After Shah Rukh Khan he is probably the only actor who floors both the mothers and daughters with equal ease. Ask this to the cute Rajat Tokas and he blushes. "I don't know but the letters I get from my female fans make me feel that they think I am old enough to feel the emotions I portray on screen." A student of Std. X at New Delhi's Hope Hall Foundation, R.K. Puram, 14-year-old Rajat is etched in public memory as young Prithiviraj Chauhan. Initia lly roped in by the Sagars for just three episodes, Rajat went on to play the character for 200 episodes. "My role was limited to the episodes where Prithiviraj learns to fire shabdbhedi baan and fights with the lion. But apparently the public liked me so much that the producers kept on increasing my role."

Maths rules

He might have done a historical but his favourite subject is mathematics. "I didn't read about Prithiviraj before enacting the role. I went by what my director told me. As I had no preconceived notions, I believe it brought spontaneity to my acting."

An above average student, Rajat says, "The kind of competition we have in academics these days, only the best get their chosen vocation. I felt I am good at acting so I should focus on it and keep the studies going."

However, because of the strenuous shooting schedules, Rajat admits he has missed out on studies. "I have a lot to catch up but I will manage. Now that my role in Prithvi is over, I am concentrating on studies. In the interim, I also missed out on celebrating my birthday. I want to spend some time with my family."

Good diet

As for his physique which makes him look older than his age, Rajat shares he doesn't exercise too much. "It is just the effect of milk and milk products."

Rajat avers fame hasn't changed him. "I am the same for my friends and family. But many others have changed towards me."

After the break, Rajat will soon be seen in another period-serial, "Dharam Veer".

The young Rajat Tokas had a bit of a bad luck recently when he was rehearsing for an action sequence for NDTV Imagine's Dharam Veer. It was a kick sequence and the guy he was rehearsing with turned around and gave a kick on Rajat's lower back. The kick was harder than expected and as a result, Rajat is on bed with a hairline fracture. He will be on complete bedrest for the next three weeks atleast. Well, guess Rajat will be out of action for quite some time, literally!

Prithvi Raj Junior Rajat Tokas in 'Dharam Veer'.

We are sure fans are missing 'Prithvi Raj' Rajat on the tube. Well, now you can breath a sigh of relief as the talented teenager will soon be seen on Star Plus.

After spending some time with his family in Delhi over his break, Rajat has now decided to get back to work and once again he has been picked for a historical series.

Rajat was a little confused while signing 'Dharam Veer' which is again of period genre as the actor didn't want to create stereotype for himself but, once he heard the script he was sure that audiences would love him in 'Dharam Veer' as well.

So Rajat went ahead with his decision which sure makes our Prithvi Raj 'Veer'.

Mughda Godse with Rajat Tokas AKA 'Prithvi Raj Chauhan'

He started with the epic 'Prithvi Raj Chauhan' at a young age of 12 years and Rajat literally grew up on screen as he has been playing Prithvi Raj for almost 5 years now.

As the show progressed so did Rajat and the teenager won millions of hearts with his talent, but all his fans were in a shock last week when the makers of the epic showed Prithvi Raj as a grown man now and of course ended up replacing Rajat.

Fans were angry as they have always seen Rajat in the character of Prithvi Raj and are not too happy that their star has been replaced. Angry mails and calls have been going to Ramanand Sagar Productions, the Producer of the show expressing the comeback of Rajat in the lead. (in the serial DharmVeer)

The story on the show has however; taken an age leap and the Producers feel that a 16 year old Rajat cannot justify the character of a 30 year old. Our advice is that maybe it's time for the Producers to checkout some Balaji soaps where it is not unusual to see a 20 year old play a 100 year old character.

