[I changed the title - bec it may be a misleading]

Why are Viraj and Raghav simi

lar? AND EVERYTHING ELSE and SB.
Catchy title? Of course and I have finally found the answers... You must read on to know.

Please bear with me ' as this post is catered for both character and fan groups neutrally. I spent a whole day in research... and finally composed this post. If you have patience and a warm cup of tea..you will find this to be an interesting and informative read.

Viraj Dobriyal

An extra-ordinary(extraordinary) g.l.o.r.f.i.e.d character. I read and also wrote many comments on him, some filled with love and sympathy, some disturbing ' that people actually want to be like him. Many argue he is what he is due to his mental condition. (Which we thought is OCPD ). Some argue that he is a evil black hearted being.

So who is right? Inquisitive Carisma took it upon herself to do this research.

My break into this came from Joker. But Why?

We know KVB has a gothic style and you can see a lot of joker in Viraj even without the make up. I think it is a style that KVB incorporated into Viraj knowingly. Maybe he is a fan as we see he has also sketched a picture of joker in his set rest room. This is why KVB is perfect to play this role. And the actor is very very expressive adding his own personal touches as well and his self presentation as Viraj. Ironically Joker believes that Batman's true face is not as Bruce but Batman. In the case of Viraj too, the man we watched as a business tycoon was not his real face either.. what we will see on Monday where he will be transformed in, is his true identity... What he is inside will show on the outside. Viraj was never the man in the suit ' he has always been the man behind the mask. His alter ego stick was actually a reflection of his true inner sociopath evil self.

I'm sorry to say that Viraj is now standing at a place where there is no return.. no redemption but only self destruction.

What related him with joker... I did my research on joker and his personality traits and mental condition which surprisingly ditto's Viraj's.

J was a Schizophrenic/ Sociopath and V is a (OCPD/ PSYCHOPATH/) Sociopath.

J has no personal loyalties, no conscience and a believed to be atheist with no morals or respect for laws to restrain him. Ditto for Viraj.

J's toys batman and Viraj's Jahnvi mostly. They will terrorize but not kill them. Although J hates BM and Viraj thinks he loves Jahnvi.. But the truth is that they both want to control their toys. (BM and J not dropping their humanity to avenge is to not go down to their enemies level .. it is not their weakness).

J and V are Sadomasochists whom enjoy inflicting pain on others. V does it more to avenge.

It's being born without a conscience. Some symptoms are high self esteem, low anxiety, stress, impulsiveness, a sense of entitlement, low empathy, shallowness, a superficial charm, pathological liar often making up stories where they are the hero ' (my mother Geeta left me), manipulative, cruel and gets delight from hurting others.

Sociopaths blend in easily with everyone else mostly, because they are great at hiding their weakness , due to their fakeness. Most sociopaths do not go to be mass murderers... which indicates some do.. but are generally @#*$%.

Sociopaths are untreatable and incurable. Attempts at curing them only leads to them getting better at masking it. They themselves don't think they have a problem, they feel everyone else should bend to them.

Most bullies on the contrary to popular belief do not actually have low self esteem but are in fact sociopaths with higher than average high self esteem.

SOCIOPATHS WILL COMMIT THE SAME CRIMES AGAIN AND AGAIN EVEN IF THEY ARE CAUGHT AND PUNISHED. When caught they will charm their way out promising to change. But they will slide back into the same pattern. BUT A SOCIOPATH HAS NO REAL REGRET OVER HURTING PEOPLE OR BREAKING RULES.

Sociopaths are incapable of establishing lasting relationship with others.

Sociopaths excuse and rationalise their own behaviour, putting blame on other people.

Hare & Schalling 1978 research suggests sociopaths are remarkably tolerant of electric shock and hence can pass a lie detector test easily.

Anti hero's like joker and serial killers are admired and thought of as cool. They are admired for being able to 'act' or do whatever they want and believe despite societies pressures. In Viraj's case also the ability of him getting away with everything.. also is a part of this.

Here people should see the difference between such villains and vigilante. Vigilante are people who may not always stick by the right side of law and are heroes like Robin hood, Batman and RAGHAV. (Will come back to Raghav in a bit).

Why are Viraj and Raghav similar?

Lykken's theory (Heroes and Sociopaths are a form of anti ' social personality type). The hero and the sociopath are twigs of the same branch. He speculates that child rearing practices of the parents are critical to determining which branch a child will take. Parents who emphasise punishment are likely to raise a sociopath, the fearless child who does not care about punishment. Parents who set a positive example & emphasise love might raise a hero given the same baby.

So you all remember that promo? "Kya yeh hai Sia ka Raghav- Ya phir ek aur Viraj?

To summarise their similarity. They are both fearless and come from the same anti-social personality types ' One is a hero the Vigilante (Robinhood 'Batman types) and the other a sociopath the villain. The similarity ends at Anti-social personality type which makes them both fearless.

Back to Viraj

Now is this CV's blooper? We now know what sociopath's are like, we know they are untreatable and incurable. But what is unclear is that we know Viraj believes in punishing for what he feels is wrong... so obviously this trait is something he's faced in childhood. BUT by which set of parents? The Dobriyals? As per Komolika they were good ' so realistically they should have raised a Hero. Or was it his father Mr Sharma? That would then explain why he turned into a sociopath.

