Otherwise for the audience its Hatta sawan ki ghata, and they move onto the next channel, so I don't think liking someone by their physical presence makes one shallow...sometimes someone's looks just get you hooked, penetrate your heart... and its a common syndrome for females, but I am huge advocate of the inner beauty as well, don't get me wrong...its just my opinion.perfectly respect ur opnion and i agree with u initial spark to attract the viewers is must..

P.S: I actually like the way Uday dresses up. It suits his personality. Whereas I completely dislike Akash's shirts. To me, they come out as totally ordinary and boring which I understand that his character is, so can't blame him. Plus, the CVs do not show whether Akash has different layers to him too or not. They just show him as Manyata's picture perfect kind of a guy whose always portrayed as 'good', 'mahan' etc. Isn't there more to a person than just this?...Surely a good guy has his bad moments too na?, why can't they be portrayed?..One can't be pristine forever.
yes his clothes suit his persoanlity...reason i pointed this dressing thing out was bec of frustration from comments like oh young girls love him for his cool ..bla bla bla... it was irritating me as hell bec i certainly have passed that phase of my life and so has my mother..both of us love uday for his characterization and artist's ability to generate the myseterious charm
Lack of variation in Akash's character sketches pushes me towards Uday too cause there is more to explore in Uday than in Akash.yes Akash is totaly diffrent story..a good actor like Abhishek suffers bec of this shallow majnu...so i wont really go in detail of my dislike for Akash...but I agree Akash's boring and single layered personality bores most audience and they include village audience as well.

thanks so much for sharing ur thoughts ..it means a lot ...my thoughts in brown..

Ashish is a great looking guy and has got a beautiful smile that when he smiles, you can't help but smile...and that is all fine. But me? I love Uday because of the grey-shades in his character...the layers that I think are there but yet to be seen...and that makes me more curious as to why he is the way he is. Basically, I love Uday out of curiosity😳

And it's not true that good looks overshadows the talent, I mean if you look at Hrithik...he has got great looks but he is equally talented. Same goes for Ranbir, SRK, Salman and Amir. Coming to TV...sometimes, people do tend to love couples/actor because of their looks but not always. I mean looks are not that important to me either. My favorite character from show Remix, Yuvi, has got completely unconventional looks, but for me...he is the best male character on Indian Television. Now there are characters like Rohan from R.com who is so charming and has got great looks but was appreciated for his talent...not looks.

Not everybody appreciates the talent or watches the show because of talent like us. There are many girls out there who watches and just drools over the looks. So the argument you brought is subjective and depends from person to person. We might not but there are several people who do and it's more than evident from their posts.

So, it depends on person but physical beauty should not get the person fame into acting/dancing/singing if they don't have talent. It can get them fame in modelling but not the other professions that requires actual talent.

EXCELLENT POST! should i call you Sam?

Thank you for finally making IT! I am so annoyed at some of the people making SOME really RUDE remarks!

To tell you honestly, i wasnt a big fan of the show from day 1. I dont go by people's face. When UV was shown for the first time, i wasn't even excited to see a guy like that...sure he was HANDSOME and HOT! But i din't like him. Not his character... to me he was just a player!
I quit watching the show all together. Just the bits i caught while having dinner with my family.

BUT then...

The PROMO: pub scene.

That is what made me intrigued! What? Uday? Remembers her? He only thought of her by just seeing the SCAR? Whoa!

And i downloaded all episodes and watched and re-watched over and over again!

Every time i watched his scenes, i DISCOVERED a new Uday...

He is A PLAYER no DOUBT about that... but a player with HEART. A HEART that is shadowed by the Ambitions of his life, his Father and his Royal lineage. His character became Clear to me sometimes.. but then LO! its not...there comes another SHADE to him! There is a new Uday i see in front of me!

I was like what IS THIS GUY? Cud he BE any mysterious? Cud he BE any Appealing? His Characterization is so PERFECT. A touch of REAL life in his character.

Gone were the days of a "GOOD" boy... we need something new! And here comes he with his inner dilemmas, but not wasting his time with soliloquies, just with diving off madly and throwing ROCKS at the beach!

And first time in my life i took such AN EAGER interest in an Indian Male lead!

Its the GROWTH in his character in the near FUTURE that INTRIGUES me! It is truly Amazing to watch it happen!

And you CANNOT deny Ashish's portrayal of Uday just brings the character to life. No doubt he is An AMAZING actor!

If physical Beauty were to matter, i would have been hooting for Vivan Dsena's Abhay MORE!

