So true dear... I absolutely agree with you.... we are always going to belong in stone age.... people just make opinion about others without giving them a chance to prove their innocence....
But here in this fictional story i think its all Riddhima's fault... She made her life miserable herself by behaving so unreasonably in front of so many people.... whatever my issues are with SId and Riddhima's pairing one thing I am sure of here and that is Riddhima is alone responsible for whatever Shashank told her to do.... and Poor sid is the sufferer here....
Hey Nitz!!!!!
What an awsome post on a sad reality that is not new!!!! š.....Sofiee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long time. Good to see you , honey. š¤This attitude towards woman will NEVER change, no matter how much we rant, rave, progress!!!! šš.... True , true. Dress us in Pradas and Guccis but still on our head lies the crown of family's honour which often hangs our heads with the weight.I suppose our elders no matter how educated or forward thinking they have become, their reaction will be similar when it comes to women's honour!!!!i think it's fair to say as we are born and brought up in these societies & way of thinking our action in those circumstances may be not that different either. My point being that despite how much we understand the situation is not as grave a is being portrayed, if one wants to live in peace after such an encounter, from society, community, as well as family, its very difficult to wipe that one smear from people's thoughts. And it will be continously resurrected in every other marriage proposal that comes to other memebers or relatives of that family!!!!! Or if something like this happens to someone else.š..... You have summed it up so perfectly. Our honour canvases have to be pristine in order for us to live in peace and honour - after all isn't this society more interested in our lives rather than their own?Thanx 4 th thought provoking post! š
and again this is very very off the topic here..so forgive me..
but our parents n family members have lived their lives in this same society's fabric...n they have suffered its extremes in their own ways....experience teaches u caution...their experiences with the way of life have left them wiser n if not bitter than atleast cynical........ that is a very valid point , indeed. Experience , from generation to generation is passed on and the elders only learn to be more cautious and wary of the society. Since we form the society , perhaps we are wary of each-other.... and this makes women more vulnerable .they try to help their children..by not letting them make the mistakes they made..so their children r spared the pain, anguish n struggle they underwent...isnt it normal for any parent to try n teach a child from his or her past mistakes...... yes, it is.Very much. Parents do the best they can to cocoon us from the harsh winds and their wisdom and experience comes in handy.Shanky here is a father...here he is not thinking like a dr. but feeling like a father...he does not want his darling daughter to face the holocaust of societal censure....coz it can actually kill u...yes have seen it...society is ruthless...which father would like his child to face such a tough battle, which parent would not like to take an easy albeit a wrong way out for their child's protection n shield them from intense never ending pain..easy to say but as parents we would not have the heart to let our child go through this...maybe as an individual, i would be stronger.š..... Perfectly put. Shanky's position and fathers like him is understandable. The first thought of every father is to safeguard their child. Shanky is perhaps doing the best that he can in the given situation.

Thanks Ani,
I think people care about their opinions and judgments than the actual picture which might be innocent . We , as a society are conditioned to think and act in a certain manner and that is perhaps our greatest shortcoming.Judge , judge , judge.
In the story , yes. It is Riddhima'a fault but now, she and Sid , they both will pay the price for it. Shankypanks is only acting as a normal cultured and conditioned father . Sigh.
Great writing Pocahontas....Can I call you Poco? Sounds cuter!.....Poco is cool. Me likes it. š³
You're right....even after so many years...Indian society seems to be stuck in stone age....Everybody tends to think that a woman just CANNOT live without a man by her side! How sexist! I really expected Shashank to be a bit more broad minded...instead of getting Riddhima married to someone who she just met hardly a month ago in the name of "Honour"....If only someone could actually listen to Sid *sigh*.....These Indian dramas I tell you!
i am brought up in a society where der is parda( veil) a veil which exists helps n destroys a way tooo many things????
