She simply decides one day, enough is enough and ends up burning him:~ i thought that was a brilliant move LOL.. and then those prison ladies hellping her with her appeal then finally she gets let out of jail:) What she did was self defence, she never should have been jailed in the first place.

I wonder what Jhanvi will do to teach Viraj a lesson:s

Yup, I have seen the moview more than once, it was recently televised here in the US during Christmas break. Aishwarya did a good job so did Nandita Das. But I was not sure why Nandita had to dress like that, her get up was horrible.

I agree that I too thought of Provoked at the first look at this serial. May be that is what they serial might turn out to be. The only way this kind of men can be treated are with therapy. This seems to be a serious mental illness which needs cycotheraphy. He needs medical help to get over his childhood abuse.

true this show is a bit different in the sense that viraj has a mental condition whereas the husband in the movie had no mental conditions he was just a uptight ass.

I had an inkling it's following the paths of Provoked. Especially after the pregnancy. But in the movie, the husband's love diminishes. I don't think Viraj's "love" will go away as he is too obsessed. Though I hope that Viraj is punished somehow..

no unfortunately it is not an adaptation...in that movie the man who beats his wife is not cunning, witty or powerful like this guy, this show is almost like a weird thriller!

I did not watch that movie yet , if Aishwarya done that in movie provoked she done good job in my opinion , To my mind she should have done that only the moment first time she got abused\beaten . i Wish Jhaanwi too does same with Viraj in Show...
If i get such husband in my life , for sure i will do that ... can't endure such moron.

^^one will not murder someone so easily, it is not justified, in the movie's case it had been ages, it had started affecting Aishwarya mentally, she could not see any escape, and she actually ended up killing him by accident!
