Zee TV's Dil Se Diya Vachan, a remake of Tamil show Idhayam

Zee TV's Dil Se Diya Vachan, a remake of Tamil show Idhayam

Zee TV's new forthcoming show Dil Se Diya Vachan is a remake of the Tamil show named Idhayam

Film Farm Productions and Zee TV's forth coming show 'Dil Se Diya Vachan, is the show again with a Marathi Backdrop and has captured the slot of 7:00 PM and will telecast its episodes from 25th of this month.

The basic storyline of the show is about how a mother-in-law (Neena Gupta) stands by her daughter-in-law(Vandana Joshi) by supporting her in all the conditions, fulfilling her promises of being a mother. Though the storyline seems fresh by look, it's actually the remake of a Tamil show.

On the same, we asked the Producer Pintoo Guha about the remake and he was happy to say, "Yes, the show is a remake of a Tamil show called 'Idhayam' which airs on Sun TV."

Talking about the inspiration he further says, "Frankly speaking, content is something which makes the show work and even I have done the same. I got inspired by the content, therefore came up with the idea to make a Hindi version of it for the audience."

Talking about choosing Zee TV to air the show, he says, "I have a good rapport with Zee TV from many years, even in 1992 my name was present on the channel for the show called 'Saap Siddi'. So it was my pleasure to bring this show for Zee TV."

Shows on Marathi Backdrop are flooding on Indian Television and even Dil Se Diya Vachan is based on picturesque land of Pune. "There was no special reason to make the show with a Marathi Backdrop as the show could have been made in any lingo, but the channel wanted the show to be with this backdrop due to their slot and viewers. I just wanted the show to be done in a metro and not in a village," clears Pintoo.

The tradition of shows with Marathi Backdrop has started by Ekta Kapoor by remaking the very popular Tamil serial Thirumathi Selvam as 'Pavitra Rishta'. The gaining popularity of the show made other producers and channel to think on the same lines. Later on Imagine TV and UTV Telly Talkies joined hands to remake the Telugu serial named Rakht Sambandham as Rakht Sambandh. In the pipeline is Star Plus' and UTV's yet another remake of the Tamil show 'Kolangal'.

Let's see how far this show adds on the numbers to the channel with the content and Marathi Backdrop.

'I am not dating anyone' - Gaurav Khanna

'I am not dating anyone' - Gaurav Khanna

Gaurav Khanna, who will be essaying Prem in Zee TV's Dil Se Diya Vachan shares his experience about the show

TellyBuzz was the first to report about Gaurav Khanna entering a new show on Zee TV named 'Dil Se Diya Vachan'.

The talented actor will essay yet another chirpy role, and at the outset, Gaurav shares his feelings with TellyBuzz...

Gaurav tell us about your character in the show?
Well, my character is of crucial importance and being the lead of the show, the personality is very adorable. I am essaying the role of 'Prem' who is very lovable, a naughty guy who is very free with his parents, where he calls his dad as pops and mom as Momsi. He even teases his mom by saying, Hey Sexy! But on other hand he has complete respect for his parents. His parents also know about his mischievous behavior.

How far can you relate your off screen personality with your onscreen character?
Frankly speaking 60 % of the qualities from character Prem, matches with me as even I behave in the same manner with my parents. I keep my hand on my father's shoulder mischievously and make a deal or may simply have a funny talk.

What about the remaining 40%?
Well, there are few aspects of Prem which do not match with mine. That is something which makes me different than Prem. I don't agree with some portions of Prem.

How is your experience while working with the veterans?

It is good to work with such great personalities. Actually till now, I have been working with many new comers. For this show I am blessed to be in the midst of veteran actors, and I am happy to get them. Apart from being so senior to me they are very warm and down to earth, and I am impressed.

So do you take any kind of acting tips from them?
Yes, I do, even when I was working for my previous show, I used to ask for acting tips if I ever felt comfortable with a particular scene, and even here I do the same. I personally approach everyone and ask for some tips to improve. Not only the actors, but even if viewers don't like anything in my acting, they can send their tips for me. I am happy to follow those tips. I would be always ready to learn more for my acting.

How is your off screen chemistry with the lead Vandana Joshi?
It is fun, we both share a good rapport and as I said, I have always been launched with new comers. Even here, my co-actor is a new face to the acting world, so we both share acting tips and discuss.

If not acting what would you choose as a career?

I was approached by a producer in a gym, when I was working hard for my M.B.A exams. So if not acting I would have been a businessman. Actually I had many plans for my career, but my destiny brought me to this field.