Rajat Tokas's Comeback Show- Dharam- Veer

There is good news for Rajat's fans as their hero is making his come back on the small screen. After Rajat left "Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan" viewers were really missing him and wanted him back on the show. So Rajat Tokas made his come back not on the same show but another show by Sagar Arts. Rajat's new serial is "Dharam- Veer" which will be aired on NDTV Imagine, a new entertainment channel by NDTV network. The show will start from 21 january 2008 and will be telecasted at 8 pm from Monday to Friday. Dharam- Veer is also a periodic serial. The reports say that it is the remake of the hit movie "Dharam- Veer". In this movie Dharmender and Jitender performed the lead roles. It was a story of two princes who were twins. They got separated and brought up in different environments. As the both of them grow up they come close to each other as good friends. Then both of them faced the hardships of life and conflicts which threaten to shake the foundation of their strong bond. In this serial Rajat is accompanied by Vikrant Massey (Aamir of Dhoom Machao Dhoom). Mughda Chapekar (Sanyogita of Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan) is also on the show. So the viewers will again see the great couple of "……Prithviraj Chauhan" together.

MUMBAI: NDTV's upcoming Hindi general entertainment channel will hit the television screens on Monday 21 January from 7 pm onwards with a reality show Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan. NDTV Imagine has a line up of shows across genres ranging from light-hearted family soaps to period dramas and from music-based shows to the glamorous events of the industry.

For the new Hindi GEC on the block, its prime time weekday shows will run Monday through to Friday. NDTV Imagine will start its prime time at 7 pm with SOL's Nachle Ve… which according to NDTV Imagine programming head Shailja Kejriwal is a dance school coming to audiences.

"7 pm is the time when women and children can watch and learn dance at home in a simplified manner from Saroj Khan. It's like a dancing school coming to home," avers Kejriwal.

The half hour slot from 8 pm has been given to Sagar Art's Dharam Veer, followed by the celebrity reality show Say Shava Shava at 8:30 pm. Say Shava…, has two USPs to its credit - a continuous 11-day run and celeb judges Karan Johar and Simi Garewal together for the first time on the small screen.

Once it gets over, the shows like Radha Ki Betiyan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi (Monday), Ek Packet Umeed (Tuesday) Raajkumar Aaryyan (Wednesday) Dhoom Macha De (Friday and Saturday) will follow the same one hour time slot.

Imagine has given the 9:30 pm slot to the Sagar Arts' mythological Ramayan. The mytho that had television audiences spellbound 20 years ago is back, reconditioned and refurbished.

In weekdays at 10 pm Jassuben Jayantilal Joshi Ki Joint Family (Hats Off Productions) will be followed by Rajshri films' Main Teri Parchhain Hoon - a fiction based drama.

As reported already reported by Indiantelevision.com, weekends have been kept for films and event-based content. Additionally, the afternoon band has not been announced yet.

"We are concentrating on launching our channel. Once it establishes, we will introduce the afternoon band," says Kejriwal.

Here are some of the programs unveiled by NDTV as part of their Hindi entertainment channel.

Drama-
Dharam Veer (A Period Adventure) – A show about friendship, loyalty, rivalry creating innumerable adventures.

Ek Packet Umeed (A Drama) – A touching look at the individual lives and experiences of women who have fought adversity and have emerged winners.

NDTV Imagine has reportedly begun EPG testing on Sky Digital signalling a UK launch is imminent.

NDTV Imagine is NDTV Network's first general entertainment channel, which launched last month. The channel has been performing well with record launch ratings.

EPG data testing on Sky Digital are displaying programmes from NDTV Imagine.

EPG testing can be tuned in by following the steps below (audio and video testing soon):

-> Using your Sky Digi remote, go to Services Menu
-> System Setup (4)
-> Add Channels (4)
-> Enter the frequency: 11.342 (V), FEC 2/3, Symbol Rate 27500
-> Find Channels and Press SELECT
-> Highlight "52161" service and press Yellow button.
-> Return to Services Menu
-> Other Channels (6) on STB / (8) on Sky+
-> "52161" should be listed and available
