Congratulations on a very fitting farewell thread to DkDM
Although I had stopped watching this serial for the last 2 years, I did miss the beauty that the first 2 years of the show had. Having never watched Om Namah Shivaya but having followed mythos for a while, subjects being mainly Rama & Krishna, I was curious on how a serial on Mahadev would play out.
Despite my reservations about it (driven mainly by the changes of Parvati & Ganga), one thing I will say for DkDM - it stands head and shoulders above all contemporary mythos. Somehow, in my mind, when I think about Mahadev, Sati and Parvati, nobody can displace Mohit, Mouni and Sonarika from those spots. Other actors who I thought were outstanding were Surender Pal as Daksha, Pankaj Dheer as Himavan, Deepika Upadhyay as Ganga, Raj Premi as our dear Taki, Neha Marda as Vrinda, Piyush & Rubina as Rama & Sita and finally, the kids Kartikeya & Ganesh.
In course of the serial, I not only learnt a great deal more about Mahadev, Parvati, Ma Durga and others, but a lot of other background stories that completely shifted me to being an ardent Shaivya. The references to a whole bonanza of stories about Mahadev and those around him was really enlightening, and inspiring as well. A side effect though, was altering my opinions about other deities, who I won't name here 😈
The serial did a fantastic job in capturing the spiritual essence of the subject, which is more than can be said about most mythos these days. I guess all good things have to come to an end, but a part of me, knowing that Mahadev is immortal, wishes that this show was as well. So finally, the last of the shows that was launched with LifeOK comes to an end
As for the forum, I enjoyed it to the fullest, particularly in its early days. CNAT provided endless comic entertainment, as did the Doubts & Discussions threads. The forum celebrations of Mahadev's wedding to Parvati was memorable. Also, the forum did a great job in celebrating both Durga Puja and Ganesh Chaturthi in the years that it ran, completely overshadowing similar threads in other forums. Being here in those occasions felt like being with family 😳
I will miss this forum, having missed the show. Although I've been absent from it the last couple of years, it has actually given my my favorite moments in IF as long as I followed it.
I wish Mohit, Mouni, Sonarika, Deepika and others all success in whatever they choose to do going forward. And to everybody here in the DkDM forum, adios - maybe I'll catch up w/ yall again sometime.
