Misti, your comments are funny. I liked Rubina a lot though I too wish they would tone down her make up as she looks more pretty with less makeup. Still during the exile she would be shown with minimal makeup. So I am looking forward to that part.
I am actually liking this version of Ramayan. I was also thinking of Surya of Sita strolling with dhanush as a shopping bag. So Misti, as you said it is a shopping wallet for sure. Though I do have questions as to how she could get apples. Is Mithila in Himachal Pradesh? I thought it was in present day Madhya Pradesh.
Ok that aside, I was thinking of one thing. That Sita is so attached to that dhanush. So shouldn't she get mad at Ram for breaking Pinak before even Parshuram does? 😉
But jokes aside, I did like Janak and Sita conversation and Janak giving Sita the freedom to decide about her marriage. Also I liked Sita questioning that how only fulfilling Janak's requirement of bow will make the guy eligible for her.
All in all, a good introduction to Sita.

A portion of Mithila is in present day nepal .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mithila_%28Nepal%29
Janakpur is very near to that place ..they have built a spectacular Janaki mandir there .. Lots of tours/pilgrimages organised to Mithila, Muktinath, Pashupatinath, Shaligram in Nepal from India ..

Ok. I did not know this. I always thought that Mithila was in MP. Ok if it was in Nepal, then I can accept apples. Not that I minded seeing apples. I don't have problems with this much of creative license. I just liked Sita producing a dessert for all hungry kids this way.

@Angie, Sita would have not been the way they show her in all the Ramayan. Their must be some strength in her character, not to be confused with power of suffering. Being a princess, she is taught various arts. There must be a lot more to her then normally shown or written. Being incarnation of another form of Shakti, she can definately not be weak. Let's hope future epi. confirms this opinoin formed based on this epi.

So they can get apples.By the way how much did you get for history/geography in School? 😉 A part of Mithila is also in Bihar (northern Bihar just south of the border with Nepal). Maithali is the dialect and it is a major dialect in Bihar.

Mnx, Valmiki Ramayan shows Sita as a strong individual. Her going back to the earth was an act of defiance against the society. Only a strong character can do that. She could have easily gone back to the palace and lived with her husband/sons. But it would have been at the cost of her dignity and pride. She chose to take a different path.
If Kakayi could have known about martial arts, why could not Sita have done the same. She was a pampered daughter of a very learned and humble King Janank. Janak was quite liberal for his times and he encouraged debates etc. He adopted an unknown girl whom he found while plowing the land. So I can see him giving her freedom and her having her own opinions. I hope too that they show her a strong character than is normally seen.

Hello guys, read your comments and was glad to see that you also liked this version of Sita! i loved the fact she speaks her mind regarding marriage and is curious to c who is the groom,. that means shes not the classic obiedient, head down kid-princess..

The connection shown her & Ram is convincing too. I guess I may like this Ramayan.

Meenakshi frankly I am also not a great fan of Ramayan. Not only is it a sad story, I also do not like it for the tests that Sita has to undergo. I liked the way they depicted Sita and Ram today and on the basis of today's execution and characterisation, my interest has picked up regarding this version of Ramayan.
