Why does this not happen in western shows? I don't understand. All the American shows I have watched, British, Canadian shows...I have never seen a replacement. I have only seen replacements on soaps...yes...but never on prime time. If an actor really wants to leave and nothing can persuade them otherwise then usually the character is killed off or send away. Can you imagine in Game of Thrones Tyrion being replaced suddenly or pick your favorite character from any show...No it wouldn't happen. They would renegotiate the contract, raise the salary if needed to get the actor back (if nothing works, then they would kill the actor but not replace) because otherwise the show would suffer especially if the actor is a main actor and not side actors. It makes sense though because the audience gets attached to not just the character, but the face associated with the character and the acting of that actor thus you cannot just replace them midway. I will never understand why there are so many replacements in Indian tv shows...and then they just expect the viewers to be okay with it and continue watching as if nothing ever happened.
@Jankiraghunath,
I do not watch DKDM, know what is going in it only from written updates, so cannot comment on Mohit's or Sonarika's acting. However, let me comment on the man-woman issue you have pointed out. Can we say that Sonarika was paid less than Mohit simply because of being a woman? Or could there be some other reason? There could be different reasons:-1. Sonarika is a woman - this is the reason you are saying and I accept this is a possibility.2. Although Parvati is a Goddess in her own right, the show is primarily focused on Lord Shiv, who is being played by Mohit in the show.3. Mohit has more experience and/or has better acting skills than Sonarika - I am not claiming it. I am just asking if this could be a possibility. I really do not know how Mohit or Sonarika act.Suppose there is a show which is primarily based on a woman. Then could it not be possible that in that show the female lead will be paid more than the male lead?
