An urge to express , is inherent to the nature of the mortals... so deem the gods...while unto the mortals...

To feel , a prelude , to understand , a prerequisite to an expression...
Misunderstood ... boon unto the prolific , Misunderstand.. predeliction of the vain ...
Woes of Expression.. so cry the poetic , embracing the noetic...
Hushed to silence, they avow ..'Rather misunderstood than damned '...

Oh fortunate are the misunderstood, for they express, while cursed to misfortune , are those who comprehend not, the nuances of life...

the first time i ever attempted verse, this is what happened....now you understand the relevance of the topic to me!!!

I feel, I think, I wish
To enunciate, articulate, share
To communicate the abstractions
This mind remits;
Whilst the trammeled tongue
Grapples to pronounce
The parlance of the psyche.
A scour, a rummage
Desperate attempts and ailing lexicons
Of the intellect
Solecisms, misapprehensions
Finally
Encumbrance
"Words", he said,
"They are so inadequate."

Aarti: Aaah ... Oh... Erm... is it really what I seem to comprehend of your reply... or is it my imagination...

You seem to have understood and voiced and express, what I felt , while I grappled with it... I know you'd hear it , fine this time too... even as I still grapple... with all I am feeling right now....

Overwhelmed...!!!

You should be proud of this…no doubt whatsoever!!!

I perhaps haven't told you this, but post literature, I specialized in Linguistics for my MPhil and PhD. It is indeed interesting to note that while we humans are perhaps the only organisms gifted with language with words, these very words hamper and are abused to hearts content. Imagine a life (like that of honey bees), where our communication would be limited to complex quadratic equations to indicate the source of honey.

Those that are blessed with verbal diarrhea are invariably the victims of their own eloquence. When the tongue enjoys equivocal (pun intended) affinity with the mind, the resulting expression is not always popular, neither is the agent of the expression. But truly, as you have said so fluently "fortunate are the misunderstood for they express, while cursed to misfortune are those who comprehend not, the nuances of life."

Better to have expressed and misunderstood than never to have had my say at all. Oh still grappling to find the right words to express what I feel.

Once upon a time there lived a woman living a life of mundane domesticity and work, nothing exciting, nothing fun, her brain vegetating for lack of stimulation anguishing thus. Then one day she made bold and ventured out hesitantly, taking her first steps cautiously on a journey seeking some emancipation from the ennui, stimulation for the intellect or food for thought and lo and behold she struck gold, providentially. She discovered an expedition, a voyage so enriching it broadened her horizons, challenged her on, raising the bar and provoked her to think; soul searching, exhilirating, and profound and deeply satisfying.

She was hesitant to express but then found the courage to give form and structure to her thoughts, encouraged all the while, acknowleged, without condemnation or sarcasm, lead gently on without fear or favor.

i am sorry...i swore i wouldn't discuss certain people anymore, but something that made me toss and turn last night, unable to sleep. i don't even know if the place for the thought is here...

when a diatribe encounters a vehement disapproval, a plea for silence and an outburst of disgust at the thought, is it really possible that the afflictor can lumber along the path of verbal slander unaffected??? irrespective of how despicable you find the person on the other side, how far can you really go without feeling any remorse???
