From Mount Kailasa Lord Muruga traveled to the extreme South and landed at Tiru Avinankudi Hill and settled there. To cool the heat of Lord Muruga's anger, the God and Goddess followed him.

They consoled him by saying you need not worry about this fruit. "You are the fruit (Pazham nee)," said Lord Shiva to Palani Muruga. From that day onwards, Lord Palani Muruga sheds His grace upon devotees.

Lord Muruga showed his grace just like a saint in Tiru Avinankudi.

His bright face in equal to the rising sun; His very sight pours grace upon the devotee. His forehead displays tilakam, sandal and tiruneeru (vibhuti).

His broad chest having a cord with danda (staff) gives safety for others; His left hand on thigh shows abundant grace; His jeweled ankles shine with beauty; He shows grace to all wearing only a kaupna (loincloth) along with the blue peacock.

Starting of War between Tarakasur and Kumar

(Story has been taken from Skand puran, kshetra puran and Vaayu puran)

Lord Shiva assured the deities, who were also present there that Tarakasur's days were numbered. The deities's army then proceeded towards the battlefield. On their way, the deities heard a heavenly voice: 'You can defeat the demons only if you fight under the leadership of Kartikeya.'

Now all the deities requested Kartikeya to become their leader. Kartikeya accepted .This is the reason why he is also known as Deva senapati.Karitkeya was leading the deities' army, mounted on an elephant.

Shiva appointed four Pramatha Ganaas viz. Ghanta- Karna, Lohitaaksha, Nandisena and Kumudamalini; Brahma provided Sthaanu from his own Ganaas and Vishnu gave Samkrama, Vikrama and Parakrama; Indra provided Utkesha and Pankaja, Ravi gave Dandaka and Pingala, Chandra gave Mani and Vasumani, Ashvini Kumaaraas provided Vatsa and Nandi, Agni donated Jyoti and Jjvalajjihva; Dhatu Deva gave Kunda Kusunda and Kusuma; Twashta gave Chakra and Anuchakra; Vedha gave Atisthara and Susthira, Pusha granted Parityajya and Kaalaka Devis and so on. Likewise, Himaalaya, Vindhyachala, Varuna, Samudra, Ambika, Pavana, Amshumaan, Yamaraja, Yaksha Raja, Kaalindi, Narmada, Godavari, Mandakini, Gandaki, Mahanadi, and many such Rivers; Tirthas, Rishis and so on gifted away men, material, Arms, and several other items useful for the Great Battles ahead with Asuras.

Note:- Do not confused between Mahisha and Mahishasur- which was killed by devi, both r different, here mahisha is senapati of asur. He is not the same)

The news of Kartikeya's assuming the status as Deva Senapati reached Patala Lokas got spread out even as Skanda instructed his Ganaas to descend to Prithvi; as the Ganas came down, huge noises were heard and the highly valiant Asura Viraas like Mahisha(senapati of asur sena), Taraka, Virochana, Jambha, Kujambha and others heard the same and assembled at the place of Andhakasura(son of Hiranyaksha) to discuss about the development.

Just at that time, a Sukara Rupa Daitya named Patalaketu came into the Conference and reported that a Manava Rupa chased him with his arrows shouting ' Stop Stop' and there were innumerable such Rupas around on Prithvi; Patalaketu jumped in the Dakshina Samudra and through a hole entered Patala and arrived at the Conference. As this was heard from the Asura, some of the members felt that Manavas and Devas were seeking to target Tarakasura.

Even as the discussions were going on, Kartikeya Ganas and Matrikas attacked when Asuras were taken aback completely caught unawares.

The huge influx of Devas entered with Sthaanu Deva in the lead and started killing the Asuras in all directions. Quickly grouping their Army, the Asuras defended initially and took up the battle in right earnestness and decided to attack. But the Ganaas sliced the necks of countless Asuras.