Viraj's case is a case of misfortune to be cursed with such a mental disorder. BUT we cannot expect others to compromise their life or themselves to aid him. We can only hope that maybe people like him can find a religion possibly which will show them the correct path give them peace ' which may raise some humanity in them.

Raghav ' What's not to love about Raghav.

My initial thoughts on HC's ' A incredibly romantic hero. How will he stand up against The Viraj The Dobriyal? But he threw me off ' He was brilliant!

The story wasn't just about R and V faceoff (Which no doubt has always been exceptional and hats off to both HC and KVB).

DSDDSB ' Has utilised well HC's natural attributes ' which are his cuteness, politeness, romanticism, expressions, Emotional emoting ability. Non can play a perfect Raghav ' just like non can play a perfect Viraj like KVB.

So Raghav is the hero, the clean hearted, selfless and caring human being and a saviour. He is the rare gem of a man ' if he knocks on your door with a wedding proposal ... you could not say no because simply you'd have no reason or excuse to fault him. So what is it about this character that some people hold objections for? (Discussion only ' please no fighting and bashing each other).

My argument and analysis for any character has not been to credit my self esteem of being right. My analysis have been to learn and understand the characters before us. Finally I feel satisfied with the answers I have got with my today's research.

There are arguments over 1st and 2nd lead etc. The CV's and actors would have been aware of the concept and their roles. Whether a lead came first or second, their part would have been scripted before the show went on air.

I am now certain the theme had been decided for he leads is Anti-social personality type.. One is a Vigilante and the other a Sociopath. This is the reason which is now clear as to why the villain is blacker that black and the hero is whiter than white. Hence none of the characters are or can be grey shaded. One is a FEARLESS REAL VILLAIN and the other is a FEARLESS REAL VIGILANTE.

My feelings

I'm not perfect, Viraj and his case was new and fascinating for me (I do not feel that he is a OCD and OCPD affected patient ' I feel he is a Sociopath).

Some people tagged me as two faced for liking Viraj and Raghvi. I am not a piece of literature or a material of study to care about being judged, those who know me.. know me and those who don't.. don't. But after Raghav's entry in the show it would be hard not to adore a character like his. But now I feel clear for myself and finally for me the concept is more clearer.

Moral of the post

It's now obvious that the CV's never intended for a redemption for Viraj and many whom hoped in the past for Rajvi to work together have realised that this wasn't meant to be. Jahnvi deserves better than to be held back by a sociopath who will only self destruct and destroy her too.

Fans of Viraj and Jahnvi may feel cheated by the CV's, because they expected in the past that Viraj might change and the power of marriage might save their relationship. If Viraj wasn't what he is then things could have been good. My VM's were a reflection of their dreams of what could have been, but never will be. ViraanVI is a broken dream.

Viraj Glorification.

The character of joker that Viraj actually is, may be appreciated in a 3 hour movie in a different country but in a daily soap involving domestic violence was not apt. Naturally people have enjoyed watching joker ' but watching a abusive husband pulling a joker style is harsh on the viewers. I myself cannot watch this show everyday.. and have to catch up in bulk. It is disturbing. Maybe they chose this theme to make women more alert on acting quicker in DV cases rather than later. A shock treatment to the system effect.

CV's created this blooper of mixing a Sociopath ' with style in the track with domestic violence. This has caused a turbulence amongst viewers... bec they all started supporting different things.

The audience failed to realise what Viraj was and the glorification must have caused some uncomforting within the creatives where they introduced the dual Viraj to help see inside his mind. It seems that also failed and in the end they have gone to the extreme and transformed Viraj VISUALLY to make certain amongst the audience Viraj's true nature.

Goodluck to Raghvi

Knowing this.. I hope we can wish for Sia finding happiness with Raghav. Because Viraj is not the man that Sia can take down alone. Someone as fearless as Raghav is needed to stop Viraj. I'm looking forward to see Sia and Raghav marriage... and I hope they show what a marriage should really be like.

Disclaimer ' No offence intended at anyone or character/actor.

I hope from here on if you agree with this research analysis ' that we will know how and where things may stand. I hope everyone can stop fighting and understand each other better. I've found the closure I needed for my own peace of mind. I don't think now - I'll have anything else to add to this forum.

Nice essay Cari ! Lol !

Updated:

The joker isn't necessary at all . OCPD people don't even act like that . They've made a complete joke out of this ! I don't care if KVB is a good actor, in my view, whatever has been happening lately, is really goofy, especially with Viraj's character . They've ruined it for good ! As soon as Sia slapped Viraj & said all those things to him, that's where Viraj should have at least done something, not act more & more crazy . Everyone is born with a conscience, but people just like to take advantage of these kinda things & act like they don't know what the hell is the differrence between right & wrong .

Yea, sociopaths are untreatable & incurable, because it's in their blood, it's what they grew up learning, it's what they grew up doing, but I believe in miracles . Watch Criminal Minds ! You'll see how low people can go ! Why do I feel like this show is copied off from a cartoon show now ? 😆

Raghav's family was not needed in the show . It makes no sense whatsoever .