Can you elaborate on the history of being approached in a gym?
(Laughs), well I was working out in a gym when a Producer thought I was a model and he gave me the proposal of acting in his show. During that time I was studying and I thought it to be a nice chance to earn and learn because I wanted money for my M.B.A studies. This is how I entered the industry.

So now would you like to go back again to be a businessman, leaving acting industry?
Who says that an actor can't be a businessman? I can simultaneously do well with my acting and the business which I choose. There are many such actors who have their own business and are doing well equally in their acting careers too.

If given a chance would you step into Bollywood?
Actually I have plans to step into Bollywood, but the thing is that before going to Bollywood, I want to justify myself on small screen. Once I get more popular with small screen and my acting, I will surely give it a thought to enter Bollywood.

Tell us about your fan following?
I totally respect fans as they are the ones who make normal persons a celebrity. They are the ones because of whom we get popular. Fans are very intelligent as they know where and how to behave with the celebrity. They don't get crazy behind actors as they used to do before.

Are you dating someone, when will be the right time to get married?
No, I am not dating any one right now and I have no plans to get married soon. May be after 2 years I will plan to get married. But as of now I have not given it a thought.

What kind of a girl do you want?
I want a simple, independent and a working girl. Apart from all this I should not forget to say that she should be a good cook in the first place.

Any message to your fans!
I would love to wish all my fans and readers a happy Navratri. Thanks for loving me.

My mother was ecstatic... Neenaji was to play my mother-in-law : Vandana Joshi

Dil Se Diya Vachan is Zee's latest offering, a show that explores the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship but in a positive light. The channel is also ready to launch another fresh face who happens to be Vandana Joshi, yet another Dance India Dance 2 contestant. The makers have also roped in veteran Neena Gupta to essay the part of the doting mother-in-law while Gaurav Khanna plays Prem, her handsome son. TellyChakkar spoke to Vandana to know more…

DID seems to have become the stage for budding actors?
Yes, we are part of the Zee family and there is a contract too.

What were you up to post DID?
After DID, I was doing shows and also did a few dance workshops.

How did the show come about?
I am in a contract with Zee, so the production people got in touch with me through them. They had liked a couple of my acts in DID, I auditioned for them and I got through. For me, education was always my second priority. Extra-curricular things attracted me more, so I have always beensinging, dancing and acting in school. But luckily, Dance India Dance happened first and now, this show.

So dancing takes a backseat now?
Yes, sadly it will. But I hope Nandini (her character in the show) gets a chance to dance soon too (laughs).

Were you keen on a fiction show after DID?
I didn't want to be a choreographer as such. I see myself more on stage; I would rather be on stage than behind it. I like choreography not as a profession. I was always interested in acting so when this show was offered I agreed.

So was Dance India Dance a step towards it?
No. DID has always been my dream! I wanted to be in DID, that's it. It wasn't a step towards acting because both are separate for me.

Do you think the participation in such reality shows is now more about the 'perks' associated with the show, and less for winning?
I don't know about others but for me it was about winning but when I got voted out, I still didn't mind because by then I had got so much exposure, had learnt so many styles and had such good opportunities to learn under my mentor, Terence Lewis. So I had gathered and learnt a lot to be disheartened. But, yes the perks come automatically.

Tell us a bit about your background?
I am from Delhi. Apart from my parents, I have two sisters who are married. One's in the UK and the other one's in Delhi. I am alone in Mumbai.

Were your parents comfortable with the idea of you acting?
Initially they weren't so supportive when I joined DID or when I took up dancing professionally. But then they were alright after DID happened. They were happy about the Zee family and now that I am part of it, they have no issues.

Tell us a bit about your character in the show?
Nandini is an introvert and a shy character because she lives with her married sister's family because they don't have parents. She knows her limit, loves everyone, and respects her family. She loves Sumati, who's her best friend and also her brother-in-law's sister.

Any kind of grooming for the role?
No, not really. Dancers have to express so some part of acting comes to you.

The show is set against the backdrop of a Maharashtrian family; did you face any difficulties picking up the accent?
Since my surname is Joshi, a lot of people thought I am a Maharashtrian but am a Punjabi. Now I understand Marathi because it has been six to seven months now. It is not a difficult language to understand though the pronunciation is slightly tough now.

Were you scared initially what with your-co-stars being all seasoned actors?
Yes because I am a newcomer but then they were very warm towards me. They gave me tips that actually helped me a lot with my performance.

