Hyderabad. Its not happening but happened already. They spend 3000Rs per head for both the doses.

EDIT: This is what I am trying to say. Once you allow for a price to be put on it, then it is like an open invitation to the private hospitals to make more money. Already they are making so much money on the so called ‘Covid packages’ and what not.:(

It is not just one place or one odd instance that it needs to be reported. It’s rampant everywhere, worse is they are thinking this is how it works. And as usual the poor people have nowhere to go.

Why shouldn't it be reported? It happened with you, you have the name of the hospital, a simple anonymous tweet would go a long way especially in helping the poor who are not getting these vaccines coz of black marketeers atleast in Hyderabad. Even if the report helps in making sure atleast 200 vials are freed(I'm sure the hospital if private has more than that) then it's a 100 poor people you have helped.

Similarly, if its happening elsewhere then it needs to be called out. Coz its not the official rate, but sheer black marketing. Again, mostly the pathetic Babudom at its best.

We are 1.34B people, Vaccination will take more than one year in any case

50% for Central government and 50% for state + private

You have to look up production capacity of SII and BB to know if India is vaccinating more people every month than their production, with increase in demand, they have to increase their production capacity too, they can't cap it at Rs150 and promise 100% to central government, do know that according to guidelines they have to announce the price beforehand, they can't change it after this

If someone is asking more than the announced price then report it

And I can't help feeling profiteering is behind it. Moderna shots are 6 dollars a pop. It's free in the U.S., but that's what the price is if you were to pay. Cheaper than Covishield and higher in efficacy than Covishield. So why weren't they approved months ago when the U.S. and E.U. approved them? These are what boggle my mind.

I'm sure it's frustrating for you, it is for me too. Vaccine hesitancy has led to 5 of my relatives being positive with severe symptoms, I'm grateful that my parents got their doses on time. Hope the stocks are replenished soon everywhere(especially in states where people actually want to get vaccinated and don't believe in stupid hoaxes about the vaccines) and we come out of this crisis soon.

I'm not that sure about Moderna but Pfizer entered into a contract with EU with their price set at €19.50 per dose (atleast as per the latest contract). This is when the EU has supported the development and R&D of Pfizer. I don't think they going to sell it to India at 6 dollars.

Also, the covaxin rate of 1200 is for Private hospitals after 1st May. If you are being charged wrongly, report it.
