I have different opinion about this..
Love as the basis of marriage is just recent phenomena in all human societies. For all these years arranged marriages was norm and it worked very well for the societies. Even today in India ppl get married through arranged marriage and they r not hopelessly in love with each other when they get married. I believe trust, frienshsjip, companionship and compatibility is much more important to live with the person than love. People can hate me for saying this but love is really an excagerated thing. It's unideal and romanticized so much nowadays.
Yes today societies are changing and so called love is becoming basis for marriage. But wat is definition of love itself. It differs from person to person. It's very subjective wat love is then how can anyone quantify and decide Whether it is true love or not . There is nothing like true love but just differnt perceptions of love. For someone friendship can be love or more than love as it is shown in ADHM movie.
Yes it's a show and we all want leads to love each other and then get married. But I believe mutual compatibility and friendhship as a base of marriage is equally strong as someone's love. And arranged marriages in India are good examples to prove this point.
Here Ananya somehow believe ritwik will start loving her but I think she is also ok with friendship loyalty as basis of marriage. She said clearly she doesn't want rotwik to love anyone else means the basis is loyalty for her. Maybe love is loyalty in her definition. I personally don't see anything wrong in marrying someone for other reasons than love as love is just vague concept which can't be quantified or defined.