Shadkukarna dragged Danavaas in sizeable number; the Gana Swami Pushpadanta cut off the bodies of Danavas into two or four or mulitple parts; Shakatachakraaksha and Panchasikha were engaged in drubbing 'Mushtighaats' or powerful fisfulls with both their powerful arms to pound elephants and turning chariots to smithereens; Shodasaaksha chased Mahisha for a while but the latter having taken a vantage point retalliated and ended him up. Similarly Taraka took to offensive and tormented Pramathas and Matru Shaktis; Mahisha then defeated and even hurt many Pramathas and having spared and ignored them proceeded fast towards Kumara but Suchakraaksha Ganeswara encounterd Mahisha and having lifted his chariot wheel intercepted the mighty Asura. However, Banaasura with his thousand hands overpowered Suchakra and tied him to his own chakra but with Suchakra saved himself; Makaraakhsha of the Ganaas too got defeated at the hands of Banasura.

The deities could not stand up to the might of demons. Even Indra was severely wounded when Tarakasur attacked him with his deadly weapon- 'Shakti'. On seeing the level of destruction caused in the deities' army, King Muchkunda, who was on the side of the deities' attacked Tarakasur. In the ensuing battle Muchkunda got injured and fell down on the ground. He got up furiously and tried to kill Tarakasur with his Brahmashtra. Sage Narad told him that Brahmashtra would be of no use as Tarakasur had been blessed with invincibility against mortals.

Narad said : 'Only Kartikeya is capable of killing Tarakasur. So, you all need to have patience till Kartikeya accomplishes his mission.'

Note: this king Muchkunda is mentioned in Mahabharata, as he has taken part in this, and rested 3 days in devlok after war, when he returned his whole family vanished as per the time cycle it became 300 yrs of earth. So he requested Indra that I want to go in a deep sleep and if anybody awakes me from it, he will burst to ashes .

Meanwhile Veerabhadra was fighting a dual bought against Tarakasur. He had already caused indescribable losses to the demons. While the fight was going on, Tarakasur realized that it was not easy to defeat him. So, he decided to use his illusionary powers, which helped him in acquiring ten thousand hands. The deities ran away from the battle field, when they saw ferocious Tarakasur approaching them. Lord Vishnu instructed Kartikeya to kill Tarakasur before it was too late.

Meanwhile Tarakaasura lifted his enormous sword and ran behind Ganeswara ganaas who in turn took refuge from Skanda Deva; as Tarakasura attacked Kumara face to face in a direct confrontation, Skanda Deva lifted up his Maha Shakti which directly hit Taraka's heart and the most deadly Asura who plagued the Suras for centuries fell to ground with a thud. This great extermination of Tarakasura the notorious and one of the cruellest enemies of the World against Virtue and Justice was unbelievable to Mahishasura ran for life to Himalayas, while Banasura too got demoralised and shocked and retreated towards the Sea displaying his back to the battle field. Eventually, Skanda Deva alighted his Mayura Vahana and left for Krouncha Parvata.

The spiteful Mahishasura too left Himalayas and reached Krouncha Parvata where he hid himself in a cave and as soon as Kumara arrived, Brahma- Vishnu -Maheswara as also Indra arrived there too. Indra asked Kartikeya to complete the task of killing Mahishasura too but Skanda hesitated since Mahisha was his cousin brother, but Indra tried to convince Skanda and there was a difference of opinion and there was even a bet as to who could take a faster pradakshina of the mountain by foot; since again there was an argument about who did the pradakshina first, Vishnu gave the judgment that Indra did it first; then Kumara out of anger more due to his defeat rather than anger for the Daitya, pulled up the Shakti Astra and killed Mahishasura.

Samundra Manthan Story

Samundra Manthan is a very well known and big story. I will try to include every part. It will start from the reason to do the manthan to the end with Mohini avatar of Vishnuji.

Part 1: Sanjeevani Mantra

The great learned sage Shukracharya secretly desired to become the Guru (Teacher) of the Gods. But no one ever considered him or gave him a chance. All of them expressed that Brihaspati (Jupiter) should be their Guru. This hurt Shukracharya's pride and decided to become the guru of the Asuras or demons.

There was a constant battle between the Gods and Asuras because the latter were power hungry. They wanted to control the Bhu- Mandal or cosmic planet and in turn all the living beings in it. They were dark, evil and followed the path of Adharma (Dharma is the path of righteousness).

