Gaurav Khanna: I would have loved to be born now as today's times has its own benefits. I would have had a lot more fun with the technology and the gadgets that we have these days. But certain things would be different. Like with more and more nuclear families, the joint family system would have been completely dissolved. But I guess we should look at the positive things of this time.

Recently, the entire team of Zee TV's Dil Se Diya Vachan shot non-stop for more than 24 hours, as they did not have episode banks..

The CINTAA rule wherein no unit member can work for more than 12 hours, which includes actors of the telly and bolly industry has no doubt given some breathing space for all. But daily soaps seldom give the actors time for themselves, and the struggle to shoot the episodes on time and also have a bank is always on!!

Recently Zee TV's Dil Se Diya Vachan faced such a problem wherein the unit was left with no episode banks, and the team had to work for extra hours to deliver on time.

Our source tells us, "Recently the sets of Dil Se Diya Vachan was tension-filled as the creatives and actors were striving hard to complete their deadlines. They shot continuously for more than 24 hours to stay on track. The actors were given a break of two hours in between, wherein they rested on sets after which they resumed shoot".

We contacted, Gaurav Khanna to know more on this, but he said, "I do not want to comment on this issue".

Our efforts to reach to the creatives on the sets were futile.

Vandana Joshi, the girl who marched into the hearts of viewers with her versatile dance steps in Dance India Dance is going thro' her first acid test as an actor in Zee TV's newly launched show, Dil Se Diya Vachan.

Tellybuzz had a chat with her regarding her role as Nandini in the show and she was more than happy to share the moments with us.

How did you end up with Dil Se Diya Vachan?
After they saw the DID footage, the production team contacted me for the auditions of the show, and after several rounds of the auditions, I bagged the role of Nandini in Dil Se Diya Vachan.

How was the experience of working with Neena Gupta?
It is a pleasure working with a senior actor like Neena Gupta. When I came to know that I am going to share the screen space with Neena Gupta I was really excited but nervous too because most of my scenes are with her in the show. My mother has always been an ardent fan of hers ever since she saw Saas and after that we have seen her in roles of various types. She is a supercool person and always ready to help. There was a hospital scene where I had to deliver a certain line which was not coming out properly and it was she who helped me to put it across the way it had to be.

Nandini is a very shy character, how are you in real life?
The maturity level of Nandini and Vandana is the same. But at the same time the circumstances make Nandini a very introvert and a shy person. In real I am a little extrovert and I speak my heart being in my limits.

Do you want a Dr Kalyani in real life as your saas?
I would definitely like to have a Dr Kalyani as my saas because she is a person who moves along with the trend keeping in mind the traditional values.

You have done a reality show too, how was the difference felt after you entered a daily soap?
In DID there was 24X7 practices and rehearsals, be it day or night and here too there is shoot for nearly 12 to 13 hours. The hard work is the same but the nature of work is different. In DID I had to show what I had learnt, but in a daily soap there is a new thing to learn each day. As a new comer I have learnt a lot of things from this show.

Challenges while doing a daily soap?
One of the great challenges is that you get less time for your family and that's the one I miss a lot.

Your upbringing?
I am from Delhi and my family is still there and I am a graduate in Philosophy honours. After my graduation I joined a dance company in Delhi for some time and its then when DID happened to me.

How was the reaction of the audience after you impersonated Nandini?
The audience is very happy and I am getting good responses from people and they say that Nandini is really a sweet character and she looks good.

You have been associated with shows on Zee TV, any particular reason and how was it working with Zee?
I have a contract with Zee for a year and they have been really good to all the participants of the show as they really offer you with shows. People have a notion that after reality shows the participants are left jobless, but that has never happened to me as Zee has always been in touch regarding the offers.

Have other offers approached you after DID?
After DID I have been doing shows all over and I did receive an offer from the channel but I couldn't make up for the auditions due to my schedule.

How did acting happen to you?
I had been into dancing and acting since my school days, but whatever that has happened in my life has not been preplanned but just happened. So when I got the offer I just thought, why not give it a try.

What was the reaction for your family on the decision of your acting?
My mother always wanted me to become an actress rather than a dancer and she is now really happy for me with the rest of my family.

Other than acting and dancing what are your other hobbies?
There is nothing specific but I love to be at home.

Daily soap is very hectic, so has dancing become a sideline for you?
At the moment, it is 24X7 Dil Se Diya Vachan and I do not have time for my shows. But whenever I get time in the vanity, Abigale and I used to discuss a lot about dance as she also loves it.

Your DID mate is also doing a show in Zee TV as main lead like you, so do you think her show would be a competition for you?
Binny and I can never be competitors and we were not even in DID. People used to think we were sisters and sometimes they used to interchange each other's names and call. When she got her show, I called her up to wish her good luck and this time, it was she who called me up and gave the news that I was confirmed for the show even before I knew it. We still call each other whenever we get time.

Message to your fans?
I just want to tell them that please continue loving me the way you have always been and please watch the show.

How are you planning to celebrate your birthday?
I have been in Mumbai for the past six years but never really cared to celebrate it on a grand scale. This time however I am throwing a party for all my friends and colleagues at an ice-bar. This will be my first birthday in Mumbai when I am actually throwing a lavish bash. I have been busy all these years as everytime I was shooting for two shows at the same time. This is for the first time I am doing only one show and so have time to celebrate my birthday

How do you start your day on your birthday?
I pray on a daily basis irrespective of the fact that if its just another day or my birthday. But yes on my birthday, I go to a nearby temple to pray and seek blessings from the Almighty. I then leave for my work which is followed by a party with my friends.

Which has been your best birthday till date?
All my birthdays have been special and memorable for me right from my birth till date. I still chersish those birthdays when my parents used to celebrate it for me and there would be a cake-cutting ceremony amidst my school friends. I am looking forward to having loads of fun this birthday too.

What's been the best gift you have received till date?
I have bought myself a MacBook this birthday and think it's my best birthday gift so far.

A celebrity you wish to celebrate your birthday with?
Scarlett Johansson, Katrina Kaif or Penelope Cruz whoever is free to come out with me.

Do you ever lie about your age?
Not at all. I am turning 29 tomorrow and I was born on 11 December, 1981.

Have you ever forgotten your close friend's or family members' birthdays?
Oh! Every year. I am a forgetful person and very bad with dates. All my friends and family members seem to have understood this disorder of mine and now have got accustomed to my habit of forgetting all the important dates.

Which is the best time of the year to have birthday?
Well, I think my birthday falls in the best month of the year. The climate across the globe is pleasing and the best. You can go anywhere in the world and would love the weather. This is the month when the whole world is decorated to bring in Christmas and New Years.
