Though my second language was Hindi...and I was very good with grammar..
But as I am a Bengali...my Hindi pronunciation still has an accent...and people at times do make fun of it... but now I am okay about it

I am from Bihar and have been in Bihar Jharkhand till my engineering and I do use words like Hum for me, alaawe (people commonly say Alaawa ) etc. for informal communication. Although being from ICSE board my English n Phonetics is pretty decent (if 94 percentile in CAT is any proofđ) n luckily I never had any stage fear, the people here did make fun of my Hindi for the words I mentioned, n I mean my friends but I never took this seriously, my simple answer was if your Hindi has Marathi influence (like saying native n gaon, peas as Vatana etc.) Why wouldn't my Hindi have the influence of Bhojpuri?
When a British tries to speak in broken Hindi you get awed but when a Bhojpuri speaking person tries to speak in broken Hindi you start mockingI have been here for 2 years now n I am not willing to change as that's my identity n the people who earlier mocked me are now accustomed to it

Agreed!
I am also from Bihar! *Hi five*
Some of my cousins have have problem. Actually 80 85% people in Bihar have problem in speaking S and Sh. (Though I don't have )
But it's fine! No big deal!
Even I use 'hum' for me when I talk to them.
I like the maithili touch in their hindi.
And I was going to give the same example u gave. When any foreigner tries to speak in Hindi then they are cute and If any bihari or maithil person tries to speak in english or even in hindi then they are gawar!
What a logic!
But then,
*Kuch to log kahenge, logon ka kam hai kehna*