& I think we all know how Viraj & Raghav are similar ! Lol !

We cannot say anything about Viraj's past, because nothing has been revealed to us yet .

I have to disagree thou . I think any guy can play Raghav's role, but Viraj ? Only KVB !

I don't feel that Viraj is an OCPD patient either...well not anymore . Thanks to CV's !

Don't care about Raghav-Sia marriage ! As if we don't see stuff like this in Indian dramas ! 😆

Just want them to end the show asap !

Watching joker is ok when we were kids, but not in a show where it deals with DV & OCPD . It doesn't get in the head !

Hey Cari,

Feels wonderful to 'speak' to you again. I am totally off the DSDDSB - the show and the forum. Both are too stressful for me. Watching this show is like watching Tees Maar Khan, again and again and again.🤢.

The Cvs have put themselves in a spot. Their idea of the second lead that would give a second lease of life to the show simply did not take off. The primary reason is that they made Raghav similar to Viraj. Haunted by past and full of psycho hang ups. Raghav should have been a sunshine character. Infusing oxygen to the show. He did not do that.He and his family added a pall of gloom to the already heavy atmosphere.

The less I talk about Sia, the better. She has been portrayed as woman without a mission. A fatal flaw as far as Hindi shows are concerned. We appreciate Heroes or Heroines who think beyond their personal benefit or gratification. Jahnvi was tortured.Yes. But the Cvs could not elevate her status as a martyr. A big mistake.

Viraj. The Cvs have a hot potato in their hands. They can't hold him steadily. They can't afford to drop him. Tch..Tcchh..

Milli, good to see you back on the forum. I agree with what you said.

If the CVs really wanted to show a contrast between Viraj and Raghav then they would have done exactly what you said. Make Raghav the total opposite to Viraj. If the CVs wanted a character that will help Jhanvi through this phase, they should have created a character full of life. Not a character who has his own problems to deal with, thus making him brooding and stern (and boring, might I add!)

Instead, Raghav has way too many similarities with Viraj. How did Jhanvi find solace in him? I don't understand. Now don't tell me because since he's the "good" guy, all his actions will be seen as just. He's done some pathetic stuff and stuff that is strikingly similar to Viraj. How could Jhanvi not make out the difference? 🥱

They only added his family and his backstory to make him a "complex" character, which they failed at. I have said in another topic, adding all these unnecessary stuff to the show to give its side characters some layers brought the show's quality down. They should not be focusing on other characters that bring absolutely nothing to the show.

What was the need to add another character who has some kind of depressing backstory when they have Viraj's past? What was the friggin' point? How does another person's backstory regarding someone's death make sense in regards to domestic violence, the concept of this show?

Jhanvi or Sia, whatever. She is really quite pathetic. I don't see how survivors of domestic violence will gain any inspiration from her.

As for Viraj, they won't remove him. He is the main asset to this show so I don't think the CVs will try and lessen his importance. He's a character the CVs can do a lot with (and is actually important to the story) but aren't because they are too busy trying to focus on the other characters and their problems/emotions. 🥱

Hi Cari..loved ur post...i too love both of them...love their performance...wht matters to me...that they both do justice to wht they are given to portray...wht they should have been and wht they r nt...i totally leave it to the Cvs ..coz they are the one creating the characters...actors are just performing it...if we hate viraj and love raghav...it means we like the actors playing the characters respectively...and thats wht Cvs want us to do...hate viraj, love raghav..appreciate all the performers...without any of the three leads...the show would hav been incomplete...after all who wants to see a show where all thats shown is the wife getting beaten..and no one is there to give her support and strength to fight back!

Wow Cari nice post and bang on Research results!! You got me hooked and I couldn't stop reading! You certainly put a lot of effort in this research because I just realized many things by just reading this post that I hadn't realized before in the show, like the sociopath thing. Now I realized that you are absolutely correct. V isn't suffering from OCPD or whatever disease he was supposed to have. He's just a sociopath who is using this disease as an excuse! Actually, he's making people believe he has OCPD just to fool them! Another thing is that I like how Raghav isn't portrayed as the "perfect" human being because that would be plain old FALSE! There is no such thing as the "perfect" man or woman, except V who thinks that about himself. So if the CVs showed Raghav with no flaws whatsoever, then how can he save Sia because he himself isn't human?

Again, wonderful post Cari 👏

By all means, I am incredibly attracted to MB and HC .. Cant stop loving them.. I agree they both are extra-ordinarily strong.. And add sexy hehehe..

Agree with the part too.. I dont expect Jhanvi to be back to Viraj The Dobriyal.. Raghav is perfect for her.. 👍🏼 Fearless and dabang 😆..

Jhanvi or Sia, Viraj-Raghav totally steal the show ! Generally I dont like extreme good or bad characters.. I loved Viraj cuz he was not portrayed as a villain, but he had a grey shade.. Now I think which is totally lost.. They have Viraj 1000% negative to glorify Raghav's goodness..

So atm, none of the characters are gelling well with me.. LOL.. Watching it only for MB and HC !
