arre Bol! Bata kyun tujhe usse pyaar hai?" Antara smiled and opened her mouth.

Raghu entered his house with a smile on his face. He was going to propose Antara today. He will tell her his feelings for her. He was walking towards his room when he heard Aaji and Antara talking. His heart started beating fast; Antara yahaan hai? He had to meet her. He had to meet her now. He placed his bag on sofa nearby and marched towards Aaji's room. But as he neared the room, he heard Aaji say, "Arre Bol! Bata kyun tujhe usse pyaar hai?" and he stopped in his tracks in horror. Antara aur pyaar? Kisse? Kahin woh phone waala ladka toh nahi! He neared the room and stood by the room's door eavesdropping on Antara's and Aaji's conversation. He heard Antara speak, "Pyaar kyun karti hoon? Yeh kaisa sawaal aapne poocha Aaji! Us mein pyaar karne ko kya nahi hai! Uski har baat alag hai! Woh duniya mein sabse alag insaan hai! Mumbai ki bhaasha mein bolun toh ek dum one piece hai! Bhagwaan ne us jaisa koi aur banaya hi nahi!" Raghu felt jealousy take over. One piece! Dekhna bahut jald uska ek bhi piece is duniya mein nahi bachega! Antara continued, "Uska chalna, uska bolna, uska dekhna haaye!" Raghu gritted his teeth! Chalna, bolna, dekhna! Tu dekh Antara! Tere us romeo ki taange tod doonga, jabaan kaat daalunga aur aankhein nikaale doonga! Phir dekhta hoon kaise chalta, bolta aur dekhta hai! Antara's voice took on an excited tone, "Woh sabki madat karta hai! Kabhi ghamand nahi karta! Sabko khush karne ki koshish karta hai! Us mein koi guroor nahi! Aur uska dil! Uska dil toh is duniya se bhi bada hai!" Raghu felt his anger drain away as he realized that Antara's love did not seem like a puppy love. He felt pain grip his heart but he continued to listen. Antara's voice took on a dreamy tone, "Woh meri zindagi hai! Uske baghair main kuch bhi nahi! Woh hain toh main hoon! Uski wajah se meri dhadkan chalti hai! Uski mohabbat mein main apne aapko bhool sakti hoon! Woh kehde toh main jaan bhi de sakti hoon! Woh mera Krishna main uski Meera hoon! I love him, Aaji! I love him crazily!" Raghu felt his heart stopping at Antara's confession. He was right! This was not some puppy love! This was serious love! Maine bahut der kardi, Bappa! Mera pyaar toh kisi aur ka ho gaya! Suddenly, he was brought out of his thoughts by Aaji's question, "Achcha! Ek baar uska naam toh bataa de?"

Aaji sighed dreamily as she heard Antara's words. Kya Jodi hogi mere Chintu aur Chhakuli ki? Ek dum perfect. Ab bas Chintu ko apne pyaar ka ehsaas ho toh mazaa aa jaaye! She looked towards the doorway in anticipation of Raghu's arrival when she saw a pair of sneakers peaking from behind the door. Are! Yeh toh Chintu ki boot hai? Woh aagaya kya? Usne Antara ki baat sun toh nahi li? Suddenly, an idea entered her head and she smirked. Agar Raghu ko pata chal jaaye ki Antara us se pyaar karti hai toh phir Raghu apne dil ki baat bhi samajh lega! She smiled smugly and piped up, "Achcha! Ek baar uska naam toh bataa de?" Antara frowned and turned to look at her. "Aaji! Aapko toh uska naam pata hai!" Aaji grinned, "Phir bhi! Mere liye! Ek baar!" Aaji winked at her and Antara looked out of window in embarrassment. Aaji whined, "Ae bolna re!" Antara smiled when her eyes noticed someone on the road, "Machmach!", she shouted.

Raghu's eyes closed in despair. Yeh Machmach se pyaar karti hai! He felt his heart wail in despair. Main sach mein late hogaya! Aur Machmach meri Miss Call ko jeet gaya! Now he regretted each and every fight he had with Antara. He closed his eyes in pain as tears started to well up in his eyes. He walked away from the room swiftly to the terrace.

Aaji's eye widened in shock. Yeh Machmach se pyaar? Yeh kab hua? Ab tak toh Raghu ke gun gaa rahi thi! Raghu!! She remembered Raghu was standing by the door listening to their conversation. She looked at the door right at the time when Raghu marched away. She closed her eyes in pain. Hey Bappa! Yeh kya hogaya? Raghu ko kya sunna tha aur kya sun liya? Par yeh Antara ne Machmach ka naam liya? "Kya? Tu Machmach se pyaar karti hai!!!!!", Aaji roared in shock and Antara winced. She turned around and smiled sheepishly. "Nahi! Main toh Raghu se pyaar karti hoon!" Aaji glared at her, "Toh Machmach ka kyun naam liya?" Antara shrugged still looking sheepish, "Woh maine Machmach ko Churchgate bheja tha kuch classical songs ki CD lene ke liye! Toh use aate hue dekha abhi toh excitement mein mooh se nikal gaya!" Aaji shook her head at Antara's antics. Suddenly, Antara piped up excitedly, "Aaji! Main chalti hoon! Time hogaya hai! Machmach se CD leke ghar jaati hoon! Haaye! Mere favorite Classical songs!" Antara sighed happily. Aaji nodded still worried about Chintu and Antara ran out.

Raghu sat on the cot looking outside when Antara ran out of the house shouting Machmach's name on top of her voice. He looked at her with pain in his heart. Kyun Bappa kyun? Mere saath hi aisa kyun? She saw her talk to Machmach for a while after which she hugged him and ran away to her house. His eyes teared up as he stared at her retreating back.

He turned away unable to look at her anymore.

Teri Chaahat Mein Hoon Awaara Sa

He turned around unable to ignore her presence anymore but she had already entered her house.

Tujhko Tarse Meri Nigaahein Ve

He closed his eyes and finally let the tears flow out.

Muhko Tujh Mein Fanaa Ho Jaane De

Teri Baahon Mein Mujhe Kho Jaane De

He watched her come out of balcony and he wiped his tears hurriedly.

She turned and noticed him. Her eyes captured his eyes into an eyelock.

She smiled and his heart skipped a beat. She turned and walked away but he kept on staring at the place she stood.
