I am from UP living in Maharashtra. So like Gauri, I too have problem with speaking 's' for 'sh'. I was teased in school, junior college and graduation college due to this with some even trying to correct me. Some North Indian people do have pronunciation problems. Sometimes, I would feel sad due to this and get nervous to talk before presentation. Now I have improved a little and hope to fully improve soon.

Sorry for boring you with this post but seeing Gauri I am reminded of myself. Some people here say that Gauri should learn to pronounce properly and Om should teach her. But guys, it's not very easy. I took so many years to improve a little. So don't expect Gauri to improve in few days.

Hmm achcha.. I can completely understand.. One's accent cant change overnight..
And what has love to do with how the way a person speaks.. ? if this is true then Shivaay's earlier thoughts on status and class of a people are also justified that One should not fall in love with a person who does not belong to an equal status..
Love is an emotion and Omkara will definitely never mind Gauri's 's' and 'sh' wala pronunciation..

and every person is not perfect.. people do have some flaws in them.. even Om was a drug addict earlier..
So I, for one, is not at all expecting gauri to change.. I love the way she is and Om too will do the same, i guess.

Thanks for sharing your memories with us..
You dont have to correct your pronunciation if you are uncomfortable with it.. Whats with people! They will tease for some time and then they will forget..
You know even I am like priyanka (from IB).. I get nervous often especially during speeches or Group discussions or seminar.. Stage Phobia you know..😆 and then i forget most of the things which i had prepared and start stammering just like Prinku😆 (although she is too much.. she has to take medicines too to calm down her tensed nerves.. I m suffering much lesser than she has been doing) its embarrassing for me too.. The whole day I remain fine but god knows what happens to me just before the presentation .. I get so much tensed and nervous before any speech that I cant explain what kind of fear goes through my heart.. With great difficulty i gather courage and confidence😆

So just leave it.. what can we do about our shortcomings? Its a part of us..

even my hindi during my childhood days was terrible.. it was actually a mixture of bengali and hindi😆😆 but gradually as i grew up, i became fluent with the language as i had quite a few hindi speaking people in my friends' group..

Thats not a big deal in fact almost 80% of the people who live in states like MP UP BIHAR suffer from this issue which is also known as MTI ie mother tongue influence I belong to mp studied in convent still I faced the similar issue anyways these things are just futile.
N majority living in north faces the issue leaving few states like delhi n all.

I am from Bihar and have been in Bihar Jharkhand till my engineering and I do use words like Hum for me, alaawe (people commonly say Alaawa ) etc. for informal communication. Although being from ICSE board my English n Phonetics is pretty decent (if 94 percentile in CAT is any proof😆) n luckily I never had any stage fear, the people here did make fun of my Hindi for the words I mentioned, n I mean my friends but I never took this seriously, my simple answer was if your Hindi has Marathi influence (like saying native n gaon, peas as Vatana etc.) Why wouldn't my Hindi have the influence of Bhojpuri?
When a British tries to speak in broken Hindi you get awed but when a Bhojpuri speaking person tries to speak in broken Hindi you start mocking

I have been here for 2 years now n I am not willing to change as that's my identity n the people who earlier mocked me are now accustomed to it

Agreed!
I am also from Bihar! *Hi five*
Some of my cousins have have problem. Actually 80 85% people in Bihar have problem in speaking S and Sh. (Though I don't have )
But it's fine! No big deal!
Even I use 'hum' for me when I talk to them.
I like the maithili touch in their hindi.
And I was going to give the same example u gave. When any foreigner tries to speak in Hindi then they are cute and If any bihari or maithil person tries to speak in english or even in hindi then they are gawar!
What a logic!
But then,

Exactly even I don't have that problem but many do have which is perfectly fine, trying to learn the language great but feeling inferior due to lack of phonetics isn't needed at the end of the day language is just a means of communication n till the time you are able communicate your emotions you need not feel down or humiliated about you pronunciation

if u sound like Gauri i think u would sound very cute. i love how Gauri talks. sorry u were bullied though. those bullies where just jealous of u. i really think that the reason why ppl bully others is coz the other person has a quality that they dnt possess. so they want to bully them to take that quality out of them. bullies are just insecure ppl. and i dnt think that Gauri needs to change in anyway. i think that Om is gona love the s and sh soon.