Shukhracharya desperately wanted to prove his superior knowledge and as a Guru, he always made sure he did everything for benefit of his demon disciplines. He wanted the Sanjeevani Mantra from Lord Shiva. This mantra when recited could bring a dead person, back to life again. Lord Indra, the king of the Gods too wanted this. Lord Shiva laid down the terms that whoever wanted this Mantra had to perform severe penance and austerity and only then did he deserve such a powerful mantra.

The austerity was to hang upside down from a tree's branches and stay away from food and water. He was only allowed to inhale the smoke of burnt leaves and stay in this position for one year. He cannot talk during this austerity.

Lord Indra wasn't even planning to attempt this feat. Instead he planned to make sure that Shukhracharya wouldn't succeed as well. But Shukhracharya was steadfast in his decision. He followed all the conditions laid down by Lord Shiva and started his penance. Lord Indra had his trusted people around keeping an eye on the great sage's progress.

When the penance was in its final stages, Lord Indra couldn't believe in power of tolerance, breathing in only the burnt leaves, hanging upside down without food and water for a year. So in his last attempt to ruin this, Lord Indra sent his daughter. She disguised herself as a Brahmin woman and passed the courtyard-filled with demon guards. The moment she got closer to the fire where dried leave were being burnt, she threw dried chillies into it.

The fumes of hot, red chillies caused Shukracharya's eyes to bleed. Seeing this, the demon guards realized what had happened and dragged the disguished woman out. She too realized what a grave sin she had committed but it was too late. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva seated in his abode Mount Kailash in the Himalayas, sensed the tortureous pain of his devotee Shukhracharya and instantly appeared on the scene. He wiped away all the pain and sufferings and gave Shukracharya the Sanjeevani Mantra and condemned the devious act of Lord Indra.

Part 2: Curse to Lord Indra

Indra, the King of Devtas, while riding on an elephant, came across a sage named Durvasa who offered him a special garland. Indra accepted the garland, placing it on the trunk of the elephant. The elephant, irritated by the smell of the garland, threw it to the ground. This enraged the sage as the garland was a dwelling of Sri (fortune) and was to be treated as prasada. Durvasa Muni cursed Indra and all devas to be bereft of all strength, energy, and fortune.

This is also when Devi Mahalakshmi got angered on Devas and she turn around.

Part 3: Testing Trinity

Maharishi Bhrigu ji was married to Khyati ,the daughter of Daksha. He had two sons, Dhata and Vidhata and a daughter shri also known as Lakshmi. He is father of Jmadagni maharshi, Shukracharya, Chavana maharshi and grandfather of Parasurama.

It is well known that destiny plays role in the formation or birth of remarkable things. It so happened that when thousands of years ago this world was created then after four years all the supreme powers saw that the human kind was in deep pain and problems so they decided to perform a Yagya (A religious ceremony) for the well being of humanity. All great sages gathered at the bank of river Saraswati to participate in Maha yagya organized at that time. Maharishi Bhrigu was also present there.Just then Narad ji raised a question asking that who will be the head of this Yagya. All the Rishi Munie's were astonished at the question raised by Narad ji and thought he had a very valid question to be answerd. Maharishi Bhrigu ji told him that the creator of this world can only lead us but then again Narad ji replied that out of the three Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh only can lead not all and very cleverly gave the duty to Maharishi Bhrigu ji to find it out by himself. Maharishi Bhrigu ji accepted the task and asked the munies to give him sometime to resolves this matter.

Upon being entrusted with the task Maharishi Bhrigu decided to test Lord Brahma first. He went on to see Lord Brahma in Brahmalok. On reaching Brahmalok Maharishi displayed utter disrespect to Lord Brahma on purpose. Lord Brahma got angry and wanted to punish Maharishi but Maha Saraswati, wife of Lord Brahma saved Maharishi from his anger.

Maharishi Bhrigu then decided to visit Lord Shiva at Kailash Parvat. On reaching Kailash Parvat, Nandi stopped him from going inside because at that time, Shiva and Parvati were sporting fun.
