Hey everyone!🤗 So a short little author's note from my side: I actually have NO IDEA what force compelled me to do this😆 I'm not really the best writer and I'm definitely not that much into romance but I really wanted to do this. I guess this is what I've always secretly imagined an Udayveer & Manyata scene to be like. Its not at all realistic and doesnt fit in with their characters all that much but I guess this is a little peek inside what goes on in my head😛 I SINCERELY hope that you guys enjoy😃 So here we go:
"One step at a time." Udayveer said. "Good, now spin."
"Ahhh!" She screamed but Udayveer pulled her back into his arms before she could fall.
"Its okay, I'm not going to let you fall." Udayveer said and she looked up at him with her eyes wide open. One hand was resting on his shoulder while the other was still in his hand. "Maybe no spinning for a while though."
"Its these heels!" She claimed as she pulled herself upwards. "I bet Jay purposely gave them to me so I would trip and fall in public!" She stumbled once again but held on to Udayveer's shoulders and regained her balance.
"Manyata relax, its just a ballroom dance." Udayveer said calmly and shrugged.
"You say like its easy!" Manyata whined.
"It is." Udayveer smirked while Manyata stared daggers at him and continued to struggle.
"Ok, why don't we try one thing?" Uday said. Manyata stopped fussing and looked up at him. "Take your shoes off."
Manyata's eyes opened even wider. "What? No!"
Uday sighed. "Just do it."
"No! You know that Dadi Saab will yell at me after what happened last time. I have to keep these shoes on no matter what."
"Are you going to do it or do you want me to?"
Manyata reluctantly gave in and took her shoes off. She turned around and set them at the edge of the dance floor.
"Ok, now put your feet on top of mine." Uday instructed and Manyata followed. "At least this way you'll get a feel for ballroom dance as well."
Suddenly the distance between the two of them got a lot shorter. Udayveer slid both of Manyata's arms around his neck and stared down at her, testing her reaction.
"Are you ok?" He finally spoke.
"I'm fine." Manyata gulped without looking him in the eyes.
"Maharani Manyata..." Another party guest interrupted and both of them turned to look. "May I dance with you for a moment?" He asked.
Manyata faked a smile at him and helplessly pointed down at her feet with her eyes.
"Oh." The prince replied. "No problem, you enjoy the evening with your husband. Bye Udayveer."
Udayveer simply nodded his head. As soon as the guest was out of sight, he turned back to Manyata. "Kya princess, you turned down the most handsome prince of the county?"
"According to Jay and Unnati, I'm dancing with him." Manyata replied simply.
"And according to you?" Udayveer asked and tilted his head. Manyata looked up into the deep pits of his eyes, knowing the answer that he wanted to hear.
At that very moment, the music stopped signaling the guests to return to their seats for the dinner portion of the evening.
Manyata sighed and peered down at her shoes. Udayveer immediately noticed and picked both Manyata's shoes up and Manyata.
"Uday, put me down!"
Udayveer ignored her and she knew that she didn't have a chance. Though she was surprised that instead of walking towards their table, Udayveer walked right out the doors.
"Uday, may I point out that you've GONE INSANE! They're going to call our names out any minute in front of both the press and our families and we won't be anywhere in sight! Are you trying to get on Dadi Saab's nerves today?" Manyata thrashed against him.
"No, but I seem to be getting on yours." He said in response.
Manyata crossed her arms as he carried her to the car and gently placed her inside. He put her shoes down next to her and sat in the driver's seat.
"Where are we going?" Manyata asked after they'd been travelling for a couple minutes, unable to stand the silence.
"You'll see when we get there." Udayveer said, not taking his eyes off the road.
"Why can't you just tell me now?" Manyata crossed her arms.
Udayveer stopped the car at the red light and leaned in as close to Manyata as his seat belt would let him. "Well that would ruin the point of the surprise now, wouldn't it?"
Manyata stared at him before seeing the light change from the corner of her eye. She cleared her throat.
"Hmm?" Udayveer said.
"Light."
"What?"
"The light just changed." Manyata pointed to the windshield.
"Oh." Udayveer said in disappointment and continued to drive.