''we eat with our eyes first'' an expression used in the food industry so much but i think it applies here as well. Its in our nature to first look with the eyes, than think about anything else. But to be honest, i'm not at all attracted uday's character because of his looks, they are just a bonus :P, whats amazing about his character is that he has many shades and you are left wondering what is up with this guy? there's the good and bad, but overall he has a WOW factor- Even though Ashish is good looking and pleasurable sight for the eyes, i doubt i would have stuck to this show,if it had not been for the CV's coming up with this bitter sweet character called - Udayveer, its him who makes me want to continue watching. Its his character whom intrigues me and how its played out that makes me want to know more about him, thereby keeping me hooked to this show.

Hi Sameera,

Lovely post. Sorry, I'm in complete lazy mode, so have not read anyone's comments, so if I sound redundant, pardon me.

The reason why UV works, why he sticks in our zehmn, is because of Ashish Kapoor. Undoubtedly, the man has looks (whooosh!😍), but if his character (and his acting abilities) did not have that unique charm - the ability to slip into different shades and make you stop and wonder if you're still thinking/watching the same person - I would not watch the show. A couple of people suggested this show to me, and honestly speaking, the first impression was not the "wow, I'm digging this!," but, it was "wow, that actor can act!"

The story has potential, but what makes it worth watching is the actors - which is often the case with other shows. Aruna ji is a pleasure, the actress playing J is doing a fabulous job, Shahbaz Khan is golden, and the actor playing Vijay Bhai is so blank, yet so damn hillarious! As for Priyal, I must agree - the voice... Hai rabba. But, she's doing a decent job. I'm confused about Abhisheik though. What exactly he saw in Akash's character, I still fail to understand. When an actor takes up a role, I would assume, they would look for something that would allow them to explore their own potential. Akash is just to... blah. Cheesy, redundant, and not exciting. After doing, "Agle Janam..." I thought he would pick something different, something with more depth. So far, Akash's character has presented to charisma.

Coming back to UV - I haven't been this magnetized to a character since Iqbal Khan's Shiv Kapoor days (KAA), and that was like five... six years ago. Ashish is intense. The way he emotes is simply mind-blowing. I can sense the anger pouring out of his eyes like lava in one minute, and in the next, it seems like they have been glazed with warm butter. His portrayal of UV pulls me towards the television to watch this show. Half the time, I skip over a bunch of scenes and fast forward to his, simply because his enactment is so convincing. When we watch anything - television, movies, etc., we do so because there is something alluring or a mystery element to it. The character of UV is just that. The fact that Ashish is gorgeous (did I say that already?), is just chance. On passing, I would like to also mention that UV is clearly imperfect, but that is the "real" aspect to him. He is jealous, possessive, greedy, adorable, etc. but all of these characteristics embody a picture of reality. As humans, we naturally possess these characterstics (or at least a great portion of us). AK brings it all to life.

Okies, so I've rambled enough, and my mind is floating. Bottom line, he is an actor that knows his job, and performs to the T.

Cheers,
dc

Interesting topic!
i agree with most of the comments posted by the members before me! I don't want sound like a broken recorder by repeating the same things,
For me as a viewer, first thing that catches my attention is usually the look of the character, it's the character's styling followed by the what i get to see...the dialogue delivery...exprssions ...gestures etc...understanding the character comes later on as i can not judge that by just one scene!!
Styling plays an important role as no matter how looking or average looking an artist is if the styling doen't make him look the character then it's difficult to connect... does any1 remember how KSG or gurumeet looked before they saw Dr. Armann or Maan singh Kurana ??? Having said that just great styling and looks can not hold viewers attention for too long ... if the character is poorly written or if the actor lacks talent ... one will get bored and irritated shortly!
I can give the example of Krishna from Pratigya or Mohan from Na Bole Tum na main..both the actors are not conventionally 'hero' looking (purely my opinion no offense to their fans) but it's the characterization of Krishna / Mohan that attracts viewers. So good looks help in getting the attention but it's ultimately the character that stays with the audience unless for the portion which prefer looks over everything!
Coming to AK, i have seen AK in Yeh rishta and i didn't find him impressive because his character was just ordinary good hearted decent looking guy 😊
so my conclusion, it's UdayVeer the character that makes ppl go ga ga his mysterious side multilayered personality and princely aura the good looks are just bonus 👍🏼
cheers

i dont like uday due to his good looks. i like him due to his perfect face expressions.
mean acting is what ap ke zuban sa ziada ap ka expressions bolen wo he aik good actor or actress hota ha jo bolay kum aur us sa ziada us k face expressions bolen thats d real beauty.
n i agree beauty alwz not matter an attractive person in acting is one whose face expressions speaks more than his tongue.
so in this case uday baze la gya thts why we like him as compared to akaash no other reason akaash is also a good actor no doubt but d role not suits him.you can say it is his bad luck.
