There's no need to target fans of actors and drag them into the discussion. I am not a fan of HC, KVB, or SJ. I followed the show from the start. What am I to be targeted as? It will be better if we don't drag actors into the discussion either. I could mention a major flaw in the way KVB has handled his character, but I'm not interested in inciting his fans. I'm just interested in making my point and I suggest that we keep actors and fans out of it.
It's not viewers that are stuck -- it's the creatives that are stuck on V. If they'd progressed beyond their obsession with retaining the abuser and promoting him, then maybe viewers wouldn't have such a big issue with the show's moral standing and content today. If they'd actually focused on Jahnvi's narrative rather than V's narrative, promoted her, shown her journey toward liberation from her abuser and past, and sustained it, then maybe viewers wouldn't have such a big issue right now.
The warning bell rang in my head in April when the montage changed to a supersized V, Jahnvi only a miniature figure standing in the bottom along with Raghav. So please. Glorifying V has been the norm of the creatives and their show and still is. It's only natural that people point it out when it exists and dictates the show.
Regarding justifying V...
They brushed every filthy deed of his under the carpet, allowed him to escape his actual punishment, erased his memories and made him out to be an innocent boy. What would you call that?
Now they want to use Raghav/Sia and God and V's "innocent mind" to make him likeable. What do you call that?
Should I point out, once again, all the things he's done and how he hasn't felt remorse for any of it in the 200+ episodes of his character's existence. And now this shock treatment is supposed to be a miraculous cure, and when he wakes up from Baby World he will be miraculously cured from psychopathy and his manipulative nature -- completely reformed with a conscience. Is that it?
What a wonderful message on a show that preached about being the voice of victims, not abusers.
Thus we should all forget how he raped, sexually assaulted, tortured [physically as well as emotionally], kidnapped, attempted several murders, stabbed his ex-wife and put her in a coma -- we should forget all of this and move on now because V doesn't remember it and he's been given shock treatment. Punishment over.
But I remember. And his victims remember. Scarred for life. And what I also remember is how V felt immense pleasure committing every deed.
Shock therapy is not Harry Potter's magic wand that provides a psychopath with remorse, a conscience. Redemption itself is a lifetime of making amends -- and not by being in the lives of your victims, but by staying far away from them with your sole purpose being the forgiveness of God. That's how I understand it, at least. The creatives, however, seemed to disagree with me. Obviously.
