There are lots of small or bigger differences in this story.
Like, It is said that Mahishasur was killed by Skand / Kartkeya and Durga had killed Durg/Durgam/Durgamasur, while some say Durga killed Mahishasur as well as Durg. And it is also believed that Durg and Mahishasur are one and the same. One believe is that Rakthbeej was brother of Mahishasur born out of the fire of funeral of thier father Rambh.
Even about Durga there are lots of different stories.
Origin of Durga is popularly known as Male origin as all the devtas had combined thier powers to form her. But another story says that it was Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati who combined thier powers to form Durga.
About the killing of Mahishasur. It was durga itself who killed him but some stories say that it was Maha Kali who killed him as for asked for in the boon to brahma, only a nude lady could kill him. and hence Durga had transformed into Kali and her tandav after was for the reason that she got angry over the world which made her go naked for thier welfare.