How is your rapport with Neena Gupta?
Neenaji is very nice. She is the way she is on screen, down to earth and sweet. My mother used to love her in Saans and was ecstatic to know that she will be playing my mother-in-law. It's a pleasure working with her.

How has it been working Gaurav?
Gaurav is a fun loving person. We are both Punjabis. We have fun, keep taunting each other.

Are you in touch with any of your DID contestants?
Yes, I am in touch with most of them like Shakti, Kruti, Amrita and Mayuresh.

Zee TV fulfills Vandana Joshi's dream

MUMBAI: Zee TV's latest offering Dil Se Diya Vachan will see yet another Dance India Dance contestant getting her big break in the small screen, after Binny Sharma (DID finalist) who plays the female lead in Zee TV's primetime show "Sanjog Se Bani Sangini". Delhi based girl, Vandana Joshi, a contestant of Dance India Dance is slated to play the female lead in Dil Se Diya Vachan.

Dil Se Diya Vachan is a beautiful story about the relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Vandana will be playing the role of Nandini, the female protagonist of the show. She is a girl of few words and it takes her a while to open up to people. Sukesh Motwani, Programming Head- Fiction, Zee TV said, "Nandini is not the usual protagonist and the character had to be played by someone who is mature, grounded, practical, sincere and very dedicated in real life. Vandana fits the bill very well as we have seen the above mentioned qualities in her during her stint at DID."

Vandana was quoted saying, "I Want to be a successful stage performer. If I am lucky, I will be an actress." Well Vandana, lady luck is indeed smiling on you and your dream is fulfilled! Vandana says, "Dance India Dance had changed my life and the offer to play the lead role in a serial is like a dream come true. My passions in life have always been dancing, performing on stage, traveling and learning new things. I am sure acting in a serial will fulfill all these passions. I have had the opportunity to showcase my dancing skills on stage and this time the actor in me will come alive."

Today, reality show contestants are not only getting a worthy platform to showcase their talent but also being noticed by the who's who of the industry, who are giving them their big break in the industry. Recent examples where Zee TV reality show contestants have bagged offers are Dharmesh Yelonde, Kamal Khan and Raja Hasan in Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan as choreographer and singers and Binny Sharma and Vandana Joshi in Zee TVs primetime serials. So even after the end of a reality show season, "The show still goes on" for a lucky few.

Watch out for "Dil Se Diya Vachan" on Zee TV.

The plot dwells on the basic premise of a beautiful bond shared between the Kalyani and her daughter-in-law (Nandini), rather than focusing on "melodrama, which has been done to death in Hindi GECs," the channel claims in a release. "It's a far cry from kitchen politics and in-laws afflicting torture," it said.

Actor - producer, Neena Gupta will essay the role of Kalyani and Vandana Joshi from Zee TV'sDance India Dance Season 2 will portray the role of Nandini. The cast also includes actor Ayub Khan.

Jhumkas That Refuse To Fall

25 Oct, 2010

Abigail Jain (enacting the role of Sumati in 'Nihar Almond Hair Oil Dil Se Diya Vachan') had to accompany the team of Nihar Almond Hair Oil Dil Se Diya Vachan to buy Jhumkas for the show and while trying out the chosen pair; it just would not stay on her ears for a split second. The cast, crew as well as the shop attendants laughed their guts out watching the repeated jhumka falling fiasco. Finally the chosen pair was bought and the shoot began.

Well the twist in the tale is that the scene required the jhumkas to actually fall off from Vandana Joshi's ears, who plays the role of Nandini, and without revealing the storyline all I can say is that its an important part of the story where Cupid strikes and the lead protagonists Nandini & Prem (played by Gaurav Khanna) meet for the first time. But as the adage goes, "Things don't go wrong, they just happen". The Jhumkas that just wouldn't stay on the ears during trial refused to fall off Vandana's ears...no amount of jerks, prods or vigorous tilts made the earrings kiss the ground.

The director was in splits and Nandini was at her wits end as she had no idea how to execute the scene. To add on to her woes, when the jhumkas did fall, the cameraman did not have his camera on thinking that its one of those rehearsals. Well after much hullabaloo, the jhumkas finally did fall, much to everybody's relief and the scene was canned!

Diwali is one of the most auspicious and much-awaited of all the festivals and is celebrated with great pomp and fervor. It means following the beautiful traditions and rituals which are followed by most of us. We caught up with our popular television hotties to know about the special traditions they follow…

Gaurav Khanna- I always make sure that I celebrate the festival with my parents. We do the Laxmi-puja together usually by dipping a silver coin in the milk, which is considered to be very holy.
