Also, is this the last we are seeing of Vishnu/Lakshmi, or will Saurabh continue to make cameo appearances here when needed? B'cos if this is the last of Vishnu/Lakshmi, then along w/ Saurabh, it would mean Ragini Deb's exit as well.

I thought that Ragini would have made a great Sita. Or she too could have gone to the Mahabharat and made a great Draupadi.

In the show they don't show Vaikuntha they show ksheeer sagar. there is a difference.

Isn't that the same thing? I always think of Vaikunta as Lakshmi and Vishnu sitting on Sesh Naag on the ksheer sagar.

This detail is explained clearly in the Valmiki Ramayana I got recently. How else could Parashuram and Ram, both incarnations of Vishnu, co-exist at the same time, if entire Vishnu came to Earth each time? It's illogical to think the Trimurti would ever leave their divine abodes.
So no, I don't think we'll be spared those scenes. 😆

We discussed this b4 in the Ramayan forum. Parashuram's avatar ended in 1 of 3 possible situations, even though he was immortal, thanks to his father's boon:
  • His encounter w/ Kashyap, where the latter ordered him to end his genocide and never rest on earth again
  • Birth of Rama
  • His encounter w/ Rama during the latter's return to Ayodhya after the wedding
Vishnu was not there at either Vaikuntha nor Ksheersagar (the 2 are different, as Viper said - Vaikuntha is his home, whereas Ksheersagar was where the manthan took place; Vaikuntha was guarded by Jaya & Vijaya). This is proved by Rama's encounter w/ Mahakal, when the latter went as the messenger of Brahma & the Devas. He told Rama that Vishnu was being missed at Vaikuntha, and requested him to end his avatar. Why would Vishnu be missed if he was always at Vaikuntha? Similarly, there are some stories of the devas asking Krishna to return to Vaikuntha, which would be needless if Vishnu was always there.

As for whether we'd be spared the scenes of Vishnu/Lakshmi being shown in Vaikuntha while Rama/Sita are active on bhulok, for this serial, it (thankfully) looks inevitable. Thankfully b'cos otherwise, it creates an impression that Rama/Sita were different from Vishnu/Lakshmi. In this case, since Saurabh would be busy in the Mahabharat, he can't spend much time in DkDM, but people wouldn't be wondering about Vishnu if Rama is being shown.

What I do wonder is whether Vishnu's role in this serial is largely over, except maybe occasionally for necessary cameo appearances. Like his commentary on what's going on in Kailash & elsewhere w/ Lakshmi & Narada (and lately, Brahma & Saraswati) is needless & distracting, but the events where his presence was necessary - like the samudra manthan, the Vrishabh avatar and Vrinda's curse - those are over. So unless they replace Saurabh & Ragini w/ Piyush Sachdev & Pooja Bose, chances are that they won't be showing Vishnu while Rama (and later, Krishna) is around. The other thing that strikes me is that if they replace Saurabh w/ Piyush as Vishnu, it would look weird if Sita & Lakshmi were played by different actresses, and equally weird if Ragini Deb had to leave just to make way for Pooja.

Anyway, let's see what they show

@Vrish,
My interpretation of the Mahakal scene is that the incarnation of Vishnu's amsa as Rama was over, so that is why Mahakal came to take him back. In the Baal Kand of Valmiki Ramayan, it says that different amsas of Vishnu were born as Ram, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughan. No where does it say Vishnu personally left Vaikunta and came to Earth as Rama.
It seems laughable to me that entire Vishnu would have to come to Earth to kill Ravan. His amsa was enough to do the work.
If we also take Shrimad Bhagawatham as reference, it lists 22 avatars of Vishnu, many of whom co-existed together. That would not be possible if he himself came to Earth each time.
Shrimad Bhagawatham also says that each of Vishnu's incarnations were amsas only. Some believe Krishna avatar was purna (full) avatar, which may or may not be true, but Ram was not purna avatar.
I guess different scriptures say differently, but for me, Vishnu never left Vaikunta for any of his avatars, so it's not strange for me when serials show Vishnu in Vaikunta and Rama, Krishna on Earth.

Yes I agree janaki Ram was not a purna avatar and hence whole of Vishnu couldn't have come down to earth

Vaikundha and khsheer sagar are different but I thought ksheer sagar existed inside vaikundha

I will try to check shrimad bhagwatam

@Nandini,
Yes, I think so. Vaikunta is the entire abode of Lord Vishnu, so ksheer sagar could be one part of it.
And no, Ram was not purna avatar. In fact, none of Vishnu's incarnations were purna avatar except Shri Krishna. Maybe that is why only Lord Krishna behaved divinely during his incarnation. All other incarnations had a humanistic aspect to them, especially Lord Parashuram.

No vaikunth is not in this universe or any other universe. It exist outside it.
Even in the show they mentioned Ksheera Sagar to Lord Vishnu Ji place.

Vaikunth is more for vaishnavaite dogma.

Vaikunta exist in the spriritual world as Ksheera Sagar exist in the Material world.

Lord Vishnu exist in both place at the same time..
Lord krishna Adode - lives in Vaikunth in place Golok
Lord Ram Abode lives in Vaikunth in place called Saket.
There is a reference made in Hanuman Chailisa for Lord Ram abode.
Every avatar has his own place in Vaikunth so any devotee can goto any avatar or Lord Narayyan him self.
