You have already well put why the k-dramas are unique. Right from their finite series to the range of genres and good chemistry between the leads we just go deeper into it with every kdrama. IIRC my first kdrama was "the master's sun" in 2014 . then I guess "Healer". What really made me hooked was LMH dramas when I binged all his drama in 2016.. now they all r outdated but thats the best thing too..they content moves with the age and is so relatable...we get content for every age grp from high school to older ppl..K dramas got popular coz of their romance shows in the beginning but now all have come to realization they offer such large variety especially the thriller genre, slice of youth and their medical dramas. Squid game brought nice attention to it worldwide..though sometimes I feel possessive about kdrama and dont want them to go main stream as I am always worried if it will mess up its uniqueness...but I think netflix is bringing back to back nice shows...just hope they dont turn them into seasonal shows.
Whenever I need a break from kdramas...I switch to cdramas or jdrama or thai...
It was hard to get into cdramas for a while but when I watched Meteor garden in 2018. that barrier was broken and since then it has been a nice ride exploring the fantasy drama they offer..very refreshing break from kdramas.
ITV imo is stuck in never ending family saga...genre is limited...plus we cant relate at all to the characters...last ITV I watched was kaisi yeh yaariaan and that being an adaption of jdrama and kdrama ka combo lol which also had turned into mess after leaps. Even if like a show ..they butcher characters so much we end up hating it later..there is no satisfaction story wise...characterisation wise..just endless celebration of holi , diwali and what not...
