It's Jalandhar. If it were Andhaka the promo would have had Mahadev's eyes covered by Parvati's hands and he wouldn't be so angry either.

Today's episode of Maa Durga on Colors ended with a precap which shows the coming of Mahishasura. The voiceover says "Aa raha hain Maa Durga ka sabse bada shatru. Mahishasur!"

Jalandhara was a demon king, born out of the union of the lightning from Shiva's third eye and the Ocean. In one story, he accuses Shiva ofhypocrisy, pointing out that Shiva claims to be anasceticbut keeps a wife,Parvati. Jalandhara proposes that Shiva hand over Parvati to him:

Shiva of course refuses, becoming so angry that a fearsome creature (Kirttimukha) sprang from his brow and nearly killedRahu, the messenger who had delivered the demand.

Jalandhara had a wife of remarkablepietynamedVrinda(in some versionsTulasi). So pious is she that Jalandhara's misdeeds go unpunished under the protection of her virtue. EventuallyVishnushatters Vrinda's chastity; a path is thereby opened to the punishment of Jalandhara, who is killed by Lord Shiva. To comfort Vrinda in her grief and despair, Vishnu promises her that a beautiful plant will grow from her grave, and that its wood would be used to make agarland(tulasi mala) for his neck.

Is this the story of jalandhar?Are they going to show this story? I remember in one of the episodes, sati's mom was narrating this story of Tulasi to her daughters. 😆 If they are going to show this story now then how come sati's mom knew about it long back and narrated about it to her daughters? 😆