The rest of the trip was spent in silence until finally Udayveer pulled up in front of Jaigarh's grand palace.
"This was your big surprise?" Manyata said as Udayveer parked the car. "Bringing me back home early? I hope you realize how much Dadi Saab is going to yell at the both of us tomorrow."
"Manyata, would you please just relax? She already knows about this." Udayveer got out of the car.
"Oh so you bothered to tell Dadi Saab about your secret plan but not me?" Manyata said as she put on her shoes.
Udayveer shook his head and walked up to Manyata's side of the car. As soon as she finished putting on her heels, he extended his hand out. Manyata looked from him to his hand before finally putting her hand in his own.
She got up too quickly and lost her balance as a result. Udayveer immediately scooped her up in his arms yet again and walked around the house instead of inside it. Manyata looked at the front door that they were passing in confusion then back to Udayveer. She decided not to ask any more questions since Udayveer wouldn't answer them anyway.
Udayveer reached the gazebo at the back of the palace and placed Manyata down in one of the chairs. Manyata stared in awe at the table for two and the silver lights surrounding the gazebo that once was bare.
Udayveer gave Manyata a moment to sink everything in. She eventually looked at him with those wide doe-like eyes that he knew so well.
"Manyata," he said before taking her hands in his. "I know this hasn't exactly been any easy journey for either of us but that fact that we're both here, right now shows that it was all meant to be in the end. Manyata, I honestly couldn't have asked for a better wife. You've been so supportive, especially in these past couple of months and you've been an excellent Maharani to my kingdom. You're sweet, childish, compassionate, humorous, beautiful and you've got a heart of gold to match it all. Manyata, I've never said this to you before but I love you." He paused to place a light kiss of each of her hands. "Happy anniversary."
Manyata continued to stare at him with those doe-like eyes until finally she broke into tears. She held her arms out like a child and Udayveer kneeled down to give her a hug. She continued to sob into the crook of his neck while Udayveer ruffled her hair and smiled. When Manyata's sobs finally died down, Udayveer backed away to give her some room.
Manyata rubbed the tears away from her eyes and looked down at a smiling Udayveer. She pushed him so hard that he almost fell over.
"Look what you did!" Manyata screamed as she continued to sniffle. "I thought you promised you'd never let me cry."
Udayveer leaned in to wipe the remaining tears from her cheek. "Princess, theres a difference between sad tears and happy tears. Happy tears weren't a part of the condition."
"I don't remember setting these conditions." Manyata said, pushing Udayveer's hands away.
Udayveer reached in again and stroked her hair back, letting his palm rest on her cheek. "I do. Very clearly in fact. Wedding vow number three clearly states that in the rare case of crying, happy tears are exempt from the clause."
"Really now?" Manyata couldn't help but smile through her tears.
"Really." Udayveer brought himself closer to her face. She closed her eyes as he gently stroked her cheek with his thumb and opened them again when he stopped. Though subtle, Udayveer could see the desire suddenly present in her eyes. He drew even closer, carefully watching her reaction.
His lips hovered against hers, waiting for her approval. When Manyata didn't respond, he pulled away only to be dragged back by the collar. Manyata firmly held his collar in place and pulled him forward until his lips met hers.
Deepening the kiss, she wrapped her arms around his neck closing whatever remaining distance was left between them. Udayveer put his arms around her waist and picked her up only to sit in the chair with Manyata his lap.
Manyata finally stopped to catch a breath of air and looked downwards so that her forehead was against his. Though her eyes were still closed and her heart was pumping faster than ever before, she didn't dare look Udayveer in the eyes.
Udayveer gently tilted her chin up to look at him and Manyata finally opened her eyes. She was surprised to see that Udayveer's usual smirk was replaced by a more serious look. Though she could clearly see the affection present in his eyes. Then suddenly the words came on their own...
"Happy anniversary Uday." She said, which caused him to break into a smile. A smile that reached from his lips to his eyes and suddenly, she couldn't help but smile too.
He put his arms around her once again, bringing her in for a hug that Manyata gladly returned. She slowly closed her eyes and savoured the feeling of resting in her husband's arms.
