i am really not sure whats the appropriate age, but if i have to give an input i would say let them know as soon as possible that they are adopted. may be from the age of 1. in this way, the childs spirit wont be shattered if they come to know about it at any rocky times which is mostly during teenage times when they are busy trying to find their own selves.

I think it should depend on the child's sensitivity and sensibility. Some kids can take such truth much earlier than others. So onus falls on parents to see when their child is prepared for such a revelation.

most of the kids around 4 and up attain the trait of sensitivity. they start understanding many things at that time. correct me if i might be wrong since i dont know how kids usually understand it. imo, its better to let them know as early as possible which is when they are toddler or small enough to get it ingrained in their thoughts that they are not their real parents.

Totaly Agree with maya's comments....its also importent how the parents caring/loving their adopted kid. suddenly someone disclose the truth if bit tuff for all...gradually show/talk to him about the orphanage, other orphen kids and their life then parents can disclose the truth.

I think between 6-10 is good age. 😳

😆😆 raunaq, you crack me up sweetie.

seriously, if mom says this, the child will be devastated. she is her mother even though she did not give birth. Yashoda is still considered Krishna's mom...hai na.

I agree with Maya. When and how to break the news depends to a great extent on child's maturity level.

I used to have a classmate, I think his parents broke the news to him in 9th or 10th grade.

He used to be one of the naughtiest kid around before after hearing the news the boy was devastated and has never been the same ever.
